MORELLO PREDICTS MORE RIOTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE rocker TOM MORELLO has predicted more riots will break out across the globe unless there is massive political upheaval.
The U.K. was hit with four days of unrest last week (beg08Aug11) following a police shooting in London, and other countries in Europe have also seen rioting in recent years over mismanaged economies.
And Morello is adamant disaffected youths will continue to take to the streets unless there is a huge shift in the way nations are governed.
The guitarist tells Kerrang! magazine, "It’s a time of global unrest because the poor and the working class have clearly had enough. The world is not in the hands of people who deserve to run it and as long as the profit motive continues to be the political priority, the gap between rich and poor is going to grow, as will the unrest.
"When people have a bright future to look forward to, they don’t riot in the streets. Rioting is the expression of those staring into the abyss and it can’t be disassociated from the global situation we’ve witnessed in Spain, Greece, or the Arab world over the past 18 months.
"International poverty has been a powder keg ready to blow and the riots haven’t surprised me."

JERMAINE BLASTS JACKSON TRIBUTE PROMOTERS OVER KISS FIASCO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

JERMAINE JACKSON has blasted the promoters behind his brother MICHAEL JACKSON’s upcoming tribute concert, after they booked - and then pulled - a controversial slot by heavy rockers KISS.
The band was invited to join acts including Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson as part of the Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert in Cardiff, Wales on 8 October (11).
But the group’s addition to the line-up sparked outrage because frontman Gene Simmons made comments last year (10) claiming he still had issues with Jackson’s past paedophile accusations.
Following the uproar, the promoters axed KISS’ slot, saying in a statement, "Under the circumstances we fully agree that even though KISS is a band Michael admired, we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert." But now Jackson’s brother Jermaine has slammed organisers for "getting it all wrong" and for "using" his mother Katherine, who is behind the event.
In a series of angry posts on Twitter.com he writes, "I’m appalled as all fans (are) that Global Live booked an artist like KISS after all Gene Simmons had said about Michael. It doesn’t matter (that) KISS’ invitation is revoked. This mishandling reinforces my view that this promoter is getting it all wrong…
"It also saddens me that my mother is being used to promote this event. Does Global Live really need an 81yo (year old) woman to prop up its event? Stop. I hear you all. Global Live mishandled this booking in the same way it has misjudged the event’s timing and mood of the fan community." Jackson was famously acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005 after a highly-publicised five-month trial.

DOMINGO HOLDING NEW ZEALAND CHARITY GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

Opera star PLACIDO DOMINGO is set to perform a charity concert in New Zealand to benefit victims of the earthquake which hit the country in February (11).

The funds raised from the show will go towards restoring the city’s Court Theatre and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, which were affected by the tremor.
Southern Opera Trust chair Christopher Doig tells Radio New Zealand, "(Domingo) said that made a lot of sense to him because… having been affected himself personally by the Mexican earthquake in 1985 he had great sympathy for the people of Christchurch.
"He agreed to substantially reduce his fee provided we made a significant return back to earthquake-stricken arts organisations in Christchurch."
