BAND BACKS DOWN IN X FACTOR BATTLE
The members of a band taking part in Britain’s THE X FACTOR TV talent contest have agreed to change their name after charity bosses begged SIMON COWELL to back down in a legal battle.
Four singers who auditioned for the U.K. version of the programme were grouped together and given the name Rhythmix, but it later emerged a children’s charity in Britain already uses the name.
Charity officials wrote an open letter to Cowell on Wednesday (26Oct11) urging him to call off a potentially costly legal battle over the rights to the moniker - and the four singers have now agreed to find a new name.
An X Factor spokesman says, "At the request of the charity Rhythmix, the members of the girl group Rhythmix have decided to change their name… The group’s new name will be announced in due course."
