GOSLING MISSED OUT ON SUPERHERO ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

RYAN GOSLING took a role in new movie DRIVE because he missed out on the chance to star in a superhero film.
The actor appears alongside Carey Mulligan in the movie as a Hollywood stuntman who doubles as a getaway driver, and Gosling has revealed he took on the high-action job because he missed out on the chance to star as a real superhero.
He tells Fox News, "I really wanted to make a superhero film but all the good ones were taken so I thought I would have to make my own at this point… When I read this script I thought there was a way to do that with this stunt driver stuck in the mythology of movies, and that he had become so far removed and watched so many movies, that he started to see his life as one."

VON TRIER ‘NOT SORRY’ FOR NAZI COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

LARS VON TRIER is refusing to apologise for the controversial statements he made about ADOLF HITLER at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL earlier this year (11), even though the remarks led to a ban.
He stunned reporters at a press conference for his film Melancholia in May (11) when he launched into a rant about his German heritage and declared he could "understand" the Nazi leader.
Festival officials condemned his remarks, prompting von Trier to backtrack over his comments and personally apologise for causing a stir, even though he was still subsequently banned from the rest of the week’s events.
Now, opening up about the incident for the first time, the Danish filmmaker admits his public apology was forced and wasn’t true to his feelings.
He tells GQ magazine, "I don’t think there is a right or wrong thing to say. I think that anything can be said. That is very much me… To say I’m sorry for what I said is to say I’m sorry for what kind of a person I am, (and that) I’m sorry for my morals, and that would destroy me as a person.
"It’s not true. I’m not sorry. I am not sorry for what I said. I’m sorry that it didn’t come out more clearly. I’m not sorry that I made a joke. But I’m sorry that I didn’t make it clear that it was a joke. But I can’t be sorry for what I said - it’s against my nature… but that’s maybe where I’m really sick in my mind. You can’t be sorry about something that’s fundamentally you. Maybe I’m a freak in that sense."

WEAVER: ‘GHOSTBUSTERS 3 WON’T HAPPEN WITHOUT MURRAY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

The future of the third GHOSTBUSTERS movie hangs in the balance again - SIGOURNEY WEAVER insists the sequel won’t start shooting if BILL MURRAY doesn’t agree to be part of it.
The actress’ comments come just a month after co-star Dan Aykroyd insisted filming would begin next year (12) with or without Murray - the only castmember from the original movie who has yet to sign up for a third film.
Weaver previously suggested writers should kill off Murray’s character, Peter Venkman, if he didn’t want to be part of the sequel, but now it seems she has changed her mind.
In an interview with Collider.com, she says, "I don’t think any of us would do it if Bill said no. Why would we do that? I think the whole point is to get together and have fun."

WOOD AND MANSON NEEDED TO ‘GROW’ BEFORE MARRIAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:12 am

Actress EVAN RACHEL WOOD is "glad" she ended her engagement to shock rocker MARILYN MANSON - because they both had "a lot more growing to do".
The Wrestler star first began dating Manson in 2006 following his divorce from burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese.
They split in 2008, but reconciled a year later (09) before secretly becoming engaged in January, 2010.
The odd couple parted ways for good in August, 2010 - and although Wood admits she’s happy she didn’t go through with the wedding, she has no regrets about her time with Manson.
She tells Marie Claire magazine, "I am glad - for both of us. We both have a lot more growing to do. I don’t think it would’ve been right, but I am glad that we were engaged. I think we needed to make a statement to each other that it was legit. So that was good." Wood has since been linked to her ex-boyfriend Jamie Bell, who she originally dated in 2006.
The reunited couple was spotted walking hand-in-hand in New York in June (11) and the actress suggests their relationship is serious again.
She says coyly, "I mean, I’ve got his initial tattooed on my ankle, so…"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:12 am

Singer JORDIN SPARKS has urged young teens to push their boundaries and explore other parts of the world after experiencing her own life-altering travels over the summer (11).
The former American Idol star jetted to Europe with cross-cultural organisation People to People, and was amazed by how much she could squeeze into such a short vacation, thanks to some careful planning with group officials.
And now Sparks is encouraging fans to follow suit and broaden their horizons.
During an appearance on U.S. chat show The Talk on Friday (16Sep11), the No Air hitmaker said, "People to People is an organisation that helps get students overseas to explore different things and be more culturally aware… I brought my brother with me, we went and it was amazing the access People to People has.
"So you can go over there (to Europe) on your own and say you’re gonna see the Louvre (Museum in Paris) and then see the Eiffel Tower, and it might take you two days. But in one day we went to a concentration camp and from there we went to Innsbruck (Austria) and learned how to make apple strudel, and then we went to France - all within 17 hours. It was incredible and it was just an amazing experience."

