MEAT LOAF FUMING OVER AUSSIE FOOTBALL SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:49 am

MEAT LOAF has taken aim at bosses of the Australian Football League (AFL) over a recent pre-match performance, branding them "jerks" and vowing to dissuade other artists from singing at future games.
The Bat Out Of Hell rocker took the stage at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to sing at the AFL’s grand final game earlier this month (Oct11), but many critics dismissed his performance as shambolic and out of tune.
Meat Loaf has now spoken out to defend his set and has accused AFL bosses of failing to provide a live piano and not giving him enough time for a sound check.
He also claims he could not hear the music in his earpiece, according to the Sunday Herald Sun.
The star has now vowed never to perform for the AFL again, telling the publication, "I’m sorry, they’re jerks. I do not like them… And I’ll tell you what, anybody that I hear announces that they’re going to play for them I’m going to write to that particular artist a letter and tell them not to. And I hope the AFL hears this and I want this everywhere. Because I will go out of my way to tell any artist do not play for them."

GALLAGHER FLIES HIGH AT FIRST POST-OASIS SOLO GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:49 am

NOEL GALLAGHER took a cheeky swipe at his brother Liam at his first solo show since the break-up of OASIS by opening with the band’s track (IT’S GOOD) TO BE FREE.
The guitarist, who left the Wonderwall hitmakers in 2009, celebrated his ’single’ status by performing the 1994 B-side as he made his debut with new band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Ireland on Sunday (23Oct11).
The rocker created the group after falling out with his bandmate brother Liam in a backstage bust-up prior to a gig in France two years ago (09).
But despite the acrimonious split, Gallagher relied heavily on Oasis’ back catalogue throughout his live show, playing Oasis songs including Wonderwall, Supersonic and Talk Tonight between new material.
His encore also included the Oasis classics Don’t Look Back In Anger, The Importance Of Being Idle and Little By Little.
The star’s triumphant concert came the same day his debut solo album, titled Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, entered the U.K. album chart at number one.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

Actor TOM SELLECK is haunted by a MAGNUM, P.I. poster he still wishes he hadn’t agreed to be photographed for - because it’s the one fans seem to want signed more than any other.
The ageing hunk admits he was reluctant to pose for the Hawaiian hammock-themed shoot but signed on to be "a nice guy".
And he’s regretted his decision ever since.
He explains, "They put me in a hammock between two palm trees and I had on a purple Hawaiian shirt… and they gave me one of those pineapples that are cut off with a big straw and an umbrella.
"I said, ‘I don’t wanna do this’, and they said, ‘Oh, come on, just be a good sport’.
"Now, everywhere I go, that poster comes up or that picture comes up and I have to sign it."

GIGANDET: ‘I’M ALWAYS GETTING NAKED FOR FILMS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

TWILIGHT villain CAM GIGANDET thumbs through film scripts to find the scene where his character strips off - because it’s becoming the norm for him to get naked in his films.
The actor has shown off his impressive physique for Christina Aguilera in Burlesque and Nicole Kidman in new film Trespass and he has come to accept that every role he lands will have a naked scene.
He tells WENN, "There’s a lack of clothes running through my career." But he admits he’ll never be more nervous than when he had to strip for his crush Kidman: "That scene was heightened because the person across from me was intimidating, so it was tough. I mean it was Nicole Kidman.
"I did extra sit-ups before that scene. We had to shoot it a few times so I think all the body make-up ran off and my abs were fading away with the make-up!"

BRIDGES RECORDS NEW TRACKS WITH SANDOVAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

Actor BEAU BRIDGES is hoping to follow brother Jeff into the album charts after recording new tunes with Cuban jazz great ARTURO SANDOVAL.
The Fabulous Baker Boys star recorded a handful of self-penned songs as a gift for his wife’s birthday and he was so impressed with the results he’s considering heading back into the studio with Sandoval.
He says, "I threw a special birthday party for my wife and she asked me to record some of my songs for her gift. I’ve written songs all through my life but I’ve never really taken them seriously and recorded them.
"We walk every morning in our neighbourhood with our buddies and one of our friends who walks with us is Arturo Sandoval. So Arturo got wind that my wife had made this request and he said, ‘Man, you better do it and come to my house and lay down some songs!’ So I did for the first time and it was so much fun.
"The songs are mostly stories that come to me. One came to me in the middle of the night. I woke up and just wrote it all down. I call it God’s Song. Arturo did the music for it. He started off something on his horn and then he played some crazy piano.
"Who knows what will happen with them. Maybe they’ll wind up on a CD!"

