Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Rapper/actor COMMON will never forget the day soul icon ERYKAH BADU broke his heart - she dumped him over the phone after falling for someone else.
The stars dated for two years before their split in 2002 and Common admits the break up hit him hard - because Badu was his first real love.
In an appearance on America’s The Wendy Williams Show, he recalls, "She handed it to me. I was in my hotel room on tour and… she called me and was like, ‘Hey, I don’t wanna be in this relationship no more. I’m liking somebody else (sic).’" Badu, who previously dated Outkast’s Andre 3000, went on to have a child with another rapper, The D.O.C., but Common refuses to hold the harsh let down against the On & On hitmaker - and insists they are now good friends.
He says, "That was my first love and my first heartbreak, but it taught me a lot of things, and when it happened I kinda really got into myself and really learned about myself and I was able to move on, and now me and E is real cool (sic)." Common also reveals he’s close to another ex-girlfriend after ending his on/off romance with tennis star Serena Williams for good earlier this year (11).
He adds, "We’re just friends now."

The Social Network star plays Prince Andrew Alcott opposite Julia Roberts in the as-yet-untitled film, but he admits he clashed with production bosses on the movie set because he couldn’t stand the thought of going bare, which was required for his character.
He tells Details magazine, "Julia (Roberts) had a line about how smooth my chest is, and it’s not. So the producers were like, ‘OK, just shave him.’ And I was like, ‘Whoa. I spent 25 years earning this chest hair. I’m wearing purple tights and a codpiece, so, please, let me keep my manhood.’"

PUTIN HELPED TO SOURCE FUNDING FOR SOKUROV’S FAUST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Russian Prime Minister VLADIMIR PUTIN stepped in to help director ALEXANDER SOKUROV finance his critically-acclaimed FAUST.
The Russian project, based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s play about a scholar who sells his soul to the devil, won over the jury at the Venice Film Festival in Italy and earned Sokurov the prestigious Golden Lion prize on Saturday (10Sep11), but the director admits Faust would never have been made if Putin had not offered his assistance following the global economic crisis of 2009.
The pair met to discuss the plans for the movie and Sokurov was shocked to receive an offer of $10.9 million (£6.8 million) from officials at the Fund for the Support of the Development of Mass Media just a month after their chat.
The filmmaker tells AFP, "The film would not have seen the light if Putin had not found the funding.
"I was astonished and never understood why Putin, who has never been a friend of mine, decided to support the film… (He) expressed only one wish: that the feature film, shot in German, should be a Russian production."

POLANSKI PAYS TRIBUTE TO ‘OLDEST FRIEND’ MORGENSTERN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Director ROMAN POLANSKI is mourning the death of his "oldest friend", Polish filmmaker JANUSZ MORGENSTERN, who passed away last week (ends09Sep11).
The producer and director died on 6 September (11) at the age of 89. Morgenstern made his name directing films Goodbye, See You Tomorrow (1960), Jowita (1967) and We Have to Kill this Love (1972).
His funeral was held in Warsaw on Monday (12Sep11) and Polanski was on hand to pay a touching tribute to his late pal, who he’d met while they were both students at the Lodz film school in Poland.
Speaking at the televised memorial, Polanski said, "For me, he was not a representative of the Polish film industry. He was simply my oldest friend. I just want to say to him: ‘Goodbye, my friend’." The Rosemary’s Baby director, who was born in France but raised in Poland, made the appearance just days after shunning an invitation to attend the Venice Film Festival in Italy, where his new movie Carnage had its world premiere earlier this month (Sep11).
His decision was reportedly based on the legal battle which ensued after he was arrested at the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland in 2009. He subsequently fought extradition to the U.S. to face court proceedings linked to a 1977 sex case.
He was allowed to walk free following several months of jail time and house arrest at his Swiss chalet after the extradition bid fell apart.
Polanski was able to attend the funeral of Morgenstern because officials in both Poland and France have promised not to extradite him.

ANDERSON CHEATED DEATH IN STORM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

Rocker BRETT ANDERSON cheated death in the infamous Great Storm which battered Britain in the 1980s, claiming 22 lives.
The Suede frontman grew up on the south coast of the U.K., which was the worst-hit area when hurricane-force gusts and devastating whirlwinds struck in October 1987.
Now he’s opened up about the terrifying night of horror, revealing he was inches from being killed when an enormous tree crashed through the roof of his former girlfriend’s home.
Anderson, who was aged 20 at the time, tells Britain’s Guardian, "During the Great Storm of 1987, I was staying in the spare room at my ex-girlfriend’s parents’ house when a huge oak tree crashed through the roof and stopped two-feet from my head.
"Luckily, I had closed the door which supported the trunk just enough to stop it from crushing my skull like a walnut." The storm was the worst to hit Britain in almost 300 years and caused huge devastation across the U.K.’s south coast and the northern part of France.

SMITH’S ANGER AT REACTION TO RIOTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

THE CURE rocker ROBERT SMITH is frustrated at the fallout from the recent riots in Britain, insisting the unrest has paved the way for politicians to turn the country into a police state.
Court judges in the U.K. have been handing down savage sentences to those involved in the violence last month (Aug11) to reflect the scale of public anger at the looting and arson which made headlines around the world.
But Boys Don’t Cry singer Smith is adamant the rolling news reports of the riots made them seem more prevalent than they actually were - and he’s accused British Home Secretary Theresa May of exploiting the unrest to introduce tough new laws.
He tells British magazine Guide, "They keep showing the same images over and over, and it gives the impression it’s happening everywhere, all the time. Perspective has been lost.
"Suddenly you’ve got all these polls saying, ‘Give the police live ammunition.’ And I’m like, ‘Hold on! It’s not that bad, really’… (It’s) a dream come true for Theresa May… it just paves the way for the police to be armed, curfews to be put in. It’s like we’re all sliding inexorably towards this f**king police state, populated with roaming gangs, like a 2000AD comic."

MANILOW BATTLING HEART DISEASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Legendary crooner BARRY MANILOW has been battling a serious heart disease for more than 15 years.
The singer has opened up about his health condition for the very first time, revealing he’s been secretly suffering from atrial fibrillation, more commonly known as AFib, which causes the heart to beat out of rhythm, sometimes causing permanent damage, stroke or heart failure.
The 68-year-old Grammy winner says, "When I first experienced AFib more than 15 years ago, it was really scary - it felt like a fish flopping around in my chest. I thought I knew about all the risks, but it turns out I didn’t, so I was really lucky I had such great doctors helping me manage it from the start." Now the Copacabana hitmaker has signed up to launch an educational campaign called Get Back In Rhythm, which urges Americans to learn about the symptoms and health risks of the disease.
He adds, "At first, I kept my AFib private because I didn’t want to acknowledge there was something wrong with my heart. But now I realise a lot of my fans and so many others could be affected, so I want to do all I can to help them take it seriously, understand all the risks of AFib and seek the best care.
"The bottom line is AFib needs more awareness. Patients need more education. No one should settle for a life out of rhythm."
