RUDD REVEALS HITCHHIKING DRAMA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:11 pm

PAUL RUDD was forced to hitch a lift with a stranger after his car broke down on the way to New York’s John F. Kennedy airport.
The Clueless star was travelling on the Van Wyck Expressway in the Big Apple when his hired ride spluttered to a halt in traffic.
Rudd was required to catch a specific flight because of his work schedule - and he was left with no choice but to hitchhike.
He tells U.S. chat show host David Letterman, "A couple of months ago I was going out to work and I had a town car to drive me to JFK and my car broke down. I was on the Van Wyck, and it was crammed and I had to catch the flight and there was no way I could get a cab and they couldn’t get another town car, so I started (to) hitchhike because I didn’t want to miss the flight.
"A very nice girl thankfully picked me up and took me to the airport. I’m thumbing it. She pulled over. I was so appreciative… her name is Allie Brown… I said, ‘I would love to thank you’, I would love it if I could offer her something really cool and interesting like a walk-on part to a movie I was working on, but I realised I don’t have that kind of juice, I couldn’t make it happen, but then instead how about a walk on to this interview. I hope that’s alright…" Rudd then introduced Brown to the TV studio set and joked, "I probably should have gotten her a gift certificate or something!"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:09 pm

British actor TIMOTHY SPALL was rescued by a lifeboat crew earlier this week (beg22Aug11) after he got lost at sea while sailing in the dark.
The Harry Potter star, who is a keen sailor, is currently filming scenes for BBC TV series Timothy Spall: Back At Sea, which follows the actor and his wife travelling around the coast of Britain on their barge boat.
But on Wednesday (24Aug11) Spall had to radio for help after accidentally sailing into busy shipping lanes.
A lifeboat was called out to save the star in the Medway estuary in Kent, south-east England and rescuers guided him back in to safety.
Spall tells Britain’s The Sun, "I feel foolish, but it’s better to feel foolish and alive than clever and dead. I was terrified and very grateful to the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). These guys risk their lives for idiots like us." A spokesperson for the RNLI adds, "We’re pleased he called us before he got into trouble." Scenes of the rescue will air in the U.K. next year (12).

NEWTON OPENS UP ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:09 pm

Australian actor MATTHEW NEWTON has opened up about his battle with mental illness, insisting a hospitalisation helped him reflect on his issues and "saved" his life.
The Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities star checked into a private facility in Sydney last year (10) to seek help for an undisclosed personal issue, following his alleged attack on former fiancee, Transformers actress Rachael Taylor.
Newton was arrested earlier this year (11) for allegedly breaching an apprehended violence order (AVO) by trying to contact his ex, and his lawyer revealed to a court that the star was suffering from a psychiatric illness.
The 34 year old has now revealed the extent of his issues in a candid interview on Australian radio.
Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O show, he explains, "It’s been an interesting year for me and a huge one for reflection. There were certain things I had to take stock of. I was all over the place… I was a bit of a lost soul in a lot of ways and I didn’t want to face that.
"I worked through it. Finding myself in hospital and being surrounded by a great group of people, the people at Northside West (facility) really saved my life… There is a lot of fear and a huge amount of stigma with mental illness and a lot of judgemental people brush it off and say, ‘Get on with your life’.
"I feel like I am in the best place that I have ever been in my life… the most important thing I realised in hospital was that my opinion of myself had to be of a certain standard. If I hurt other people in my ignorance and confusion getting to this point, that causes me great regret." During the chat, Newton also dismissed reports of a rift with his famous parents, Bert and Patti Newton, adding: "The only distance between me and my parents is 1,000 kilometres - I live in Sydney and they live in Melbourne. The great thing about family is they are there through all the ups and downs and they are that core group of people in your life that support you through thick and thin."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:59 am

Rocker DANI FILTH was once stalked by a woman who believed she was the reincarnation of ‘Blood Countess’ ELIZABETH BATHORY.
The Cradle of Filth frontman admits he received regular correspondence from the delusional fan, written as if she was the infamous 16th century Hungarian noblewoman who allegedly bathed in the blood of virgins, while he was on tour in America.
He says, "Strangely enough, I was her husband from the Middle Ages… I met her a couple of times, and she was really into it." Bathory was accused of killing young girls sent to her for etiquette lessons. She died a recluse locked in her castle in 1614.
Filth admits the fan who thought she was the notorious serial killer is one of many odd groupies he meets on the road.
He tells Hustler magazine, "I had a fan who gave me his grandmother’s thigh bone, which was cool - and odd."

WOMACK THANKS GORILLAZ FOR INSPIRING COMEBACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:50 am

Soul legend BOBBY WOMACK has credited DAMON ALBARN’s group GORILLAZ for kickstarting his career after excessive drug use robbed him of his creative edge.
The singer/songwriter, dubbed ‘the last great soul man’, all but quit the music business following the death of his infant son in 1978 and he admits much of the music he wrote and recorded after the tragedy wasn’t up to his previous standards.
And he’d quit completely when Albarn called and asked him to be part of Gorillaz for the group’s Plastic Beach album.
Womack tells WENN, "I went through burn-out… I was always doing music or working somewhere and then one day I lost the feeling and I didn’t believe in myself, I didn’t believe in the songs I wrote. I walked away.
"Then Gorillaz called me and asked me if I’d join them on their next single. I’d never heard of Gorillaz. I said, ‘I’ve heard of The Monkees!’ "But they loved me when I didn’t even know me and the single was a big hit and then they said, ‘Will you do a tour?’" Womack was reluctant because he feared he’d be around drugs again and he didn’t want to risk his sobriety, but the money he was offered was too good to turn down.
He adds, "I’d dropped the habit and I hadn’t sung in a while and I hadn’t been around entertainers… But they were paying me tax free way over what I would have earned doing nothing but dates in five years, so that impressed me.
"There was no drugs around on tour, there was always people happy and loving each other… I was like, ‘What kind of place is this? Heaven?’" And the experience inspired Womack to start writing again: "One day I was riding on the bus and I told my assistant to tell the driver to pull over and get my guitar and bring a a pad and I wrote about 20 songs. My thoughts were running crazy. I was like, ‘Thank God, that’s the feeling I wanted back.’" The soul man is now planning a major comeback with a new blues album, called Living in the House of Blues, which features collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and Rod Stewart.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:50 am

Actress KAT DENNINGS’ career has come full circle - her new TV sitcom, 2 BROKE GIRLS, was created by SEX & THE CITY’s MICHAEL PATRICK KING.
Dennings had a small role on the Sex & The City TV series when she was just 14 and she admits the experience made her all the more serious about acting.
She explains, "I played Jenny Brier in the episode called Hot Child in the City. It changed my life, really it did.
"I lived in the woods, so I hadn’t thought about doing TV. We didn’t have any money when I was growing up, and I used to get all my films from the library. My mom would get me classic movies and stuff.
"I actually wasn’t allowed to watch TV as a kid growing up except for, like, PBS, Sesame Street. I was a homeschooled kid living in the forest, and I didn’t even have cable. I’m serious. We had to get cable to watch my episode of Sex & The City."