IFANS: ‘I WAS REDGRAVE’S FLYMAN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

Actor RHYS IFANS feels his acting career has come full circle after working with VANESSA REDGRAVE in new period film ANONYMOUS - because he started out as the veteran’s ‘flyman’.
The Notting Hill star landed a role as a trainee at a theatre in North Wales after leaving school and worked on the scenery for Redgrave’s Cleopatra.
He recalls, "A flyman is the guy who pulls the ropes and brings the scenery in and out. Vanessa Redgrave was working in that theater playing Cleopatra with (then-boyfriend) Timothy Dalton. So my first experience in life was with Vanessa, but I only saw the top of her head from where I was! "When she was in the make-up trailer on the first day of shooting Anonymous I said, ‘Oh, hi Vanessa, I’m a big fan. We’ve worked together before.’ I could see her trying to remember me. I said, ‘You won’t remember me but I remember you’." He relayed the story of his humble beginnings to Redgrave’s daughter Joely Richardson, who also appears in Anonymous, during a recent junket.
She said, "That’s an amazing story. And now you’re starring in a film about Shakespeare that mom is in. That’s made my day to hear that story. I love those life things."

WEST WILL NEVER PLAY A SERIAL KILLER AGAIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

British actor DOMINIC WEST has vowed never to play a serial killer again because he found his role as FRED WEST to be "all-consuming" and "soul destroying".
The Wire star portrayed the notorious British murderer in U.K. TV movie Appropriate Adult, which centred around the interviews Fred West gave to cops after his arrest in 1994.
West admits playing the serial killer was a "traumatic experience" and it has put him off ever taking on such a gritty role again.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star Sunday, "I’ve had quite a few offers to play serial killers. But I will never do it again. They are all ghastly. It’s a soul-destroying thing to do. It is all-consuming. Luckily we shot the drama in about three or four weeks and then I went straight into something else, so I was able to get rid of him very quickly. But it was a traumatic experience." Fred West was charged with murdering 12 young women and girls in Britain between 1967 and 1987, but he hanged himself in his prison cell in 1995 before he could face trial.

LOHAN’S CUPCAKE GIFT TURNED AWAY FROM THE MORGUE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:16 am

LINDSAY LOHAN’s apology gift of cupcakes was turned away from the Los Angeles County Morgue on Friday (21Oct11), because the actress’ community service bosses felt it was "unacceptable" for staff to munch delicious treats inches from dead bodies.
The Mean Girls star began her court-ordered service at the morgue a day late on Friday morning, after she was turned away on Thursday (20Oct11) for arriving at the wrong entrance, and thought it would be a nice gesture to say hello with cupcakes.
Unfortunately, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter didn’t agree - and he insisted the delivery guy was turned away.
Winter tells TMZ.com, "It’s unacceptable. We’re not here to accept food." Lohan’s representative says, "Lindsay asked her assistant to pick up lunches from the In-And-Out (fast food chain) in Huntington Park around 10:30 a.m. Around 11:00 a.m., her assistant returned with the lunches and brought them into the administrative trailer and set the food on a table for the volunteers to eat on their break.
"Additionally, Lindsay ordered cupcakes for the staff and volunteers. When they were delivered, morgue supervisors would not let them into the building.
"It is unfortunate that Lindsay’s well-intentioned actions were not taken in the spirit in which she intended; to say she was sorry for yesterday’s misunderstanding."

BURTON’S BALLOON TO FLOAT AT THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:07 am

Moviemaker TIM BURTON has created a giant balloon for next month’s (Nov11) Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
His B. Boy will float alongside Garfield and Snoopy inflatables.
Burton admits he was "surprised" to be asked to be a part of the annual parade, which takes over the streets of the Big Apple, and he jumped at the chance to create a balloon.
He tells USA Today B. Boy was inspired by the thought of unwanted balloons left behind at children’s parties at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, that dream of being able to fly free.
Burton adds, "There’s always been something about balloons. You see them deflated and you see them floating. There’s something quite beautiful and tragic and sad and buoyant and happy, all at the same time."
