Teenage comedy THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE is top of the class at the U.K. box office after scoring the biggest opening of all time for a British comedy.
The raucous film, a big-screen spin-off of the popular British sitcom, took $21 million (£13 million) in sales over the weekend (19-21Aug11).
The comedy, which focuses on a group of teenage boys enjoying a summer holiday in Greece, is also the second highest opening of 2011 in the U.K., with only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 beating it.
Sci-fi prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes is in second place after taking $4 million (£2.5 million), while Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford’s blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens debuts in third place.
The Smurfs and the final Harry Potter movie round out the top five.

TARA REID’s wedding to businessman ZACK KEHAYOV was so hastily arranged she had to say her vows in casual clothes as she had no time to buy a dress.
The American Pie star married Kehayov on the Greek island of Santorini earlier this month (Aug11) after dating him for just two months.
Now the actress has revealed her beau went down on one knee for a romantic proposal as they gazed out to sea - before dashing to a jewellery store to buy a ring.
Reid tells Britain’s OK! magazine, "It’s not an infatuation. Anyone who has met us will tell you the same thing… We didn’t know we were going to do this. We just decided to go on a vacation together, it was very last-minute.
"It was so romantic, we were in Santorini overlooking the ocean and Zack said he thought it would be a good idea, and I agreed with him so he asked me and I said yes…
"(The wedding was) the next day. It was beautiful. It was just me and Zack by the ocean, which was absolutely incredible. We didn’t write down our vows, we said the ones they gave us - but we didn’t read them beforehand, so we were nervous reading them out.
"We just wore what we had - so, for me, a white shirt, white tank top, white pants, and white T-shirt. It was very casual… Zack did a really great job on the rings. That’s really important. There are amazing jewellery shops in Santorini, and he went to one and got me the most incredible ring." And the fast-moving couple is already planning to start a family. Reid adds, "Yeah, we’ll have kids - but not just yet. We want to enjoy each other first. Although, now I’ve said that, I’ll probably get pregnant this year!"

GIRLS GONE WILD founder JOE FRANCIS has been arrested over allegations of false imprisonment after offering three women a lift following a night at a club.
The businessman is accused of offering to drive the trio to their car near a bar in Los Angeles but taking them to his mansion instead.
Francis attended a police station in the city on Monday night (22Aug11) where he was arrested on three misdemeanour counts of false imprisonment and one charge of dissuading a witness from making a report, according to TMZ.com.
He was later released on $50,000 (£31,000) bail.

Fussy KATE MOSS was so determined to make her wedding with JAMIE HINCE a day to remember, she asked famed shoe designer MANOLO BLAHNIK to remake her footwear five times.
The British beauty exchanged vows with the rocker in the English village of Little Faringdon, Oxfordshire last month (Jul11), and Blahnik, who customised his Godichefac sandals for the bride, has revealed his team had to work late to get them ready in time.
He tells Women’s Wear Daily, "We did them five times to get them the way she wanted. My workers are the best people. I wouldn’t be here without them.
"The shoes arrived the day before and there were too many jewels on the heel because of the long train, so we had women working up until midnight to change it."

ROD STEWART and RONNIE WOOD were so broke in their early touring days, they used ugly groupies as chauffeurs to get them home after gigs.
The pair performed together in the Faces in the 1970s, but despite eventually making an impact on the rock ‘n’ roll world, the band’s early days saw the poor rockers becoming friendly with fans so they could get home.
Wood tells Classic Rock magazine, "In the early days we didn’t have much money, so Rod and I used to ponce (borrow without paying back) lifts home from girls in the audience.
"We’d usually end up with the fat ones wearing glasses, but it didn’t matter. If they had a nice car, we’d bundle in and they’d take us home for tea and stuff. And we’d use their phones for long-distance calls, because it was so expensive."

RYAN GOSLING has hailed GEORGE CLOONEY’s meticulous approach to his craft, likening the Hollywood hunk to late music superstar MICHAEL JACKSON.
Clooney directs and stars in upcoming political thriller Ides of March, and Gosling was hugely impressed with his specific vision while shooting the movie.
He says, "It was amazing, like watching someone try to explain a song in their head. I can only compare it to seeing Michael Jackson in This Is It, where he’s trying to explain to a keyboard player how to play a certain part - even in the sea of parts being played, he can pick that out.
"That’s kind of what George is like. He’s like Michael Jackson, basically. I love Mike Jackson. (Clooney) knew exactly what he wanted, and he was very specific. A lot of directors aren’t so clear."

