DEPP APOLOGISES OVER RAPE COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:22 pm

JOHNNY DEPP has apologised for comparing photoshoots to rape in a recent interview following an outcry from activists.
The Hollywood star spoke about his dislike of posing in front of the camera during a chat with Vanity Fair magazine, telling the publication, "Well, you just feel like you’re being raped somehow. Raped. The whole thing. It feels like a kind of weird, just weird, man… Whenever you have a photoshoot or something like that, it’s like - you just feel dumb. It’s just so stupid." His remarks caused a storm of controversy, with angry members of America’s Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) calling for the star to meet victims of sex attacks in order to fully understand the gravity of the crime.
Depp has now apologised for the offence he caused, insisting his comment was down to a "lack of judgement".
He says, "I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way. I never meant to. It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling.
"I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology."

DUNST: ‘I COULD NOT HAVE GOT AWAY WITH ANTICHRIST ROLE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:19 pm

KIRSTEN DUNST is adamant she could never have played the lead in LARS VON TRIER’s shocking movie ANTICHRIST, because her fame and large chest would have made the film even more controversial.
The Danish filmmaker hired Charlotte Gainsbourg to play a woman who mutilates her own genitals while struggling to cope with the loss of her only child in the explicit 2009 film.
Dunst stars in Von Trier’s latest movie, Melancholia, but the Bring It On beauty insists she would have been miscast for his previous work because it’s difficult to match Gainsbourg’s performance.
She tells Britain’s Guardian, "That kind of film (Antichrist) is harder for someone like me to get away with. I’m more in the public eye than Charlotte. It’s something about Charlotte’s body, too. You couldn’t have someone like me, with big breasts, in that film.
"Charlotte’s thin and her breasts are small and that’s easier to watch somehow. For someone like me to do that film - it would almost be ridiculously shocking."

PRINCESS DIANA BLOCKBUSTER PLANNED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:19 pm

The man behind THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE is planning a big budget movie about the breakdown of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES’ marriage to PRINCE CHARLES.
Producer Stephen Evans, who worked on the 1994 historical hit, as well as period pieces Twelfth Night and The Wings of the Dove, has set his sights on creating the first feature film about the beloved late royal since her death in 1997.
The $50 million (£31.2 million) movie will focus on the time leading up to the princess’ divorce from the heir to the British throne in 1996, according to Britain’s Guardian newspaper.
Crime novelist Philip Kerr is onboard to write the script and Princess Diana’s former private secretary and head of security have been hired to make sure the screenplay is authentic.
And Evans is adamant the movie will be a hit, saying, "What is quite clear is that her life was an amazing life.
"She was a wagonload of monkeys (mischievous) but she was also an amazing, fascinating, ballsy woman. You don’t often get a movie like this where you know, that if you can make it work, it is bomb proof."

MCCARTNEY URGES FANS TO SUPPORT TIGER CAMPAIGN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:16 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has thrown his support behind a global campaign to save wild tigers.
The avid animal rights activist and longtime vegetarian is lending his name to TigerTime, which was established in June (11) by conservationist David Shepherd in a bid to raise awareness of the dwindling numbers of tigers left in the wild.
And the Beatles legend has urged his fans to sign a petition supporting the campaign.
He says, "Losing the wild tiger would be unforgivable. We need people power to save it! Please get behind this fabulous initiative. Whatever you do, wherever you live, your voice matters! Every signature makes the campaign stronger." Shepherd adds, "The vast majority of people are shocked to the core when they hear that there are only 3,200 wild tigers left on earth. It is a shockingly low figure. Think of it this way - every wild tiger on earth could stand on just one soccer pitch! Getting that message out to people is vital if we are to save the wild tiger.
"Paul McCartney has a huge following around the world. His support will help us to reach out to people in ever greater numbers. We are asking everyone, from every part of the world, from young to old to add their signature to our cause."

