PITT FOUGHT TO KEEP FAVOURITE SCENE IN LEGENDS OF THE FALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

BRAD PITT fought to keep his favourite scene from LEGENDS OF THE FALL in the film after test audiences told researchers they hated it.
The movie star was stunned when he learned director Ed Zwick had been told to cut the scene and demanded to see the marketing reports from the screening.
He tells Entertainment Weekly, "They said it was the most hated scene. I said, ‘That can’t be. I understand that it’s uncomfortable, but it’s a monumental scene. Can I see these reports?’ "They showed them to me. It was also the second-most-liked scene, and I go, ‘Guys, this is exactly why we’re here. We want to evoke emotion, not favourable opinion, not agreement.’" But Pitt’s comments fell on deaf ears - the mystery scene was cut.

T.I. RELEASED TO HALFWAY HOUSE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:09 pm

Troubled rapper T.I. has been transferred to a halfway house in Georgia, two weeks after his prison term initially came to an end.
The hip-hop star, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., was given an early release from an Arkansas incarceration facility on 31 August (11) after serving 10 months of an 11-month sentence for a probation violation, but he was placed back behind bars after lawmakers discovered he had illegally conducted business onboard a luxury bus on his way to the halfway house in his home state, where he was due to spend the final days of his punishment.
The officials accused T.I. of discussing business matters with his manager and two producers from TV network VH1 - allegations he has denied.
His lawyer Steve Sadow attempted to have the decision to re-incarcerate his client overturned, but he was refused the opportunity to appeal the ruling.
The Live Your Life hitmaker was released from custody on Thursday (15Sep11) and his attorney is taking credit for the result.
He tells TMZ.com, "We have good reason to believe that this favourable result was reached because of the proactive and assertive approach taken to protect T.I.’s rights by providing B.O.P. (Bureau of Prisons) officials and the media with reliable and accurate information and that T.I. did not intend to violate his transfer furlough or any other B.O.P. rules en route from the prison facility in Arkansas to the halfway house in Atlanta." T.I. will be placed on probation for one year after his release from the halfway house on 29 September (11).

He tells Details magazine, "This was after Tim Burton’s (Batman films), before the bad period. I just didn’t want to go to the (New York) Knicks (basketball) game and have everybody go, ‘Wow, you were a great Batman!’ That wasn’t my f**king goal in life. Now I wish I’d done it, because I could have used it to do other things."

CURTIS’ DAUGHTER UPSET OVER ESTATE AUCTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:06 pm

A feud has erupted between TONY CURTIS’ widow and his daughter Allegra over an upcoming auction of his estate.
Allegra, the late star’s daughter from his second marriage to Christine Kaufmann, is upset that the actor’s sixth wife Jill failed to inform his kin about her plans to sell off paintings, memorabilia and keepsakes - and then reportedly refused to let his children grab sentimental items.
Allegra tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Jill Curtis is the only beneficiary of this auction. She did not consult us. This is not what my dad would have wanted.
"Jill’s even selling off credit cards and driver licenses. She’s also selling my dad’s letters to Cary Grant, Jerry Lewis, Picasso - these belong in a museum.
"It’s the dissemination of the estate of Tony Curtis. He deserves better." But Julien’s Auctions boss Darren Julien, who will oversee the Curtis estate sale, begs to differ.
He says, "Tony came to many of our auctions with Jill and said he wanted Julien’s to handle his auction after he died. I know this is exactly what he wanted." Curtis died last September (10).

SHEEN OPENS UP ABOUT PUBLIC MELTDOWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN insists he’s sober and calmer after his very public spring (11) meltdown, which prompted many fans and friends to question his mental state.
Sheen’s sitcom Two and a Half Men was stalled in February (11) following a series of bizarre antics, which began with the star trashing a hotel room in New York over a missing watch and ended with the actor’s hospitalisation following an all-night party.
He was then fired from the show in March (11) after publicly feuding with producers and series creator Chuck Lorre.
That led to several weeks of headline-grabbing, wild behaviour as Sheen took to the Internet to blast TV executives and co-stars, lost custody of his twin sons and staged a bizarre touring one-man show.
Now reflecting on his year in the headlines, Sheen insists he’s in a better place.
Sitting down for a new interview on U.S. breakfast show Today, he says, "I don’t really know what happened. It was one of those things where the planets were aligned, perfectly or imperfectly. I said some stuff and then it caught such traction globally and instantly that I couldn’t really put out the fire… From one moment to the next, I didn’t know what was going to happen. It was pretty exciting.
"Looking back on it, I don’t think I would trade it, but there are portions of it I would have amended a little bit." Sheen reveals he learned a valuable lesson amid the media firestorm - to appreciate his family, including ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, who he recently holidayed with in Mexico.
He continues, "I’m seeing my kids a lot more, mending fences with Denise and Brooke, just trying to move forward and prioritise what matters. I think that’s where the life is, you know, it’s in those quiet moments. It’s not the giant TV deal or the big party or the award or whatever, it’s the memory of your child’s smile at the end of the day that sort of brings that one lonesome tear." And the actor assures fans not to worry about his mental state after the months of craziness - he insists he’s "absolutely" sober and feels "a lot calmer" and "a lot mellower".
The full interview is set to air in the U.S. on Friday (16Sep11) as Sheen prepares for a TV comeback in a new sitcom inspired by Adam Sandler’s Anger Management movie.

