OLDMAN SHUNS SHOWBIZ LIFESTYLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:15 pm

Actor GARY OLDMAN shuns the trappings of showbiz because he prefers his "very normal, very ordinary life".
The veteran British star’s career dates back to the 1980s, but despite a top role in the Harry Potter franchise, Oldman prefers to keep himself out of the spotlight.
He tells Esquire magazine, "I’ve never really courted it (fame). I still don’t have a publicist. If I’m in a film, you have an obligation to promote it, I’ll do as much as I can.
"Overall I enjoy a certain anonymity. I live a very normal, very ordinary life." And Oldman insists his actress sister Maureen, who appears in British soap opera EastEnders, is recognised more often than himself.
He adds, "I would think Maureen (is recognised more). It’s weird it comes in waves."

LETO MAKING MOVIE ABOUT EMI WRANGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:12 pm

Rockers 30 SECONDS TO MARS are making a movie about their battle against record giant EMI.
Executives at the parent company of their label Virgin Music sued the band in 2008 for $30 million (£18.75 million), claiming the stars failed to produce an agreed number of albums.
Frontman Jared Leto and his bandmates fought back against the industry chiefs - and the case was eventually settled in 2009.
Now Leto wants to tell his side of the story with a film, according to music industry expert Bob Lefsetz.
In a post on his blog, Lefsetz writes, "He’s (Leto) making a movie about 30 Seconds To Mars and its fight with EMI in the wake of the Terra Firma takeover. They were bugging me eons ago, but then faded away, I saw the album came out (sic), I figured the film was shelved. But then Jared himself tracked me down, said it was still on and would I come on camera and testify." Bosses at private equity firm Terra Firma purchased EMI for £4.2 billion in 2007.

PROSECUTORS WANT JACKSON MEDICAL RECORDS SEALED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:57 am

Prosecutors working on the upcoming manslaughter trial surrounding MICHAEL JACKSON’s death are seeking to keep reports from the coroner and fire officials sealed until after the case goes to court.
The King of Pop’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is accused of administering the drug that killed Jackson in June, 2009 and jury selection for the trial is due to begin next week (08Sep11).
Bosses at Jackson’s concert promoters, AEG Live, are in the midst of a civil suit with executives at Lloyd’s of London over the insurance policy for the Thriller hitmaker’s doomed This Is It shows, for which the singer had been preparing for at the time of his death.
That suit requires the parties involved to look over official records surrounding the cause of Jackson’s passing - but prosecutors fear disclosure of the documents could cause key information to be leaked to the media before Murray’s trial is complete.
Los Angeles Deputy District Attorneys David Walgren and Deborah Brazil made the request to keep the records private in court papers filed on Wednesday (31Aug11), expressing that the case had already received "significant, unrelenting media attention".
Jackson had been insured by Lloyd’s of London for $17.5 million (£10.9 million) for the concert series. Company officials are fighting a pay out, arguing that the singer did not disclose the full list of drugs that he was taking at the time of his death.

INSANE CLOWN POSSE SHOCKED WHITE WANTED TO COLLABORATE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:54 am

Hip-hop group INSANE CLOWN POSSE were awestruck when JACK WHITE reached out for a collaboration, because they had no idea why the rocker would want to be associated with one of the "most non-respected musicians today".
The former White Stripes star has produced the horror-rappers’ new single Lick My A**, which will be released on White’s Third Man Records.
But rapper Violent J admits the song wasn’t even their idea.
He tells MTV News, "(White) called us out of the blue and asked if we’d be down to come down to Nashville, to his studio, to do some work. He’s one of the most respected musicians today, and we’re one of the most non-respected musicians today, and I think he knew it would drop a lot of jaws and shock people." It took some convincing for White to get the Posse onboard the project, which makes use of a little-known Mozart tune, explicitly titled Lech Mich Im Arsch, which translates in English to ‘lick me in the a**s’.
The rapper says, "(I thought), ‘Nah, man, I’m not into Mozart. We don’t know nothing about that s**t.’ And when we went into the studio, and he told us about the ‘lick my a**’ thing, we were like, ‘OK, we get it.’ A song called Lick My A**, put ICP on it. We like to think there’s a little more method to our madness. But once he told us that Mozart had a fun side to him, and liked to f**k around with his friends and make funny songs and s**t like that, we all jelled." And Violent J admits the duo will be forever grateful to White for taking a chance on them, even if others won’t be as accepting of their music: "He was really cool and, of course, we were really geeked. We were like, ‘Hell yeah, we’ll do a song with Jack White. That’s awesome.’ And we were hella (sic) thankful, but at the same time, we knew he was going to catch a lot of s**t for it."