JANI LANE’s close family and friends gathered at a church in Ohio over the weekend (20-21Aug11) to remember the late rocker at a private memorial service.
The body of the former Warrant singer was found at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles on 11 August (11), prompting an outpouring of tributes from stars including Nikki Sixx and Slash.
A string of old school rock bands, including Great White, Quiet Riot and Enuff Z’nuff, have announced a memorial gig for Lane, to be held at the Key Club in Hollywood later this month (Aug11).
And on Saturday (20Aug11) Lane was remembered by around 100 of his loved ones as they gathered for an 85-minute service at Crossroads Community Church in Doylestown, where his cousin Adam Gable is a member.
Gable tells The North Royalton Post, "We had hundreds of requests. We wanted to keep it very intimate, for family and close friends." Lane’s sister Michelle Robinson adds, "Heroes are remembered and legends never die. And that’s true. He always enjoyed being the star and being the frontman. He would enjoy this." An initial autopsy examination on Lane proved inconclusive and experts are waiting on the results of toxicology tests.

QUEEN guitarist BRIAN MAY has paid tribute to the British stunt pilot who was killed during a daredevil performance on Saturday (20Aug11), hailing his bravery for diverting his stricken plane away from houses below.
Jon Egging was part of the famed Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team - known as the Red Arrows - but lost his life after his aircraft plunged to the ground during a show in Bournemouth, England. His body was later found in a nearby river.
And the iconic guitarist, who spent a day with the Red Arrows earlier this year (Jun11) ahead of a charity performance, was quick to acknowledge Egging’s bravery.
May says, "It’s plain that Jon sacrificed his life to save civilians below, as he piloted his stricken hawk jet away from housing, finally ejecting when it was too late to save his own life…
"These men and women are the hardest of nails. But their wickedly humorous team spirit was a joy to be around. This is a heart-breaking time for the team. We salute you Jon. God speed." A full investigation into the tragedy is underway.

Rapper VANILLA ICE shocked fans at a music festival earlier this month (Aug11) by smoking an enormous bong onstage.
The Ice Ice Baby hitmaker was performing at the Gathering of the Juggalos event in Illinois last week (beg15Aug11) when an audience member handed him the huge pipe.
In photos obtained by TMZ.com, he can be seen lighting up the five-foot (1.5-metre) long bong and smiling before continuing with his show.

LENNY KRAVITZ and SEAN KINGSTON have paid tribute to Motown songwriter NICKOLAS ASHFORD, who passed away on Monday (22Aug11).
The musician, who along with wife Valerie Simpson wrote a string of hits including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and Chaka Khan’s I’m Every Woman, died after a battle with throat cancer.
Now Kravitz is leading Twitter tributes to Simpson, writing, "Left rehearsal. Heard Nick Ashford passed. A legend. My heart goes out to Valerie. My Lord, ain’t no mountain high enough. Solid as a rock." Meanwhile, Kingston writes, "RIP NICK ASHFORD… Amazing Songwriter & Musician! Def Will Be Missed." JULIA STILES has a dark side - she loved her murderous role in the hugely successful serial killer TV series DEXTER.
The Save the Last Dance actress was shocked at just how much she enjoyed filming the gory scenes in the series, for which she has since received an Emmy nomination.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the kill scenes and the sacredness of them. In the kill room, when she first gets to put the knife in. That was really special. As a fan of the show, I felt very privileged to be a part of them."

A stuntman for U.S. reality game show FEAR FACTOR has been hospitalised after he broke both of his ankles following a safety mechanism failure during a rehearsal.
The unnamed man was performing a six-storey jump last week (beg15Aug11) when a back-up safety mechanism failed to halt his plunge properly and he plummeted to the ground.
According to TMZ.com, the man was taken to hospital where it was discovered he had broken both his ankles.
The show’s producers tell the website, "Safety is our first priority, and because of that we test these stunts repeatedly with trained stuntmen to ensure our contestants’ well-being." It’s the second accident to plague the show this month - a contestant suffered minor injuries after the truck she was standing on collided with a stunt car.

