Emmy-nominated reality TV star SHANE SPARKS has been sentenced to 270 days in jail after pleading no contest to one felony count of unlawful intercourse with a minor.
The TV personality, best known as a choreographer and judge on Randy Jackson’s hit MTV show America’s Best Dance Crew, was taken into police custody on a felony warrant in 2009 following a criminal complaint filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
Sparks was accused of committing lewd acts upon a child under the age of 16 in multiple incidents between 1994 and 1997.
Last year (10), he pleaded not guilty to six counts of lewd acts on a minor and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16.
But on Tuesday (16Aug11), the So You Think You Can Dance star was handed the jail term, as well as five years’ formal probation and an order to complete 52 sex offender counselling sessions, reports E! Online.
Sparks, who has been on bail since his 2009 arrest, was not taken immediately into custody but has been told to complete the sentence within the next 365 days.

Veteran actor BURT REYNOLDS reportedly faces losing his Florida mansion after failing to pay off his mortgage debts.
The Smokey and the Bandit star owes almost $1.2 million (£730,000) in payments, dating back to last year (10), according to a new lawsuit.
Reynolds is reportedly trying to sell the sprawling property for $8.6 million (£5.4 million), despite it being valued at just $2.4 million (£1.5 million) Now officials at Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation are seeking a court order for the home to be sold, reports Britain’s Daily Mirror.
The property includes a private cinema and hair salon.

BRITNEY SPEARS’ ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE is a dad again - his girlfriend has given birth to his fifth child.
The dancer/rapper and Victoria Prince welcomed their first baby, little Jordan Kay, into the world on Monday evening (15Aug11).
Their daughter is the latest addition to Federline’s brood, which includes his two sons with Spears and the daughter and son, aged nine and seven, he shares with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson.

DAVID HASSELHOFF is desperate to team up with British rapper TINIE TEMPAH to make a dance track sampling the theme tunes to his iconic shows KNIGHT RIDER and BAYWATCH.
The eccentric TV star met up with Tempah at this year’s (11) Californian music festival Coachella, and is now keen to resurrect his pop career by storming the charts with the rapper.
He says, "I’d love to do a record with Tinie. It would be ideal to do some fun dance record.
"I’d like to do a little sampling of the Baywatch and Knight Rider themes and get Tinie to do something on it. I’d sing on it and let him rap on it and I think it could be fun." Hasselhoff embarked on a short-lived music career in the late ’80s and performed at the Berlin Wall in 1989. He attempted a pop comeback in 2004 with the song Jump In My Car.

THE VOICE star ADAM LEVINE has criticised bosses behind rival TV talent show AMERICAN IDOL over their treatment of the series’ gay competitors, accusing them of hiding "basic components" of contestants’ lives.
Former Idol runner-up Adam Lambert claimed executives behind the hit series advised him to keep his sexuality secret until after the competition ended, and Levine - who has a gay brother - is furious about the allegations.
He tells Hollyscoop.com, "What’s always p**sed me off about Idol is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken. C’mon. You can’t be publicly gay? At this point? On a singing competition? Give me a break. You can’t hide basic components of these people’s lives. The fact that The Voice didn’t have any qualms about being completely (open) about it is a great thing." The Maroon 5 rocker has also offered his own advice to families struggling to come to terms with a relative’s sexuality, insisting it’s a "losing battle" to try to change them.
He adds, "I can single-handedly dispel any ideas that sexuality is acquired. Trust me, you’re born with it. My brother is gay, and we knew when he was two. We all knew.
"A lot of people don’t want their kid to be gay and will fight it at all costs. But I’ve got news for you - it’s a losing f**king battle. The more you fight it, the more f**ked up your kid’s gonna be. You’ve just got to embrace it from the beginning. That’s the only way to deal with it as a family."

