Actor ALEC BALDWIN is encouraging activists involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement to take their demonstrations to Omaha, Nebraska to protest against plans to construct a major new oil pipeline across the country.
Bosses at Canadian pipeline operator TransCanada have upset environmentalists with their plans to build the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast, and Baldwin has suggested activists fighting for equality and an end to corporate greed in New York should turn their attentions to green issues.
Eco-warrior Daryl Hannah led a protest outside the White House in Washington, D.C. in August (11) and Baldwin is now suggesting demonstrators stage a sit-in protest at the firm’s headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.
On Wednesday (19Oct11), the 30 Rock star posted a link on his Twitter.com page directing fans to a New York Times article about the safety fears surrounding the proposal, alongside the caption: "Occupy Keystone XL Pipeline".
He later added, "Keystone Pipeline is HQ’ed (headquartered) in Omaha. #OccupyKeystonePipeline".
Baldwin has already voiced his support for the Occupy Wall Street protesters in New York by visiting the group’s base in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park.
The demonstrations have since spread to a number of cities worldwide.

Legendary rocker KEITH RICHARDS is enjoying his new-found success as an author - because fans no longer think he’s just a drunk.
The Rolling Stones veteran released his tell-all tome Life last year (10) and received much acclaim for the literary work, but Richards admits the book has done more than just entertain followers - it’s altered his perception in the eyes of the public.
He tells GQ magazine, "It’s weird. It changed, because of the book mainly. There’s always going to be ‘Keef’ - you know, the one that closed down the liquor stores because he threatened to dry out. And, in a way, I’ve always felt honoured by turning into a sort of cartoon…
"And, yeah, that is part of me. Old Keef. You know. The drug one.
"But since the book came out there’s ‘Actually he can talk… He’s read a book or two.’ I don’t particularly care whether people know that or not. But it’s a nice counterbalance to ‘Keef.’ Presidents speak to me now."

LINDSAY LOHAN has been escorted from a Los Angeles courtroom in handcuffs after a judge revoked the actress’ probation for failing to complete her community service.
A frightened Lohan, who was on the verge of tears throughout Wednesday’s (19Oct11) progress hearing, will spend hours behind bars. She is expected to be released on $100,000 (£62,500) bail later today.
During the tense hearing, Lohan was reprimanded by Judge Stephanie Sautner, who accused the star of making it "deliberately impossible" to complete her community service sentence at the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles.
The Mean Girls actress was ordered to serve 360 hours there as part of her probation following a 2011 shoplifting conviction, but it emerged last week (ends14Oct11) that bosses at the centre had terminated Lohan’s arrangement because she had only completed a fraction of her required shifts.
Judge Sautner suggested in court she had only shown up to the centre once and stayed for 90 minutes of a court-ordered four-hour shift. Lohan was subsequently assigned to a new community service programme at the Red Cross, where she has been logging several hours of work.
Reviewing the case, Judge Sautner stated: "Miss Lohan’s actions deliberately made it impossible to complete her community service at the Downtown Women’s Center… I certainly find that cause to revoke probation." Judge Sautner ruled against counting Lohan’s hours at the Red Cross as part of her community service requirements, insisting she should have "immediately enrolled" in a programme at the Los Angeles County Morgue, where she was previously ordered to serve an additional 120 hours.
But that’s not all - the actress also came under fire for only finishing her court-ordered Shoplifters’ Course on the eve of her progress hearing on Wednesday - the deadline for the course completion.
Defending Lohan’s actions, her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley challenged, "She completed it last night, she began July 20th… She completed both components of that (course) and… has glowing reviews…" Another court hearing is expected to be set for Lohan to defend allegations she has violated the terms of her probation.

One of JOHN LENNON’s teeth is heading for the auction block - and the macabre "souvenir" is expected to sell for a jaw-dropping $16,000 (£10,000).
The Imagine icon gave the molar to his one-time housekeeper, Dot Jarlett, in the late 1960s as an odd piece of memorabilia for her Beatles-mad daughter.
Jarlett’s son, Barry, says, "He was in the kitchen and he had this tooth which he had wrapped in a piece of paper.
"He said, ‘Dot, will you dispose of this’ and then he said, ‘Or, as your daughter’s a Beatles fan, you can give to her as a souvenir’. It is something that we felt was very personal and my mum actually gave it to my sister, who has kept it safe." But the Jarletts are now preparing to sell the tooth at an auction in Stockport, England on 5 November (11) - and it’s expected to be a big hit.
Omega Auctions representative Karen Fairweather says, "This is the most wonderful and weird item that we have ever had for sale.
"It is a truly unique item and it is really difficult to put a value on it. We are expecting it to achieve at least £10,000 but it is not unknown for items as rare as this to reach six figures." Lennon died in December, 1980.

