BRANSON LOST HIS MEMOIRS IN ISLAND BLAZE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:18 pm

Airline tycoon RICHARD BRANSON lost his autobiography and 15 years worth of handwritten notes when a blaze ripped through his Necker Island retreat earlier this month (Aug11).
Actress Kate Winslet and 20 other guests were holidaying at the billionaire businessman’s Caribbean home in the British Virgin Islands when lightening hit the wooden property and set it ablaze.
Winslet helped escort Branson’s 90-year-old mother Eve to safety as the building burned around them - and now the Virgin Atlantic boss has opened up about the extent of his losses in the blaze.
He tells Britain’s The Sunday Times, "My office was in the house and I lost everything in it. I’d got a long way into writing my autobiography (which included losing my virginity) and it’s lost. Fifteen years of handwritten notebooks went and photographs and so on.
"Running a business, we have a meticulous computer backup system so I’d assumed all that was completely safe. But it turns out the backup was also in the house.
"Everything filed on the computers there in the past few years is lost, both business-related and personal… But these are things. And as long as you have your family and friends around you they’re not that important." A representative for Branson adds, "The biggest disappointment is that Richard was well through his new book. It was sitting on top of about 10 years of notebooks, about 40 of them in total. He’s now just hoping his memory is still intact as he’s going to need it - and he plans to buy a fire-proof vault."

PETERS ORDERED TO PAY FORMER ASSISTANT $3 MILLION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:15 pm

Hollywood film producer JON PETERS has been ordered to pay his former assistant more than $3 million (£1.9 million) for sexual harassment.
Shelly Morita filed a lawsuit against Peters in 2006, claiming she quit her job after he fondled her at his Malibu home and climbed into bed with her in an Australian hotel room while they were working on Superman Returns in 2005.
Morita claimed she was unable to find work in Hollywood after leaving Peters’ employment because of his power in the industry.
On Friday (26Aug11), Morita was awarded $822,000 (£513,750) in compensatory damages and $2.5 million (£1.6 million) in punitive damages after a jury ruled she was subjected to sexual harassment and a hostile work environment.
Peters’ attorneys are planning to appeal the verdict, reports City News Service.

COPPOLA AND MARS MARRY IN ITALY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 am

Filmmaker SOFIA COPPOLA and her longterm partner, musician THOMAS MARS, have married in Italy.
The Lost in Translation director exchanged vows with the Phoenix frontman on Saturday (27Aug11) on her dad Francis Ford Coppola’s lavish estate in Bernalda - the small village where her grandparents were born.

The village’s mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who performed the civil ceremony, tells the Associated Press,"Everything went well. It was simple, calm, in the garden. If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn’t have done it here. They chose to do it here because it’s here - it’s here that is beautiful." The pair has two children, four-year-old Roma and Cosima, 15 months.
Coppola was previously married to director Spike Jonze, who she divorced in 2003 after four years.

NO MORE MOMENT FOR CLARKSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:17 am

KELLY CLARKSON has retired the song she sang after winning the first season of AMERICAN IDOL because it wasn’t written specifically for her.
A Moment Like This was the star’s first single and she felt compelled to sing it for fans who had voted her to victory on the U.S. TV talent show - but she’s sick of the tune and insists she won’t be performing it live anytime soon.
She tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "It was a moment for whoever won (American Idol), but that song wasn’t written for me. I loved singing it for the finale. That’s what it was for. But you’re not going to catch me singing that song anytime soon.
"Someone would have to be dying in front of me, saying, ‘My last wish is for you to sing that song,’ for me to sing it."

BERRY RETURNS TO COURT IN LATEST CUSTODY BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:17 am

HALLE BERRY has won the latest round in her custody battle with ex-boyfriend GABRIEL AUBRY.
The Monster’s Ball star returned to court on Friday (26Aug11) for a hearing tabled after her lawyer, Neal Hersh, filed legal papers asking a judge to hold Aubry in contempt for allegedly violating their custody deal.
TMZ.com reports the latest spat came about during a dispute over how much time Berry and Aubry each get to spend with their daughter Nahla when the actress is shooting a movie abroad.
Berry is reportedly heading to Europe to shoot a new film and she wants to spend more time with Nahla.
A judge ruled in her favour and now Gabriel won’t get as much time with his daughter Nahla as he wanted.
The former couple’s custody battle began in December (10) when the model filed a paternity petition asking to be officially recognised as the father of three-year-old Nahla following his split from the actress. At the time, Berry and Aubry had not filed for child custody, visitation or support.
She later challenged his efforts to spend more time with Nahla.

ELLIOTT TAKES AIM AT FAN OVER SETLIST CRITICISM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:11 am

DEF LEPPARD frontman JOE ELLIOTT has blasted a fan who complained about the lack of fireworks in the group’s first four shows following the death of the singer’s father.
The Pour Some Sugar On Me hitmakers were forced to scrap a handful of concerts in America last month (Jul11) after Elliott’s father died in England.
The band returned to the road shortly after the funeral so as not to let fans down, but singer Elliott was hurt and angered by one so-called devotee’s emailed criticism.
He tells Spinner.com, "The guy accused me of being a fraud because on the first four gigs we did after the break we did exactly the same set. I wasn’t going to say to the guy, ‘Well, you know, my father just passed away…’ "He’s writing this as if every single person comes to every gig. But the only people who know what we did are the ones who go online and look at the setlist. So he’s a f**king idiot. I don’t mind saying that and please print it.
"When someone like him says our song Love Bites is just a ‘beer break,’ I’m like, ‘Wow, you’re a moron. Don’t bother coming to any of our shows. We don’t want people like you.’ "We have to play for the majority. If we don’t play Photograph and Pour Some Sugar On Me, we won’t get out of the building alive. That pays our wages - not these idiots who sit in their mother’s basement eating Doritos and playing Dungeons And Dragons all day. I’m not interested in those kinds of people."