BRITNEY SPEARS will be the guest of honour at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards with a special tribute honouring her lengthy career.
The Toxic hitmaker, who released her debut single …Baby One More Time in 1998, has been thrilling American audiences with her Femme Fatale tour this summer (11) and is taking her trek to Europe next month (Sep11).
MTV bosses are now planning "something unique" to honour Spears at the annual ceremony in Los Angeles on 28 August (11).
VMA executive producer Amy Doyle tells Billboard, "Britney will be at the show and we’ll be paying tribute to her. She was having an incredible year and she is so beloved by the MTV audience that we started to think what could we do that would be a different experience (from years past).
"Obviously everything from her choreography to her fashion to her videos will be (covered). We said ‘let’s challenge ourselves to do something unique’." MTV chiefs are also "talking about acknowledging" late singer Amy Winehouse, who was found dead at her London home last month (Jul11).
Doyle adds, "We had a great history with Amy. She was very near and dear to us." Spears’ hit track Till the World Ends is nominated for two awards at the ceremony - Best Pop Video and Best Choreography in a Video.

ONE REPUBLIC star RYAN TEDDER has heaped praise on DEMI LOVATO, insisting the singer is going to bounce back from her recent troubles and "shock everybody" with her comeback album.
The singer/actress stunned fans last year (11) when she entered rehab to tackle her self-harming and eating disorder issues.
She was diagnosed by doctors as suffering from bipolar disorder, and has worked hard on her recovery so she can get back to work.
Lovato has teamed up with singer/songwriter Tedder for her first album since her troubles hit the headlines, and the rocker admits he was impressed by the 18 year old’s talent - and insists fans will be taken aback by her new sound.
He tells E! Online, "Demi blew me out of the water vocally! I had no idea how good her voice is. She’s one of the best singers I’ve ever worked with. Literally, that good… I mean, she’s a Kelly Clarkson-level vocalist. And Kelly has a set of pipes.
"I think everybody wanted to hear her talk about that (her troubles), and this is basically flipping it 180, saying, ‘Oh, by the way, I’m still also just young and want to have fun.’ There’s even like a little rap feature on it.
"She doesn’t rap on it. I’m going to keep that (person) a secret. But she’s got a couple features on this album, one in particular that is going to shock everybody. I was like, ‘How did you get this person? They’re impossible to get and you got them!’"

Former VAN HALEN frontman SAMMY HAGAR still misses his former bandmates despite their acrimonious break-up.
Hagar parted company with the Jump hitmakers in 1996 after 11 years as the group’s frontman, claiming he had been fired after a bust-up with founder/guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
While the rocker hasn’t forgiven Eddie and his drummer brother Alex, he still believes they made great music together.
He tells The Pulse of Radio, "You know, I miss Van Halen. I don’t like them f**kers… Bad guys. But I miss ‘em, you know. I miss that musicianship and that creative spark and that friction that made it all work, you know."

CHRIS COLFER is snubbing a chance to take a glamorous date to this year’s (11) Emmys - the nominated GLEE star will walk the red carpet with his grandmother.
Colfer is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Kurt Hummel in the hit series at the prizegiving next month (Sep11), and his escort for the evening will be his grandmother.
He confirms, "She’s my date." And despite the show’s success, Colfer admits he still gets nervous stepping onto the red carpet, adding: "You never get used to it, I was anxious the very first time I stepped out onto a red carpet and people were screaming at you, and I’m just as anxious now."

KIM KARDASHIAN feared she would be walking down the aisle on her own on her big wedding day following the death of her father, until she realised her stepdad would be accompanying her.
The reality star, whose father Robert Kardashian passed away in 2003, admits she was overcome with nerves at the prospect of making the solo walk when she marries basketball star Kris Humphries on Sunday (20Aug11).
But the absent-minded socialite hadn’t counted on stepfather Bruce Jenner’s help.

THE WIRE star DOMINIC WEST used to tease future British Prime Minister DAVID CAMERON about politics when they were at school together.
The liberal actor attended prestigious Eton College in England at the same time as the Conservative leader, and admits he used to make of fun of Cameron because of his political leanings.
He says, "I was friends with his wife (Samantha), so I know her a little bit. I’ve met him a few times, and he was very impressive, actually, because we’d always tease him about being conservative and he was always very tolerant and thoughtfully argued with us, so I liked him quite a lot."