Screenwriter JIMMY SANGSTER, best known for penning Hammer Horror classics DRACULA and THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, has died at the age of 83.
Sangster began his career as a clapper boy at the age of 16, before moving up to roles as an assistant director and screenwriter. But it was his stint as a writer at Britain’s Hammer Horror studios which made his name, going on to tackle some of their most famous films, including The Mummy and Dracula, starring Sir Christopher Lee.
He later remarked, "All of a sudden I’m a cult figure. But it’s all due to about five movies: a couple of Frankensteins, a couple of Draculas and a Mummy." Sangster’s other notable screen credits include Betty Davis’ The Nanny and Paranoiac, which starred Oliver Reed.
He is survived by his second wife, actress Mary Peach, and his son. No cause of death had been made public as WENN went to press.

A man who allegedly halted plans for a rehab clinic in honour of AMY WINEHOUSE by registering the name of the proposed centre has defended his actions as a "business" decision.
Mitch Winehouse announced last month (Jul11) he wants to set up The Amy Winehouse Foundation to help young Brits struggling with drink and drug addictions.
Plans have been delayed after the name has already been registered as an official company, forcing a furious Mitch Winehouse to hand back donations given to help found the clinic.
He attacked the person behind the move on Twitter.com, writing, "We all have to bombard the tabloids websites to put pressure on this d**k head who stole our foundation name." Now the man who allegedly bought the domain name, Martin McCann, has explained his motives, insisting the purchase was purely business-minded and that he feels no shame.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "I’m not exploiting anything yet. I’ve just bought some domain names. Anybody could have. It only takes the click of a mouse. I’m not ashamed or embarrassed. Detach yourself from emotions and think business.
"He (Mitch) is making every effort to hijack this charity to satiate his own needs for the charity. She’s not the only Amy Winehouse in the world.
"I’m not the d**khead. The d**khead is sitting over there without the name in his possession."

BRAD PITT is set to boost his bank account after putting his Malibu estate on the market for $13.7 million (£8.5 million).
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house, which faces the Pacific Ocean, obviously doesn’t have enough room for his and wife Angelina Jolie’s six-strong brood of children and is now up for sale.
To entice buyers, the property also has a heated pool, a private tennis court and stair access to a private cove.
Pitt also successfully applied for planning permission to add another floor on to the single level home.

Hollywood icon JOAN COLLINS has explained why she once brushed off LILY ALLEN’s intimate greeting at a showbiz party, insisting she only kisses and hugs people she knows.
The Smile hitmaker was taken aback when she tried to give the Dynasty star a friendly kiss after being introduced to her at a celebrity bash in 2009 - and was re-buffed.
She took to her Twitter.com page to tell fans of the run-in, writing, "OMG (oh my God), was just introduced to Joan Collins. Shook her hand and went to kiss her on the cheek. (She said) ‘I don’t kiss people I don’t know.’ AMAZING!" Now Collins has revealed she refused to let Allen get too close because she had no idea who she was.
She writes in Britain’s Daily Mail, "Too many people today are over-familiar. At a party a couple of years ago, a girl dashed forward to greet me in hug’n’kiss mode, her arms outstretched.
"I had no idea who she was, so I took a step back and said: ‘Sorry, I don’t kiss people I don’t know.’ The girl was Lily Allen, whom I had never met before.
"Later that night she went on Twitter to report I had blanked her, and by the next morning, friends in America were emailing me about this complete non-event. All the power of the internet."

Actress KATE WINSLET carried RICHARD BRANSON’s elderly mother to safety after the tycoon’s luxury home on Necker Island burned down around them on Sunday (21Aug11).
The Titanic actress and 20 other guests were staying at the private Caribbean retreat in the British Virgin Islands when lightening hit the wooden property, setting it ablaze.
All guests escaped unharmed, and Branson has paid tribute to brave Winslet after she gathered 90-year-old Eve in her arms and ran from the burning building.
He says, "Many thanks to Kate Winslet. It was she who carried my mother out of the house. She swept her up into her arms and got them out of the house as fast as possible.
"My mum is 90 and can walk but it was more to speed the process up than anything else. But Kate was great." And Branson revealed that the British Oscar-winner felt like she was on the set of a disaster film when the fire broke out, adding, "She said it was like being in a film set where you’re waiting for the words ‘Cut’ but they just don’t come. It was quite surreal for her to be in a real-life situation like that." The house was completely destroyed by the fire, but billionaire Branson has vowed to rebuild the property in time for his daughter Holly’s wedding to Freddie Andrews later this year (11).

Environmental activist LEONARDO DiCAPRIO has bought girlfriend BLAKE LIVELY a racy new gift - an eco-friendly car.