Rocker NIKKI SIXX is preparing to undergo surgery to fix a knee injury.
The bassist has been suffering from joint problems since hurting himself onstage during a Motley Crue show over the summer (11) and he previously shared photos of a doctor draining excess fluid from his kneecap with his Twitter.com followers.
He is now going under the knife to correct the problem once and for all.
In a tweet to fans he writes, "Knee surgery today. Looking forward to coming back stronger. #BionicSixx"

SHANIA TWAIN’s alleged stalker has been denied bail as he awaits sentencing next month (Nov11).
Former doctor Giovanni Palumbo allegedly sent the singer a series of letters, made unwanted visits to her family cottage in Ontario, Canada and even attended her grandmother’s funeral.
He was arrested at an awards show earlier this year (11) and he pleaded guilty to harassment charges on 30 September (11) after Twain openly expressed her fear and anxiety over the situation in a live video link.
And on Wednesday (19Oct11) Justice Richard Schneider shut down the defendant’s plea to be freed because Palumbo failed to offer up a suitable release plan.
He is due to face charges for failure to comply with a court order and criminal harassment on 15 November (11).

Legendary R&B singer ETTA JAMES has announced her decision to retire following the release of her latest album.
The 73 year old has been in and out of hospital in recent months undergoing treatment for leukaemia and she was admitted to a California medical centre in May (11) after she was diagnosed with a potentially deadly sepsis problem, caused by a urinary tract infection. James was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009.
She has been out of the spotlight for a number of years and she’s now set to mark the end of her 50-year career by releasing her final studio album, The Dreamer, on 25 October (11).
The Grammy Award-winning star and At Last hitmaker will then call it quits and concentrate on her health.
She says, "I wish to thank all my fans who have shown me love and support over all these years. I love you all."

Actor CHORD OVERSTREET is set to make a triumphant return to hit U.S. TV show GLEE, just months after quitting the series.
Overstreet, who got his big break playing hunky high school student Sam Evans on the popular programme, left the series earlier this year (11) to pursue a career in music.
However the actor is now set to reprise his role and appear in a multi-episode run during Glee’s third season, which is currently on hiatus until 1 November (11).
Overstreet’s storyline has not yet been determined but a production source tells TVLine.com, "We missed Chord and Chord missed us. It’s a win-win."

COMMON and WILL.I.AM are to feature in a new TV documentary about the power of hip-hop music.
The pair will team up to shoot Bouncing Cats, which chronicles one man’s attempt to improve the lives of Ugandan children through the use of music and breakdance.
Love of My Life hitmaker Common will serve as the programme’s narrator and the Black Eyed Peas star will be among those who have agreed to talk about the power of rap and hip-hop.
The film, which will also feature Mos Def, will debut in America on 19 November (11).

Comic book legend STAN LEE is to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Visual Effects Society (VES) next year (12).
The beloved co-creator of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and X-Men will follow in the footsteps of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and James Cameron, who have all previously been handed the trophy.
VES chairman Jeffrey Okun announced the honour on Tuesday (18Oct11), saying, "Stan Lee’s imagination has created a completely original and profitable niche in the entertainment world and has allowed visual effects to flex its muscle in service to it." Lee will pick up the prize at the VES Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on 7 February (12).

KELSEY GRAMMER is developing a new TV sitcom based loosely on his personal circumstances.
Generations chronicles the trials and tribulations of a guy who can’t shake his ties to an ex-wife as he embarks on marriage to a younger woman.
EOnline.com reports Grammer will produce the series for TV network Fox.
The actor married former British flight attendant Kayte Walsh, 30, in February (11) after divorcing now ex-wife Camille.
Kelsey and Camille have been involved in a bitter custody battle over their two kids ever since they split last year (10).

Heartless hackers are exploiting the death of AMY WINEHOUSE by urging fans to download an "unreleased track" featuring the tragic singer - and linking to a computer virus instead.
The Back to Black hitmaker’s goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield, was targeted by cyber crooks who cracked the password for her Twitter.com account on Wednesday (19Oct11).
They then bombarded her 62,000 followers with the message, "One of my Unreleased Tracks Feat Amy Winehouse Download Here" alongside a website address - but the file on the link contained a nasty virus.
The 15 year old was forced to take to her Facebook page to warn fans not to be fooled by the scam, writing, "Guys, please ignore any tweets from my twitter page for the time being. I’ve been hacked! Lousy hackers! Don’t go clicking any of the links please til we sort it out please x." Winehouse was found dead at her London home in July (11). An inquest to establish the cause of her death will be held later this month (Oct11).