IRON MAIDEN FANS RAISE OVER $57,000 FOR JAPAN AID

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:09 am

Heavy rockers IRON MAIDEN have raised more than $57,600 (£36,000) for the ongoing relief efforts in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March (11).
The band was travelling to Tokyo for two shows when the massive 9.0-magnitude tremor struck and they were forced to divert their jet to Nagoya in the wake of the disaster.
Both of their gigs were cancelled - but the stars offered up T-shirts intended for sale at the concerts to benefit the Japanese Red Cross, which continues to work hard to provide aid for victims of the quake.
And the Iron Maiden stars have now revealed just how generous their fans have been.
In a statement, the band says, "The terrific support from our fans has resulted in over £36,000 being raised in proceeds from the sales of the Japanese event shirt through the Iron Maiden shop and a retail version of the shirt which was sold in the USA. The band have channelled all their profits and royalties into the fund, which has been donated to the Japanese Red Cross charity.
"We’d like to thank everyone who took part in this initiative in support of our fellow Maiden fans in Japan and the many others affected by the tsunami."

MUSTAINE RISKED PARALYSIS AT BIG FOUR SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:06 am

Heavy metal star DAVE MUSTAINE risked paralysis by pressing ahead with MEGADETH’s concert in New York on Wednesday (14Sep11) - because he needed urgent surgery to fix a painful neck injury.
The headbanging rocker played through the pain to hit the stage for the Big Four gig at the new Yankee Stadium after suffering an injury during Megadeth’s recent Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour.
He wore a neckbrace as protection during the show, but admits one wrong move could have put an end to his rock career.
Speaking to RollingStone.com before the concert, he said, "I was in a hospital (on Tuesday) morning, so I’m going home to get (neck) surgery right after this.
"It’s pretty bad. If I move wrong tonight, I could be paralysed." Mustaine reveals Megadeth almost pulled out of the gig - but he decided to put his faith in a higher power and go through with the stadium set.
He added, "We called and said I couldn’t make (the gig). And then I thought about it and I thought, ‘You know what? I trust God and I know He’s got me in his hands.’ I know that he hasn’t brought me this far through all this diversity and done all this reconciliation with all the (other) bands and us all getting along this well to have the finale show here in the States stopped. And I just thought, either God’s everything or it’s nothing, and I believe in Him, so that’s why I’m here." The rocker’s surgery means Megadeth have been forced to delay an upcoming concert in Dubai, United Arab Emirates until December (11).

GOSLING WANTS TO START ‘MAKING BABIES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:03 am

Actor RYAN GOSLING is eager to cut down on his busy work schedule so he can settle down and start "making babies".
The Notebook hunk, 30, admits he’s been putting his career above his personal life for too long, blaming the pressure of Hollywood for his failed romances with "the greatest girlfriends" Rachel McAdams and Sandra Bullock.
He tells Britain’s The Times newspaper, "I had two of the greatest girlfriends of all time. I haven’t met anybody who could top them…. Showbusiness is the bad guy. When both people are in show business it’s too much showbusiness. It takes all of the light, so nothing else can grow." Gosling has since been romantically linked to sexy Latina Eva Mendes, but the actor insists he is "in a committed relationship with film", adding, "I’m giving as much to it as a marriage".
However, the star would love nothing better than to start a family.
He laments, "I’d like to be making babies but I’m not, so I’m making movies. When someone comes along I don’t think I’ll be able to do both and I’m fine with that. I’ll make movies until I make babies. I have no idea when the handover will happen." Gosling dated Bullock in 2002, while he parted from his The Notebook co-star McAdams for good in 2008. The couple enjoyed a brief reunion after initially splitting in 2007 after two years together.

SHEEN: ‘I WAS OUT OF CONTROL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN has confessed he was like a "runaway train" at the height of his meltdown earlier this year (11), admitting he careered "absolutely" out of control.
Sheen’s TV sitcom Two and a Half Men stalled in February (11) following a series of bizarre antics, which began with the star trashing a hotel room in New York over a missing watch and ended with his hospitalisation following an all-night party.
He was then fired from the show in March (11) after publicly feuding with producers and series creator Chuck Lorre - and the incident sent the actor on a downward spiral in which he spent several weeks making crazed public appearances.
He blasted TV executives and co-stars online, lost custody of his twin sons, staged a bizarre touring one-man show, and made famous a number of oddball slogans by insisting he was pumped with "tiger blood" and was "winning".
Now Sheen has spoken out to admit his behaviour was out of control, but he’s adamant many of his madcap antics were done in jest.
During an appearance on U.S. programme The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday (15Sep11), Sheen said, "It was like a runaway train that I was kind of the reluctant conductor of. And it just kept going.
"I said some things that were a little out there. I might have overshot the mark a little bit. But these were just metaphors. I didn’t really believe I had tiger blood or Adonis DNA. These were just jokes." And when host Leno asked the star if he thought he had been out of control, Sheen responded, "Absolutely" before adding: "I can’t (do it again) Jay. I don’t have the energy. I’m out of slogans." Later echoing the same sentiment on U.S. breakfast show Today on Friday (16Sep11), Sheen told fans, "I think it’s important that people see, that I see, and that I feel, that that was just one crazy chapter and one weird phase. I was this guy before it started and so I can be that guy again afterwards."