GAGA LANDS IN TOP 10 ON VANITY FAIR’S NEW ESTABLISHMENT LIST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:54 am

LADY GAGA has been named one of Vanity Fair magazine’s top 50 most innovative visionaries, becoming the highest ranked woman at number nine on the annual New Establishment List.

But the stars of the New Establishment List aren’t all technical geeks - Gaga scores her second consecutive appearance just inside the top 10.
She is the highest-placed female, ahead of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling at 16 - and the 25-year-old singer is also the youngest person to make the cut.
Other celebrities featured among the top leaders of our time include director Judd Apatow (20), rap superstar Jay-Z (21), actor/producer Mark Wahlberg (29), Ashton Kutcher (43) and Justin Timberlake (50).

DRAKE WISHES BIEBER SWORE ON TRACK REMIX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:51 am

DRAKE is disappointed JUSTIN BIEBER made his remix of the rapper’s song TRUST ISSUES child-friendly, because he was convinced the teen superstar would show his "transformation" into a young man by keeping all the curse words in.
The Baby hitmaker showed his admiration for Drake’s work by releasing an unofficial cover of the track earlier this week (begs29Aug11).
But Bieber made sure his verse on the tune was suitable for his young fanbase by changing Drake’s references to his lovers as "b**ches" to the more respectful "women". He also altered Drake’s line, "F**k it, I’m on one", to "You know I’m on one." But the pop star’s move to censor the lyrics has left the Forever rapper a little downbeat.
He tells MTV News, "I wish he would’ve left all the cuss words in it. I feel like that would’ve been so G (gangsta), if he would’ve done all the swearing.
"I was excited when I heard he remixed it, because there was like a gang of swearing in that song. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re about to hear the transformation of Bieber.’"

WILLIAMS SUFFERS FROM CHRONIC AUTOIMMUNE SYNDROME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:51 am

Tennis ace VENUS WILLIAMS has been diagnosed with a little-known chronic autoimmune disease.
The sports star was forced to pull out of the U.S. Open on Wednesday afternoon (31Aug11), just before she was due on court for her second round match against German Sabine Lisicki in New York.
She has now revealed she’s suffering from Sjogren’s syndrome, which occurs when white blood cells attack the body’s moisture-producing glands.
Doctors only managed to identify the ailment in August (11) after Williams experienced years of health issues, which were initially diagnosed as exercise-induced asthma.
Williams admits the severe fatigue that comes with the syndrome has played havoc on her career and her emotions.
In a U.S. TV interview on Thursday (01Sep11), she says, "Looking back, it’s affected my career in a huge way. I’ve been playing a lot of matches with half a deck. It’s mentally destructive going into matches and wondering which balls can I run for and am I going to be able to compete…
"The fatigue is hard to explain unless you have it. You almost get used to it. You tell yourself to shake it off. Just keep going. Over time, you do start to wonder what’s happening and if you’re going crazy." But she’s vowed to fight back and is aiming to be back in action sooner rather than later: "I feel really positive about getting back on the court and at least being able to feel normal. I feel like now I can get better."

MORRIS’ PHOTOSHOOT FOR SHIELDS DRAWS CONTROVERSY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

GLEE star HEATHER MORRIS has come under fire for appearing to glamorise domestic violence after taking part in a controversial shoot with celebrity photographer TYLER SHIELDS.
The blonde actress poses for the cameras sporting a black eye and is even tied up with the cord of an iron in one daring image.
The pictures have been posted on Shields’ website, depicting Morris as "a subversive ‘Barbie style’ housewife".
In the accompanying blog post, he writes, "Even Barbie bruises. We have been talking about shooting for a long time and we finally made it happen! Some magic, irons, and bruises later it was complete." But not everyone is a fan of Shields’ shots.
One website user writes, "I do.not.get.it. Why do you keep producing photos glamorizing violence against women?" Another adds, "So wait… we’re glamorizing bruises/abuse now?" However, Shields has defended the photoshoot as a work of art.
He tells TooFab.com, "It was something we both wanted to do, a bruised up Barbie. In no way were we promoting domestic violence. We both loved the idea and we both love the photos." Shields is no stranger to controversy - he previously photographed Lindsay Lohan holding a gun to her head.