Actor JAMIE BELL has launched a costume contest to give away passes to the premiere of his latest movie THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN.
The Brit has asked fans to submit pictures of themselves dressed as the famous boy reporter, who he plays in the new adventure film, for a chance to meet him on the red carpet in London.
In a video posted on his Twitter.com page, Bell explains, "The premiere takes place on October 23, it is at the Odeon West End in Leicester Square in London. Paramount have very kindly issued me with four tickets to issue to the winner of a very special Twitter competition.
"You have to send me in pictures of yourself dressed as the intrepid boy reporter - with quiff and all - and I’ll select the winner from those pictures that you send in. I’ve already had lots of entries, they’ve all been great. Just have fun with it - anyone can enter, you don’t have to be a boy to be the intrepid boy reporter. IRON MAIDEN are giving fans a glimpse of their life on the road by releasing a photo book containing previously unseen pictures of the band.
The rockers have compiled a hardback tome, titled On Board Flight 666, which shows images of them over the last four years on their Somewhere Back In Time and The Final Frontier treks.
The group’s official photographer John McMurtrie has chosen more than 600 photos which he took as frontman Bruce Dickinson, who is a qualified pilot, jetted them across the globe in their private plane.
A foreword from Dickinson reads, "Here it all is. In fact, if it’s not in there, it probably never happened!" McMurtrie tells Britain’s Kerrang! magazine, "I liken touring with Iron Maiden to that of a white knuckle ride at a theme park. You spend most of the time screaming and holding on for dear life. But when it comes to an end you just want to do it again, again, again! "This book isn’t just a snapshot of a band at their peak, but a journey of six individuals who simply want to play to their fans in every corner of the globe and how they achieved it. As a photographer you couldn’t ask for a better subject."

THE KILLERS frontman BRANDON FLOWERS has recruited his wife and kids to star alongside him in a campaign celebrating his Mormon faith.
The rocker can be seen hugging his wife Tana and three sons Ammon, Gunner and Henry in the clip, in which he discusses his religion and its emphasis on family values.
He says, "It’s definitely not normal in this business at my age to have a wife and children but for me it all heads back to my roots and the example set from (sic) my parents. They were married for 44 years and there was always a happiness in my home and that’s what I want. By the time I had a child, I had 17 or 18 nieces and nephews so… I knew the drill! "A lot of it (Mormonism) is based around starting a family and realising that that’s what is important to me. In a lot of ways, it’s kind of surpassed the music now, for me." The singer also reveals he’s encountered several former Mormons who have denounced the religion, but maintains he’s still proud of his faith.
Flowers adds, "A lot of people love to come up to me and tell me they were raised in the church. They expect there to be this camaraderie about, ‘Oh, we’ve outgrown it now. We’re smart enough now to not be in it.’ "It started happening so often that it really made me take a look at myself and I realised I was raised in it and there’s still a fire burning in there."

Kooky singer BJORK vowed to make her groundbreaking multimedia album BIOPHILIA as technologically advanced as possible in a bid to show the world the internet is not "the enemy of music".
The Icelandic singer released her eighth solo album earlier this month (Oct11), announcing the record was part-recorded on an iPad and would be available as a series of apps.
Each app has animation and various interactive functions - and the former Sugarcubes singer has revealed she set out to prove to music industry bosses they can utilise modern technology to their advantage.
Bjork tells NME magazine she hit upon the idea after losing all her music distribution deals following her last tour in 2008.
She says, "It had an emotional effect on me. I felt like I was off the grid, and maybe it was time to address how for 10 years I’d just been listening to people moan about how the internet was killing music. And I was like, ‘Hang on, technology is not the enemy of music. Maybe it’s because we’ve let businessmen set up the model of how we distribute music.’ "If artists would just get involved… iTunes have agreed that I can just add app by app. That’s like any musician’s wet dream. I think it’s important, while the internet is still moving, to try and make it into what you want it to be. Although then my mind was like, ‘Uh-oh, this is dangerous for a musician,’ because I’m gonna be like, ‘Oh, does that mean I could add a glockenspiel in February…?’ Don’t give me that option, or my mind will just go berserk."

Rapper RICK ROSS has cancelled another concert as he continues to recover from two seizures he suffered last week (14Oct11).
The hip-hop star was due to perform at Georgia State University in Atlanta on Friday (21Oct11) but he has pulled out of the gig.
Organisers are offering ticket holders full refunds.
Ross was admitted to hospital in Birmingham, Alabama after two mid-air seizures while flying to various performances in the U.S. He cancelled shows in Tennessee and North Carolina shortly after the health scare.
