INDIAN OFFICIALS WANT TO AXE BOND TRAIN SCENE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

Indian officials have asked producers of the latest JAMES BOND movie to axe a scene depicting travellers on train rooftops, as the practice is illegal in the country.
The script for the untitled 23rd Bond film called for Daniel Craig, who plays the secret agent, to jump onto the roof of a moving train packed with passengers.
But authorities fear the show-stopping stunt would promote fare-evading and cast a negative light on the government-operated railway.
Indian Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi tells AFP, "Rooftop travel is illegal in India and it cannot be encouraged. Rooftop travel will not be shown. (Filming) has to be safe and passengers should not be inconvenienced." Shooting is scheduled for February or March next year (12).

COOGAN PROMISES TO KEEP PHONE-HACKING SCANDAL IN HEADLINES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 am

Actor STEVE COOGAN has pledged to use his fame to keep Britain’s phone-hacking scandal in the headlines - to ensure executives are held accountable for their actions.
The Tropic Thunder star launched legal action against the editors of now-defunct U.K. tabloid the News of the World over claims his voice mail messages were improperly accessed.
The publication, which was run by embattled mogul Rupert Murdoch, closed in July (11) after 168 years in print, but Coogan refuses to let those responsible for hacking off the hook.
He tells Britain’s Guardian newspaper, "Because I’m a more populist person and I reach a more generalised audience that goes beyond broadsheets I can help keep it in the popular imagination and I will do everything in my power to keep it in the popular imagination." The comic also reveals he has snubbed an offer from lawyers for News Group, the subsidiary that owned News of the World, to settle the case. He estimates the battle has cost him more than $160,000 (£100,000) so far.
He adds, "It (the settlement) wouldn’t have covered the costs but it would have taken the sting out of what I’d spent."

LOTT BLAMES INTERNET FOR STARS’ OPEN LIVES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

British singer PIXIE LOTT wants to scrap social networking websites, because she’s adamant they’ve ruined the glamour and mystery of fame.
The Mama Do hitmaker is a frequent user of Twitter.com and has more than a million ‘friends’ on Facebook, but she insists modern-day celebrities are no longer "proper stars" because their life is an open book online.
Lott tells Britain’s Live magazine, "Maybe we should get rid of social networking. We don’t have proper stars any more and things like Twitter are partly to blame. I long for the old days of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, stars who had real glamour and mystique.
"We only knew so much about their lives, the rest was a mystery. They’d often come out with these wonderful quotes - you wouldn’t be reading their Twitter updates every two minutes. They never looked ordinary - and they would never be photographed jogging in the park.
"That’s how stars should be. Having said that, my fans would be really upset if I stopped tweeting. So I guess a loss of mystique is the price I’ve had to pay."

BAHAMAS LOCALS DON’T KNOW WHO KRAVITZ’S CELEBRITY FRIENDS ARE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

LENNY KRAVITZ loves his home in the Bahamas - because no one knows who his famous friends are.
The rocker has played host to pals like Penelope Cruz and Mick Jagger at his humble abode on Eleuthera and he admits they love the anonymity the place affords them.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I brought Mick Jagger there once. We went to a shack to get a beer, and they asked, ‘So, what do you do?’ He was like, ‘I make music.’ ‘What kind of music?’ ‘Rock ‘n’ roll’. ‘Oh great.’ "Then the guy started talking about fishing." Kravitz bought his plot of land on the island with the cash he received after signing his first record deal in 1989. The estate came with a rundown shack and he has since set up an Airstream trailer and a recording studio there. He also operates a small farm, which provides him with all the vegetables he needs when he visits his home from home.

HUMAN LEAGUE STAR BLASTS TV TALENT SHOWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

HUMAN LEAGUE star SUSAN SULLEY has become the latest celebrity to blast reality TV talent shows, insisting wannabe stars who try out for shows like AMERICAN IDOL and THE VOICE are focusing on the wrong things.
The Don’t You Want Me singer had no performance experience when frontman Phil Oakey picked her and pal Joanne Catherall from obscurity and asked them to join his band, and she doesn’t believe today’s talent show hopefuls are prepared for what the big time requires.
She tells Spinner.com, "Nowadays it’s all about vocal acrobats and a wide vocal range, but I don’t think you need all that. You don’t all have to be the same, you can be a bit more individual.
"None of my heroes would get past the audition round. David Bowie, Gary Numan, and Bryan Ferry just wouldn’t stand a chance." And she doesn’t think she, Oakey and Catherall would impress either: "There are three of us, two of whom have never written a song and are pretty average singers. Plus, we’ve got a lead singer who doesn’t consider himself a singer at all and he can’t play any instruments very well."

Conlon tells the Los Angeles Times, "I was a big supporter of Salvatore from the beginning… and it’s astonishing to have been with him singing three to four weeks ago and now he’s gone. He was an important voice." Licitra is survived by his fiancee, who was riding behind him in the scooter crash but was unhurt.