MINNELLI REMEMBERS TAYLOR’S GENEROSITY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:16 pm

LIZA MINNELLI will never forget her late pal ELIZABETH TAYLOR’s kindness, remembering how she once sent a kid a new bike after seeing him take a tumble at the side of a road.
Minnelli was devastated by the death of the Cleopatra legend following her death earlier this year (11), and she reveals her favourite memory of Taylor is when she saw a young boy fall off his bike and rushed to help him.
Minnelli tells Britain’s OK! magazine, "I was in New York (when she died) and I was heartbroken. I had known her since I was 12. She was so generous. We were driving into town one day in Beverly Hills to go shopping. I was driving and we were yammering (chatting) away and suddenly we saw a kid had fallen off his bike. ‘Stop!’ she said, so I pulled over and she was so kind to this little guy. We took him home and the next day she sent him a new bike."

PRIMAL SCREAM ‘DISGUSTED’ BY U.K. POLITICIAN’S SONG USE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:16 pm

Rockers PRIMAL SCREAM have slammed Britain’s Home Secretary THERESA MAY after she used the band’s song ROCKS without permission, insisting the group is "disgusted" to be associated with her political party.
After her speech at the Conservative Party’s annual conference on Tuesday (04Oct11), May walked off the stage to the rockers’ 1994 hit.
But the move has infuriated the band, who have released a statement mocking the politician for failing to understand the meaning behind the music or Primal Scream’s political viewpoint.
The statement reads, "Primal Scream are totally disgusted that the Home Secretary Theresa May ended her speech at the Tory Party conference with our song ‘Rocks’.
"How inappropriate. Didn’t they research the political history of our band? Hasn’t she listened to the words? Does she even know what getting your rocks off means? No. She is a (Conservative) Tory; how could she? "Primal Scream are totally opposed to the coalition government, (Prime Minister David) Cameron, (Chancellor George) Osborne, (Education minister Michael) Gove, (Michael) Howard, (Deputy Prime Minister Nick) Clegg, etc.
"They are legalised bullies passing new laws to ensure the wealthy stay wealthy, taking the side of big business while eradicating workers rights and continuing their attacks on young people, single parents and OAPs (old age pensioners) by slashing education and social security budgets, in effect persecuting the poor for being poor.
"We would like to distance ourselves from this sick association. The Tories are waging a war on the disenfranchised. They are the enemy."

SEYFRIED URGED TO HAVE BOTOX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:13 pm

AMANDA SEYFRIED refuses to undergo Botox because of a lack of research into its potential side-effects, despite acquaintances often insisting she needs the treatment.
The Mamma Mia! star, 25, admits she is already conscious of the small changes to her face as she ages because of the pressure on women in Hollywood to look young.
And although tactless pals urge her to invest in face-freezing injections, the actress doesn’t trust the lack of evidence into the potential dangers of Botox use over several years.
She tells Britain’s Glamour magazine, "Living in a society where there’s so much attention given to age-defying products, I’m really aware of how my face is changing, even at my age… because once you start, I don’t think you can stop.
"A good friend recently told me that I really had to whiten my teeth and I thought to myself, ‘That’s not wrong’, but people I don’t know so well have told me I need Botox, and those people I’ve ignored because although it’s accepted now, the research isn’t there yet."

THE SIMPSONS IN JEOPARDY OVER PAY DISPUTE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:13 pm

Bosses at America’s Fox network have confirmed the future of THE SIMPSONS is in doubt because the animated hit is too expensive to produce.
Following speculation the longrunning cartoon series would be axed next year (12), a spokesperson for the channel has spoken out about their issues negotiating a cut in the cast’s huge pay cheques.
In the statement, the rep says, "We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model. We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement with the voice cast that allows The Simpsons to go on entertaining audiences with original episodes for many years to come." According to reports, the cast, including Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright and Yeardley Smith, each receive around $400,000 (£259,000)-per-episode, which bosses at Fox want to reduce by 45 per cent.
There is a long history of disputes between Fox and the show’s voice actors over payment, with negotiations delaying production by several months in 1998, 2004 and 2008 after talks stalled.
