PANETTIERE TEARED UP OVER KNOX’S OVERTURNED MURDER CONVICTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:10 pm

HAYDEN PANETTIERE "welled up" when AMANDA KNOX’s murder conviction was overturned - because she feels "a certain connection" with the American student after playing her in a TV movie.
The Heroes star took on the title role in Lifetime’s Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy, which is based around the brutal killing of Knox’s roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, Italy in 2007, and the subsequent trial.
Knox was found guilty of the killing and sentenced to 26 years in prison in 2009, but she took the case to appeal and her conviction was quashed earlier this month (Oct11).
Panettiere was watching the appeal case unfold on TV - and she hopes the 24 year old gets "a second chance at life" now she’s returned to her native America.
The actress tells Access Hollywood, "I was on the edge of my bed, my eyes welled up when I heard the verdict read.
"It’s hard for me because I played her. I do feel like I have a certain connection with her. It’s difficult for me to say that I’m not excited to see a young girl get a second chance at life and she does have a second chance, and I hope she makes the best of it."

UNIVERSAL SCRAPS PLAN TO MAKE MURPHY MOVIE AVAILABLE IN HOMES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:13 pm

Movie executives at Universal Pictures have abandoned plans to release EDDIE MURPHY and BEN STILLER’s new film TOWER HEIST as a pay-per-view video-on-demand movie on TV three weeks after its theatrical release following an outcry from cinema chiefs.
The bosses of a handful of leading U.S. cinema chains vowed not to play the comedy at all if Universal bigwigs went ahead with the idea to make the movie available at home in select markets before the end of November (11). It opens in the U.S. on 4 November (11).
Executives of one big player, National Amusements Inc., insisted the film would not show at any of their 950 theatres in America, Britain and Latin America unless Universal chiefs reconsidered.
The theatre bosses feared that film fans would stay away from the movie in cinemas if they knew they’d be able to see it at home within a month.

LOGGINS WON’T RECEIVE A PENNY FROM FOOTLOOSE REVAMP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:10 pm

Rocker KENNY LOGGINS has lost out on a windfall from the new FOOTLOOSE movie - because he receives no royalties from the use of his hit theme.
Loggins recorded Footloose for the hit 1984 Kevin Bacon film and his 32-year-old song features at the beginning of the new remake. It’s also covered by country star Blake Shelton in the film - but the hitmaker won’t be receiving any cash thanks to a clause in the original contract.
He says, "It says that any sequels are covered in the original deal, so they consider this a sequel." But Loggins is thrilled his song is back - and Shelton’s cover sounds the same.
He tells Access Hollywood Live, "They tried 10 different versions of the song and they kept re-cutting it because they wanted to capture that spirit of the original - and Blake came the closest." Loggins wasn’t even consulted about the remake’s soundtrack or what was done with his song.
He adds, "I even had to ring and ask for tickets to the premiere."

BARRINO DENIES PREGNANCY DELAYED FILM PRODUCTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:04 pm

Singer/actress FANTASIA BARRINO has hit back at reports suggesting she derailed production on the upcoming biopic of gospel great MAHALIA JACKSON by hiding her pregnancy from filmmakers.
The former American Idol star was set to begin shooting the movie, titled Mahalia!, this year (11), but the start date has been postponed to January (12) following the news Barrino is expecting her second child.
It was alleged that Barrino had kept her baby news secret from producers until recently - but she insists that wasn’t the case and blames financial problems for holding up the movie.
In a chat with U.S. TV presenter Wendy Williams, she says, "There were no contracts signed, and there was no set date and time (when I agreed to the role). I began to gain the weight (to portray Jackson), I began to study her. And then they called us back in January and said the investors had backed out. So they were waiting on investors.
"I wanted to make the family proud, and most of all, I wanted to make Mahalia Jackson proud - and my fans and everyone who’s been following me." Barrino, who has not yet named the father of her child, is due to give birth on 29 December (11). She is already a mother to nine-year-old daughter Zion.

CLARKSON: ‘MUSIC’S AGED ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:22 pm

KELLY CLARKSON "hit rock bottom" when her career took off following her AMERICAN IDOL win - because she worked non-stop for four years.
The Miss Independent hitmaker won the inaugural contest in 2002 and went on to release two albums by 2004.
Clarkson promoted the releases around the globe, but her packed schedule had a bad effect on her health and she took time out from the spotlight to recover.
And the 29 year old admits the years of working non-stop have aged her considerably.
She tells Britain’s Closer magazine, "I feel like I’m 45. Because my career went from zero to 100, there was no ‘growing’. I learnt well under pressure, but like, four years passed by and I hit rock bottom. It was four years of non-stop (work).
"(Second album) Breakaway just exploded everywhere. Everyone was making a lot of money, so everyone was pushing the train.
"That’s when it finally all caught up with me. I came down with ‘walking pneumonia’ for the second time in a year. My body was physically giving up. I took six months off and went home. I love working, but at the end of the day you’ve got to take care of yourself."

She tells Esquire magazine, "It was too much anger. (It) was taking up too much of my time. I’m really excited to see the breakthrough he’s had in his career.
"It’s incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know? I really like the music he’s putting out. I’m a fan of his stuff. I’ve always been a fan.
"I would never wish anything horrible for him. Never. I never have."

JACKMAN FEEDS TV GIRL CHOCOLATE MOUTH-TO-MOUTH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:22 pm

Hollywood hunk HUGH JACKMAN set a British TV presenter’s heart racing when he briefly locked lips with her by feeding her chocolate mouth-to-mouth.
The X-Men star was interviewed by Alison Hammond on U.K. show This Morning on Tuesday (11Oct11), and she cheekily shocked the actor by asking him to feed her sweet treats while wearing boxing gloves.
Jackman gamely joined in the bizarre stunt but found it impossible to pick up the candies - so he stunned Hammond by popping one between his lips, pulling her close, and slipping it into her mouth.
As the Australian star performed the saucy move, the giggling presenter told viewers, "As far as I’m concerned, this interview finishes here!"