O’NEAL TAKES AIM AT OPRAH OVER TV SERIES SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

RYAN O’NEAL has blasted TV titan OPRAH WINFREY for not getting more involved in the reality show aimed at bringing himself and estranged daughter Tatum closer together.
The actor has revealed Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals, which aired on Oprah’s OWN network, didn’t end well for father and daughter and they haven’t spoken for two months - since filming wrapped - but he insists it could have been a lot different if Winfrey had been a part of the series.
He tells Access Hollywood Live, "We never saw her, never spoke to her, not a note, not a line, not a word… I don’t think she was even in Los Angeles (where the show was filmed). I guess she thought we’d take care of it ourselves.
"One of the reasons we did it (the show) is that Oprah has a kind of a magical touch and that, with the combination of Oprah and hope, she (Tatum) and I could manage to get past what was bothering us. But we needed her and she didn’t show." And now the actor fears there won’t be a season two for the show: "I don’t think there is a season two. Did I open up? I tried. Does Tatum like me any better? No. So what’s the point? "Perhaps, if we did a second season, we could close some of those doors, but no one ever seemed to watch it (the show) anyway. The Oprah channel could use some publicity. They should spend a little money on it by the way, Oprah. That’s between you and me." But the series wasn’t a complete disaster - O’Neal now has a new lodger: "Her (Tatum’s) son lives with me now in Malibu. I lost one, I got someone else. It’s a tricky family. There’s so much pride and there is so much injury, it’s very difficult." Ryan and Tatum fell out when she was a teenager and he fell in love with Farrah Fawcett. Father and daughter have waged a bitter public feud ever since over allegations he abandoned his kids. Earlier this year (11), Ryan told newsman Piers Morgan he feared his dramas with Tatum had hastened Fawcett’s death. She lost her battle with cancer in 2009.

COHEN WINS LATEST BRUNO LEGAL BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

A California judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed against funnyman SACHA BARON COHEN over an alleged altercation, which occurred on the set of his hit film BRUNO.
In 2009, Richelle Olson launched a legal battle against Cohen, claiming she fell and hit her head while trying to kick the actor and his movie crew out of a charity bingo game in Lancaster, California.
Olson initially allowed the group to roll cameras during the event she organises, but she changed her mind when the actor, who played a gay fashionista in the film, began making cheeky references to his homosexual relationships each time a number was called.
And on Monday (12Sep11) the District Court of Appeals thew out the case because the funnyman was ruled to be exercising his right to free speech when the mishap occurred, according to the Associated Press.
The unscripted scene was not included in the final cut of the film.
Meanwhile, Cohen is currently locked in another ongoing legal battle - Palestinian grocer Ayman Abu Aita filed a $110 million (GBP73 million) defamation lawsuit against the actor after he was described him as a "terrorist group leader" in the film.

GRANT & ROWLING NAMED ‘CORE PARTICIPANTS’ IN TABLOID PHONE HACKING INQUIRY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

HUGH GRANT and HARRY POTTER creator J.K. ROWLING have been given permission to participate in an investigation into Britain’s recent tabloid newspaper industry phone hacking scandal.
Media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s Sunday publication the News of the World was shut down this summer (11) after it was discovered hacks had illegally gleaned information about headline-grabbing stories from private phone conversations and voicemails from celebrities and politicians.
Reporters had also hacked into the voicemail of schoolgirl Milly Dowler after she vanished in 2002. She was later found dead.
Actor Grant spearheaded calls for a high-level investigation into the phone hacking scandal after learning he was among the celebrity victims and now not only has he got his wish, he has been named a "core participant" by Judge Brian Leveson, who is overseeing the inquiry.
Other key members of the investigation include News of the World publisher News International and the paper’s former editor Rebekah Brooks and the Metropolitan Police, which has been accused of bungling the original investigation into phone hacking.
Meanwhile, a parliamentary committee investigating phone hacking will recall News International chief executive James Murdoch. The lawmakers are seeking to determine whether James Murdoch misled them about the scale of the illegal practice at the News of the World in his previous testimony.