Author GEORGE R. R. MARTIN has urged fans to look out for two scripts from hit TV show GAME OF THRONES which were stolen before a planned charity auction.
The writer, who penned the fantasy novels A Song of Ice and Fire, which the hit HBO series is based on, planned to put scripts from two episodes of the show under the hammer at the sci-fi WorldCon event later this week (beg15Aug11).
But after he had the screenplays sent over for him to sign, he discovered both manuscripts had been stolen.
In a post on his blog, Martin writes, "The US post office delivered the envelope in a plastic baggie with a pre-printed note apologising for the ‘damage’, but this was no error in handling. The envelope was torn open at one end, and both scripts were gone… I am convinced the scripts were stolen.
"Like (character from the books) Bloodraven, I have a thousand eyes and one. So let’s keep ‘em all peeled, boys and girls." The show has been signed up for a second season and stars Sean Bean, Mark Addy and Michelle Fairley.

THE CROW remake has been thrown into jeopardy after BRADLEY COOPER was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
The Hangover hunk was hired to play Eric Draven, who returns from the dead to track down the gang who killed his wife, in the re-imagining of the 1994 cult movie, which famously cost star Brandon Lee his life after a prop gun accident.
However, Cooper is already contracted to start work on David O. Russell’s Silver Linings, as well as the adaptation of John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost, and can no longer commit to The Crow shoot, according to TotalFilm.com.
The website reports Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum are now in the running to take over from Cooper when shooting starts in 2012.

KANYE WEST and JAY-Z’s WATCH THE THRONE album has smashed iTunes sales records after almost 290,000 downloads were snapped up last week (ends14Aug11).
The release went on sale exclusively through iTunes from 8-11 August (11).
Jay-Z’s pal Chris Martin and his band Coldplay previously held the download record - their 2008 album Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends sold 282,000 in its first week.
West and Jay-Z’s album is expected to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 charts on Wednesday (17Aug11) with total sales of close to 500,000.

Country trio LADY ANTEBELLUM and JANET JACKSON have cancelled their upcoming concerts at the Indiana State Fair following Saturday’s (13Aug11) stage collapse disaster.
Like many Americans, the Need You Now hitmakers and Jackson watched in horror as scaffolding and a lighting rig came crashing down during a sudden storm just before duo Sugarland were set to take the stage.
Five people were killed in the tragedy and more than 40 others were injured.
In a band statement, Lady Antebellum, who were scheduled to perform on Friday (19Aug11), state, "We were so sad to hear what happened and have kept the families of those injured and especially those that lost their lives in our prayers." And Jackson, who was scheduled to perform at the fair on Wednesday (17Aug11), has also scrapped her appearance.
Maroon 5 and Train are planning to go ahead with their show on Thursday (18Aug11) - but it will be staged elsewhere.
And Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine tells Billboard.com he has been struggling with the decision: "It just doesn’t seem like the right sort of atmosphere… It’s such a tragedy." Maroon 5 are hoping to perform a benefit show at another venue for the families of the stage collapse victims.

COURTENEY COX is to make her directorial TV debut by stepping behind the camera for an episode of her hit new show COUGAR TOWN.
The former Friends star, who is also an executive producer of the show, will take charge of an upcoming episode from season three of the programme.
Her only other directorial experience came in 2008 when she helmed short film The Monday Before Thanksgiving, which starred pal Laura Dern.

CHARLIE SHEEN can’t wait to see ASHTON KUTCHER take over his leading man spot on sitcom TWO AND A HALF MEN because he’s convinced his successor can make the show great.
Sheen was fired from the programme earlier this year (11) following a dispute with producers and Kutcher has been hired as his replacement.
He’ll play an Internet billionaire who takes over the house owned by Sheen’s character, and the former star will be among the millions watching when the show returns in September (11).
He says, "Ashton looks like a movie star, (he’s got) great comedic timing, tons of charm; He’s just got the package for keeping this thing moving forward… It’s a different show."
