FARROW VISITS AFRICAN REFUGEE CAMP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:12 pm

Actress and activist MIA FARROW has appealed for aid to stop the "terrible" famine crisis in Africa after a harrowing visit to a refugee camp in Kenya.
The Rosemary’s Baby star is an outspoken campaigner for refugee causes, particularly those affecting children in war-torn areas, and is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
Farrow recently visited a camp in north-eastern Kenya, where refugees are flocking in a bid to find food, and she’s horrified at the severity of the crisis.
She says, "Something huge is happening, and it’s terrible. So many of the kids haven’t made it, have died along the way. This is an acute emergency.
"The good news is that they are being processed and there will be nourishment for the severely malnourished children. Most of them, I hope, will be saved.
"We’re having hard times around the world, I’m aware of that. But they’re not as hard as for the people here. I mean, most of us can count on surviving the night. UNICEF needs your help to save lives, the lives of children in the Horn of Africa, who depend on you and me right now."

My Chemical Romance star Gerard Way calls Mercury "the most important frontman to (me when I was) growing up as little boy", and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins adds in his clip, "Freddie, we miss you and love you. KUNIS URGES YOUNG PEOPLE TO TAKE INTEREST IN POLITICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Actress MILA KUNIS is frustrated about the lack of interest in U.S. politics, insisting it’s "crazy" American youngsters "don’t educate themselves about the world".
The Black Swan star is a staunch supporter of President Barack Obama and she’s baffled that others in her age group don’t hold political views.
She’s urged the youth of America to sit down with a book or newspaper and learn about current affairs - for the sake of their own children.
Kunis tells Britain’s Stylist magazine, "Yes (I’m frustrated), because you are given such an amazing opportunity with so much information. Why is no-one taking advantage of it? You don’t have to watch Fox News or CNN or MSNBC; you don’t have to be part of a political party, you could just read. Why is nobody reading? I feel like, in our generation, people don’t read.
"They don’t read books, they don’t read the paper, they don’t read the news. So obviously you are incredibly ill-informed to the point where they will go do these tests in Middle America… And they’ll ask, ‘OK, what party are you?’ And they’ll say, ‘Republican’. ‘Why?’ And they can’t even tell you. They have no idea what the Republican Party stands for.
"Why did I vote for Obama? I can tell you why I voted for him, what I agreed and disagreed with him on, for hours. It’s crazy to me that people don’t educate themselves about the world considering so many of them have children who are going to suffer because of it.
"Whoever you vote for, don’t do it just because. And don’t tell me it’s because of religion either because that whole thing is knocked completely out the window. So you better just educate yourself."

WALLIAMS FORCED TO CHANGE INTO WETSUIT FOR MARATHON SWIM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

British funnyman DAVID WALLIAMS had to change into a wetsuit on the first day of his challenging marathon swim amid fears he had hypothermia after his skin turned blue.
The Little Britain star is swimming the length of England’s River Thames from Gloucestershire to Big Ben in London, a total of 140-miles (225-kilometres), to raise money for Sport Relief.
Walliams was waved off by fans and his wife, supermodel Lara Stone, as he began the eight-day feat on Monday (05Sep11).
But a short distance into his swim the comedian had to change out of his trunks and into a wetsuit on his first stop to prevent him from suffering hypothermia after his trainer noticed his back turning blue.
Walliams says, "The first section of the swim has really shocked me. The water is two degrees colder than when I swam the (English) Channel, just 15 degrees. Although that doesn’t sound like much, it has made a massive difference to how I’ve been able to cope.
"Even though I don’t like swimming in wetsuits because they’re restrictive, I just had to wear one. Even if it only makes me think about the cold every 10 seconds rather than every five seconds. I’m a bit daunted by the way this has started. You can train as much as you want but with these kind of things you don’t really know what it will be like until you start them." Walliams had to stop his first day behind schedule because he was in "a lot of pain", according to the Sport Relief Twitter.com page.
But the TV star set off on the challenge again on Tuesday morning (06Sep11) - and he’s already facing difficult conditions.
Another post from Sport Relief reads, "The rain, for obvious reasons, is only mildly annoying for David. This cross wind on the other hand is making life very tough."

Colyar claims there was a racial motive behind the request and has now hired top attorney Milton Grimes to pursue the lawsuit, reports TMZ.com.
Grimes was one of the lawyers who successfully represented Rodney King after he was infamously beaten by police in 1991. He eventually won a $3.8 million (£2.4 million) settlement.

PREGNANT BRUNI VOWS TO KEEP BABY OUT OF SPOTLIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

France’s First Lady CARLA BRUNI has vowed to shield the baby she’s expecting with President NICOLAS SARKOZY from the public eye, insisting she’ll be "absolutely rigorous" about protecting the tot’s privacy.
The supermodel-turned-singer, who is weeks away from giving birth, is adamant she will never release photos of the infant to the public.
She tells French TV show Sept-A-Huit, "You don’t have a child for the (photo) gallery. (My) position as the wife of the head of state has made me even more defensive. I understand the media interest, and I don’t see any inconvenience in it for myself or my husband, but when it concerns the children, it’s not impossible.
"I will do everything to protect this infant and I’ll be absolutely rigorous. I will never show photos of this child, I will never expose this child." Bruni went on to admit her regret after taking her son Aurelian, now 11, with her on a public trip with Sarkozy to Petra in Jordan in 2008.
She recalls, "My eldest son was exposed once, not in a public situation but in a private one, and it was a great error. I should never have taken my son to visit this magnificent site. I should have foreseen there would be photographers."

HARDING ‘SPLITS FROM FIANCE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

British pop star SARAH HARDING has called off her engagement to her DJ fiance TOM CRANE, according to U.K. reports.
The Girls Aloud singer was due to marry Crane next year (12) but they have now parted ways after a last-ditch effort to save their romance failed.
Harding flew to Ibiza, Spain last week (ends04Sep11) to try and patch up the relationship after a series of arguments but instead the pair decided to split, according to Britain’s The Sun.
A source tells the newspaper, "Sarah and Tom had a huge bust-up and told each other the wedding is off. Although they’ve always managed to patch things up in the past, it’s worse than anything they’ve gone through before.
"They’ve been fighting like cat and dog. Their relationship has been strained because he’s been in Ibiza for the summer and Sarah was working here (in England).
"They’ve always had a volatile relationship but this time it’s far worse. If they do get married, they both need to start living their lives differently - and that’s not going to happen any time soon.
"It’s a shame as they do really love each other but pals can’t see how there can be a way back from this."
