BENNETT WISHES HE’D MET WINEHOUSE SOONER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:22 am

TONY BENNETT wishes he had met late singer AMY WINEHOUSE sooner, because he is convinced he could have saved the star from her untimely death.
The Rehab hitmaker, who spent years struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, died in July (11), shortly after working on a track with Bennett, a duet called Body and Soul, which became Winehouse’s final recording.
The veteran crooner now wishes he could have crossed paths with the star earlier, because he would have tried to save her before it was too late.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "I’ve also had a period of insecurity and darkness but was able to pull out of it. A lot of people got into drugs in the 60s but I was able to stop. The few I knew who couldn’t stop have died.
"I wished I had been able to talk to her much sooner to tell her to slow down. When I got the call to say she had died I was so sad - 27 years old and she died."
