JERMAINE JACKSON has stunned fans of his late brother Michael by sensationally revealing the King of Pop was supposed to be in The World Trade Center on 11 September, 2001 when hijacked planes were flown into the Twin Towers.
Promoting his new book, You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes, on U.S. TV news show Access Hollywood on Wednesday (14Sep11), Jermaine explained a tired Michael slept through a number of early appointments - and one could have been fatal.
He said, "My mother had stayed up with him all the way until four in the morning and he just slept; he missed his appointments, which was great." Jackson was in New York for two star-studded Madison Square concerts, which took place the weekend before the terrorist attacks.

KIRSTIE ALLEY’s representative is playing down reports suggesting the star demanded a helicopter landing at a 9/11 memorial at the weekend (11Sep11), insisting the actress just wanted to ensure she made it on time.
The former Cheers star was invited to pay tribute to those who perished during the devastating terrorist attacks on 11 September, 2001, at the Long Island Remembers 10th anniversary tribute in New York on Sunday (11Sep11), but event organisers claim the event was soured when Alley threatened to cancel her appearance if they didn’t charter a helicopter for her.
A rep told the New York Post, "We couldn’t believe it. It’s a memorial service, not a party." The actress ultimately arrived at the event by car with her pal Nicole Scherzinger, and sources insist she stayed for several hours and was "very friendly".
And now Alley’s rep has dismissed the diva behaviour rumours, insisting the actress was simply being time conscious.
The publicist says, "Kirstie was coming from Pennsylvania that morning, and was simply exploring all options of transportation, from Amtrak (train) to helicopter, in order to ensure she made it on time to respect those being remembered. At no point was a demand made. Also she ended up taking an SUV, not a limo.
"Further, at no point did she consider cancelling the appearance and was happy to honour the firefighters, police officers and emergency services personnel in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11."

WOODY HARRELSON has taken aim at the U.S. Army in a bid to stop officials using live monkeys in chemical attack training exercises.
The actor, who landed an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of an Army captain in The Messenger, has written a letter to new Army Chief of Staff, General Raymond Odierno on behalf of animal rights organisation PETA, urging him to outlaw the "outdated" practice.
PETA officials claim the military "repeatedly injects monkeys with drug overdoses to crudely recreate the effects of a nerve agent attack".
Harrelson writes, "I urge you to stop this crude exercise… I’m sure you agree that our military personnel deserve state-of-the-art training and that our country deserves to be respected for its civilized treatment of animals." The actor is particularly disturbed about reports from tests carried out at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, writing, "The monkeys forced through this procedure will suffer the wretched symptoms of chemical poisoning, including seizures, breathing difficulties, loss of bowel control, and convulsions. In a laboratory worksheet that PETA obtained from Aberdeen, one student compared a monkey’s violent reaction during the exercise to ‘a chiwawa (sic) s**tting razor blades’." Harrelson signs off by urging the general to adopt humane, medical simulation tests that are currently being carried out at Harvard Medical School and "other institutions".

SAMUEL L. JACKSON is set to reteam with QUENTIN TARANTINO for a fifth time - the actor has been confirmed as the lastest star to join the director’s DJANGO UNCHAINED movie.
The pair first worked together in Pulp Fiction, followed by Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Inglourious Basterds two years ago (09).
Now Tarantino has hired his pal again for his highly-anticipated new project, which will star Jamie Foxx as a freed slave out for revenge against evil plantation owner Leonardo DiCaprio.
Jackson will play Stephen, a house slave and DiCaprio’s right-hand man.
Shooting starts next year (12).

SIR ELTON JOHN is taking legal action against a banker who failed to honour a $1.1 million (£700,000) bid made at a charity auction.
At the singer’s annual White Tie and Tiara Ball last year (10), Spencer Lodge won the chance to spend a day with the Rocket Man hitmaker.
But the banker has reportedly failed to honour a contract he signed pledging the money to the Elton John Aids Foundation.
After several attempts to contact Lodge, the singer is said to have instructed his lawyers to file suit against Lodge.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "Elton is not personally hounding the man and demanding the cash back but he is fully supportive of the legal proceedings to benefit the charity.
"The lot was a one-off opportunity to make his charity an astonishing amount of money. Organisers had actually secured another bid of £650,000 which, of course, they would have been delighted with.
"The feeling is Mr Lodge was at the ball, enjoying the plush surroundings a little too enthusiastically and didn’t really know quite how much he was bidding.
"In the cold light of day, it appears he got cold feet and couldn’t go through with the bid. Initially there was a misunderstanding as Mr Lodge was changing lawyers but still nothing has been resolved so that’s why it has gone this far."