POLANSKI’S CARNAGE WINS OVER VENICE FILM FESTIVAL CRITICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

Director ROMAN POLANSKI’s new comedy CARNAGE has become a big hit with critics at the Venice Film Festival - the movie was given a huge round of applause at an early press screening on Thursday (01Sep11).
The filmmaker snubbed an invite to attend the world premiere of his project at the prestigious Italian event, but his absence had little affect on the media’s rousing reaction to the film, which is based on the hit Broadway play God of Carnage.
The big-screen adaptation stars Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz as two sets of parents who meet up after their kids brawl at school - and their performances have been well-received by film critics.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Todd McCarthy writes, "Roman Polanski’s mastery of films within small spaces is evident in his adaptation of the Yasmina Reza play." Meanwhile, a writer for Britain’s The Telegraph newspaper brands Carnage "well-acted and giddily enjoyable", while the Associated Press reporter notes the comedy drew "rounds of applause and riotous laughter" at the early screening.
Winslet, Reilly and Waltz were all on hand to celebrate the big premiere on Thursday afternoon, while Polanski and Foster were notable absences.
Polanski’s decision to stay away is said to stem from the legal battle which ensued after he was arrested at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland in 2009. He subsequently fought extradition to the U.S. to face court proceedings linked to a 1977 sex case.
Polanski was allowed to walk free following several months of jail time and house arrest at his Swiss chalet after the extradition bid fell apart.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

DANNY DEVITO and PATRICIA HEATON were among the Hollywood stars rocked when an earthquake hit Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon (01Sep11).
A 4.2-magnitude quake, centred 24 miles (38.6 kilometres) northwest of downtown L.A., shook the city and several aftershocks followed.
The former Everybody Loves Raymond star Heaton quickly took to her Twitter.com page, asking fans, "Was there an earthquake in LA? My desk just shook like crazy", before adding: "Whoohoo! Earthquake LA! Life is precarious, people - carpe diem!" Pauley Perrette was on the set of her hit series NCIS at the time of the tremors, and she updated her followers on the situation at the TV studios.
In a series of posts, she writes, "4.2 magnitude centered right here by the #NCIS stage. All is well, lots of equipment shook. Another after shock. Keeps going. It’s right underneath us at #NCIS but all’s well." DeVito took the opportunity to joke, "Earthquake? Or a small dog fart? 4.2 nice adjustment", while singer Sam Sparro also felt the quake: "That was an earthquake? I thought people were doing it upstairs."

COWELL RULES OUT HAVING KIDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

Former AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL has ruled out the idea of having children because he lacks the time and patience to bring up a baby with his hectic lifestyle.
The star, who is engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, admits he has always wanted to become a father, but as a 51-year-old music and reality TV mogul, he isn’t convinced he’d be a good dad.
He tells GQ magazine, "Truthfully, with the schedule, the crazy hours, I don’t think it would work… With the way I live my life, I wouldn’t have the patience. I’d sort of want people born at the age of 10."

SHELTON PENS RELATIONSHIP ADVICE COLUMN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

Country star BLAKE SHELTON has penned a love advice column for top U.S. women’s publication Cosmopolitan.
The Honey Bee hitmaker, who wed country sweetheart Miranda Lambert earlier this year (11), dishes out dating tips and tried-and-trusted ways to woo a guy and win his heart.
He writes, "It strikes a guy when a woman isn’t clingy but still lets you know she’s with you. It’s a balancing act, but I’ve always liked it when a woman can blend in with my friends and not just sit in the corner." And he’s convinced the best place for a date is a sports bar.
He continues, "Every guy wants the kind of woman who is OK going to a sports bar. Most guys don’t feel comfortable with a candlelit dinner. But in a room with fun music playing and a pool table in the corner? That relaxes him." And Shelton insists continuing to impress a partner is important in a relationship: "Men and women should use whatever they’ve got to continue to impress the other person. I’d always pull out my guitar and play a song. Women should show off their talents too."

PUKKELPOP SUPPORT FUND ESTABLISHED FOR STORM VICTIMS’ FAMILIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

The families of music fans killed following a stage collapse at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival last month (Aug11) have been offered financial support from a fund established in the victims’ memory.
Four people died and more than 70 were injured when storms brought one of the stages at the three-day event crashing down during U.S. band Smith Westerns’ set on 18 August (11).
The tragedy prompted organisers to cancel the rest of the festival activities and performances from the likes of Good Charlotte and the Foo Fighters, and now they have announced the creation of the Support Fund for the Victims of the Pukkelpop Storm to help the grieving relatives through their tough time.
In a statement, festival officials say, "The full amount of every donation, large or small, will go to the victims."
