SPENCER STREAKED WHEN OBAMA WAS ELECTED AS U.S. PRESIDENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:49 am

Actress OCTAVIA SPENCER ran half-naked down her street when BARACK OBAMA was elected as U.S. President, after losing a bet with filmmaker TATE TAYLOR.
The star was so convinced her fellow Americans would not vote a black man into the White House in 2008 that she vowed to strip off and streak if she lost the wager with her The Help director Taylor.
Spencer kept her word when Obama emerged victorious - but admits she wasn’t completely naked when she stepped up to the challenge.
She tells Britain’s Sunday Mail, "I made a bet with him (Taylor) that if Obama was elected, I would run down the street naked. So I had to do it - and all the neighbours came out and saw. It was hilarious.
"OK, I was not completely naked but I was in my underwear, which was almost the same thing, when I ran screaming down the street.
"I just didn’t think the country was ready for it (a black president) but I’m proud of the fact that we crossed that hurdle. It changed the game for what young men and women of colour can dream of now. That in itself is something I cherish." But Spencer refused to divulge the story to President Obama and his wife Michelle when she met them during a special screening of The Help recently. She says, "I’ve saved that for another time."

GROBAN TO TEAM UP WITH BROTHER FOR NEW VIDEO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

Singer JOSH GROBAN is set to turn his next video into a family affair - he has asked his brother to direct it.
The Believe singer calls filmmaker Chris "one of my favourite people on earth" and he can’t wait to work with him on his latest promo.
He tells WENN, "We’ve got the same birthday four years apart and I adore my brother to death… We’re best of friends and we’re both in the entertainment industry. I’m in the music business and he’s a film director and film editor.
"He’s going to be directing a music video for me next week. I’ve composed music for some of his films. It’s a great thing but it is a perfect example of how, when there is a right sibling situation, there can really be nothing but love there even though it might be a perfect opportunity for rivalry when it’s done. I’m really proud of the fact that my brother and I have done it right."

MINOGUE’S HECTIC SCHEDULE AFFECTED RELATIONSHIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

Australian singer DANNII MINOGUE struggled to be "a gorgeous, happy girlfriend" after the birth of her son last year (10) because her hectic work schedule was making her miserable.
Reports emerged earlier this year (11) suggesting Minogue and boyfriend Kris Smith were set to split after growing unhappy in their romance.
The star dismissed the rumours at the time, but now reveals her work commitments "took a toll" on her personal life.
Minogue, who stepped down from the British panel of The X Factor talent show in the spring (11), admits juggling motherhood, health problems and her TV work put a huge strain on her relationship with Smith.
She tells Britain’s Fabulous magazine, "I have been sick. After Ethan was born I felt really tired and I didn’t get better, I got worse. If I told anyone they’d say I was working too hard.
"I’d had a baby, I was travelling back and forth from Australia to the U.K. doing The X Factor. I was jet-lagged, on the go non-stop, all the things that make you tired. I just kept thinking I’d feel better but I was losing weight, permanently exhausted. I didn’t feel like myself.
"All I will say is it took a toll on every aspect of my life. I couldn’t be a gorgeous, happy girlfriend. I was anxious." Minogue was subsequently diagnosed with an under-active thyroid, and she cut down on her work commitments to focus on her health - a decision she credits with revitalising her relationship.
She adds, "I have to see what happened to me as a blessing. My body forced me to rebalance my life. I just couldn’t do it. I needed to look after myself and my son, be at home with Kris. We needed to get through it together, which is what we have done."

SIR CLIFF BACKS NEW GAY MARRIAGE PROPOSAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

Veteran British singer SIR CLIFF RICHARD has spoken out in favour of gay marriage, insisting same-sex couples should be granted equal rights.
Gay partners in the U.K. are currently only able to enter into civil partnerships, which give them the same legal consequences of heterosexual unions, but are not officially recognised as a marriage.
However, British government officials last month (Sep11) announced plans to introduce a new law which would allow same-sex couples to officially wed.
And Richard has thrown his support behind the proposal because he would love to see his gay friends enjoy the same legal rights as everyone else.
He tells BBC Radio 4, "I don’t see why gay people shouldn’t be married. I have got friends, same-sex couples, who have been together for decades. So for them it’s marriage even though they can’t call it marriage.
"It probably isn’t marriage as such because we recognise it as a man and woman and having babies. (But) that’s neither here nor there for me."

GIBB ‘DETERMINED’ TO RECOVER FROM ILLNESS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

BEE GEES legend ROBIN GIBB is "determined" to fight his way back to full health following his recent hospitalisation.
The Staying Alive hitmaker is in a stable condition at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England, where he was admitted on Thursday (13Oct11) after suffering acute abdominal pains at his home in Oxfordshire.
Gibb’s manager Eaton has now opened up about his pal’s illness, revealing he’s seriously concerned because the star’s twin brother Maurice died of a similar condition in 2003.
But Eaton claims the singer is determined to be fighting fit as soon as possible.
He tells Britain’s The People newspaper, "Obviously it is a worry. This is what did it for his brother Maurice - but what is different is his condition was left for a long time and Robin’s has not been. Our concern is that it keeps recurring but he is determined (to get better) and we just hope things will be OK. Robin just wants to get back to work." Gibb is expected to be discharged following further medical tests.

QUINTO DECIDED TO ‘COME OUT’ AFTER DEATH OF BULLIED GAY TEEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:37 am

STAR TREK actor ZACHARY QUINTO was inspired to ‘come out’ as a homosexual after feeling "indescribable despair" by the tragic suicide of a bullied gay teenager.
The star spoke publicly for the first time about his sexuality in an interview with New York Magazine, confirming longrunning speculation about his choice of lifestyle by referring to himself as "a gay man".
Now Quinto has revealed that he was so "deeply troubled" by the death of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer last month (Sep11) that he was prompted to live his life more openly so he can use his voice to campaign for equal rights for all.
In a post on his blog, Quinto refers to an anti-bullying public service announcement he shot in 2010, writing, "when i found out that jamey rodemeyer killed himself - i felt deeply troubled. but when i found out that jamey rodemeyer had made an it gets better video only months before taking his own life - i felt indescribable despair.
"i also made an it gets better video last year - in the wake of the senseless and tragic gay teen suicides that were sweeping the nation at the time. but in light of jamey’s death - it became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it - is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality. our society needs to recognize the unstoppable momentum toward unequivocal civil equality for every gay lesbian bisexual and transgendered citizen of this country. gay kids need to stop killing themselves because they are made to feel worthless by cruel and relentless bullying. parents need to teach their children principles of respect and acceptance." Quinto admits the timing of his decision coincides well with the Occupy Wall Street protests against inequality and corporate greed, which began in New York and have since spread across the world - but the 34 year old wishes he had ‘come out’ sooner.
He continues, "we are witnessing an enormous shift of collective consciousness throughout the world. we are at the precipice of great transformation within our culture and government. i believe in the power of intention to change the landscape of our society - and it is my intention to live an authentic life of compassion and integrity and action.
"jamey rodemeyer’s life changed mine. and while his death only makes me wish that i had done this sooner - i am eternally grateful to him for being the catalyst for change within me. now i can only hope to serve as the same catalyst for even one other person in this world. that - i believe - is all that we can ask of ourselves and of each other." Pop star and gay rights advocate Lady Gaga was also moved by Rodemeyer’s death, which is believed to have occurred after years of cruel taunts from peers over his sexuality, and she has called on U.S. politicians to make bullying a crime to put a stop to the spate of teen suicides that has gripped America in the past year.