Actor ARMIE HAMMER was left cringing on the set of J. EDGAR when his wife stormed up to LEONARDO DiCAPRIO and grilled him about his love life.
DiCaprio stars as controversial Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) boss J. Edgar Hoover in the upcoming drama, while Hammer plays lawyer-turned-FBI agent Clyde Tolson, his rumoured lover.
But it was the Titanic star who came under interrogation on-set after Hammer’s wife, former model Elizabeth Chambers, demanded to know if DiCaprio remembered a friend of hers he once bedded in his Lothario heyday.
Chambers recalls, "I actually met Leo when I was modeling in Tokyo when I was in high school. He hooked up with my roommate.
"When I saw him on set after all those years, I said, ‘Tell me you’re not an a**hole. Do not make me hate you for the rest of the shoot. She was Spanish - you took a bath your first night together. What’s her name?’ And he goes, ‘Marta.’"

British singer CHERYL COLE has flown to Afghanistan to visit U.K. troops serving in the war-torn country.
The Girls Aloud star made her way to the country’s Helmand Province on Tuesday night (13Sep11) to surprise servicemen and women.
Cole underwent special training to prepare for the hostile environment she will tour during her visit, which marks 10 years of British operations in the country.
Her morale-boosting trip is being filmed as part of the annual Pride of Britain Awards, which will air on U.K. TV next month (Oct11).

Millionaire model SOPHIE DAHL is facing a backlash from her novelist grandfather ROALD DAHL’s fans after appealing for $800,000 (£500,000) to save his writing shed.
The British beauty, married to jazz star Jamie Cullum, took to the airwaves in the U.K. to publicise a campaign to transfer Dahl’s dilapidated shed, where the beloved author wrote several of his stories, from his former home in Buckinghamshire, England to a museum.
She told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, "It’s in a bit of a state, poor little hut. It needs help. We are trying to raise half a million pounds, which sounds like a great deal of money to move the interior of a little hut but it’s quite a process." However, her appeal caused outrage among listeners, who took to social networking sites to suggest the Dahl family should pay for the move themselves from the millions his books has earned in royalties.
One listener wrote on Twitter.com, "Roald Dahl Day tainted by Sophie Dahl begging for public money to fix Roald’s writing shed whilst his books are still selling worldwide." Another added, "I love a bit of Roald Dahl. But being asked by his millionaire granddaughter to stump up for his shed being moved takes the Wonka biscuit." But Amanda Conquy, chairman of the Roald Dahl Museum, has defended the campaign, saying, "If anybody from the public wants to give money that would be great but we are not expecting them to. Our requests are going to trusts and foundations. We have raised half of the money already and the point of today’s announcement was to tell the world that soon the shed will be open to the public."

HEATH LEDGER’s 2008 death turned his actress ex MICHELLE WILLIAMS’ life upside down - but she insists the tragedy has helped her to make better choices about the film projects she chooses.
The Hollywood star was left heartbroken when Ledger suffered an accidental prescription drug overdose, and she has spent the past three years struggling to rebuild her life with the former couple’s young daughter Matilda, now six.
But Williams admits the tragedy has taught her to appreciate the more important things in life.

"(Ledger’s death) changed how I see the world and how I interact on a daily basis. It’s changed the parent I am… It’s changed the kind of work that I really want to do. PAMELA ANDERSON was forced to call cops when a crazed fan broke into her house and hid in a guest room for days.
The Baywatch beauty became convinced she was going insane when she noticed bread missing from her kitchen and items of clothing vanished from her closet.
But after several days she discovered a female intruder hiding in her home - and the woman shocked the actress by slashing her wrists when police arrived to arrest her.
Anderson tells Britain’s OK! magazine, "One (fan) snuck into my house, sliced their wrists and… ate all my bread. It’s terrible but I’m serious! When the police took her, she was even wearing one of my Baywatch bathing suits. It was very scary, actually.
"I was in my house with my children, alone, and this woman had gotten in and was there for a few days!… I kept noticing my bread going missing and that my jean jacket disappeared. But I was like: ‘I’m going crazy because I have two babies, I’m forgetting everything.’ "But this woman had been staying in the guest room for days. When the police came, she slit her wrists!… She didn’t die. She just got deported."

JOHN LENNON’s widow YOKO ONO has offered her support to a pop wannabe competing on Australia’s THE X FACTOR reality show after she was won over by the contestant’s rendition of peace ballad IMAGINE.
Emmanuel Kelly performed the peace anthem at his audition for the TV talent programme, moving celebrity judges including Boyzone singer Ronan Keating and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown to tears with his vocals.
Kelly’s choice of song was even more poignant after he revealed he and his brother Ahmed had been adopted from Iraq, where they were born with missing limbs as a result of chemical warfare.
His audition aired Down Under late last month (Aug11), but it was only recently brought to Ono’s attention - and she’s been singing his praises ever since.
Posting a link to the video on ImaginePeace.com last week (ends09Sep11), she writes, "Thank you, Emmanuel. You sang beautifully! Thank you. John would have been proud of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you." Lennon released the classic hit in 1971 but it became an anthem after the Beatle was shot dead outside his apartment in New York in December, 1980. It was Lennon’s only solo Australian number one single.
