Irish singer RONAN KEATING has suffered a painful leg injury during training for a charity swim.
The Boyzone star took to the sea off the east coast of Britain on Thursday (25Aug11) in preparation for the fundraising event next month (Sep11) but told fans he is facing "disaster" after pulling a muscle in his leg.
Keating is concerned he has injured his hamstring, sparking fears he will be forced to pull out of the relay swim in aid of cancer charities.

SUGABABES UNAFFECTED BY BUENA’S LEGAL VICTORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

British pop trio SUGABABES have declared it is "business as usual" after former singer MUTYA BUENA won rights to use the band’s name.
Buena, who quit the all-girl group in 2005, recently claimed victory in a battle to use the moniker, sparking speculation the current Sugababes - Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen - would have to find a new name.
However, reports have since emerged suggesting Buena has only won the rights to use Sugababes on a limited number of products, including stationery and gift wrap.
And the current line-up insist they are not letting Buena’s legal victory affect their plans to release a new single next month (Sep11).
A statement on the band’s website reads, "Heidi, Amelle and Jade would like to reassure their fans that it’s business as usual for Sugababes.
"Over four months ago it was officially confirmed by the European Trade Marks Department that Sugababes were successful in claiming their ongoing right to use the name ‘Sugababes’ for all areas of commercial activity that the band requires, namely within the music, sound recording and entertainment industry, as well as being granted extensive rights to produce a wide range of merchandise.
"(Buena’s category of ownership) currently holds no commercial interest for the band and, accordingly, the band has no immediate plans to challenge Ms. Buena for these rights."

WEST DEFIED HORRIFIED FAMILY TO TAKE ON KILLER ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Actor DOMINIC WEST refused to listen to family members who warned him against portraying serial killer FRED WEST, because it was an "incredible acting challenge" for him.
The Wire star portrays West in new U.K. TV movie Appropriate Adult, which centres around the interviews West gave to cops after his arrest in 1994.
The actor reveals one of his siblings was horrified when he told his family of his grisly new role - but he was determined to play the killer.
He says, "My eldest sister thought it was an appalling thing to do. Many people do think that but I’m certain when people see the drama they will feel differently.
"It’s an intelligent and respectful but nevertheless provocative look at an aspect of our society that is very present and, if anything, is getting worse. There are thousands of people in Britain who go missing every year and a proportion of them never turn up again. I realised from looking into Fred West’s story that he wasn’t a loner who lived in a vacuum.
"I read the scripts and realised that it was not centred on Fred West and I overcame my initial moral qualms. I thought that it was something that could be both an incredible acting challenge and also something of serious intent that was not exploitative. If it was a film just about Fred West and his crimes, it would be impossible to justify." Fred West was charged with the murder of 12 young women and girls, but hanged himself in his prison cell in 1995 before he could face trial.

BERG DISMISSES 3D AS HEADACHE-INDUCING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Action director PETER BERG refuses to shoot his new blockbuster in 3D because the format gives him a headache.
Berg helms next year’s (12) summer epic Battleship, which features a naval crew fighting aliens, and he’s resisted pressure to make the movie more lifelike by using the latest technology.
He tells Empire magazine, "3D gives me a headache. That’s my personal view, but I’m just not a fan. I don’t need it, I always find myself taking my glasses off and rubbing my head, you know? "Frankly, I enjoyed Avatar more in 2D than I did in 3D. We talked about 3D pretty early on and I said I didn’t want to do it. In the end, I really don’t think that’s going to be a factor in whether Battleship is successful."

SLATTERY DEFENDS JONES OVER TV SON’S COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:12 pm

Actor JOHN SLATTERY has defended his MAD MEN co-star JANUARY JONES over comments her one-time TV son made about her in a recent magazine interview.
Jared Gilmore, who played Jones’ character Betty Draper’s kid Bobby in the show, offered his successor a few words of advice in a TV Guide article, stating, "Be careful around January. She’s not as approachable as the others. She’s really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice." But Slattery has brushed off the remarks, insisting young Gilmore must have felt intimidated by Jones’ onscreen alter-ego.
He tells E! News, "She’s a sweetheart. We got lucky. We don’t have anybody like that (unapproachable).
"It’s an intimidating character. I mean, that’s the character. Betty Draper is an intimidating woman I suppose, if you were a seven-year-old boy (or) her son."

NEW KRAVITZ SONG INSPIRED BY OBAMA HATRED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

LENNY KRAVITZ’s stirring new track BLACK WHITE AMERICA was inspired by American racists who threatened to kill BARACK OBAMA if he became U.S. President.
The Are You Gonna Go My Way singer was appalled by one TV documentary he saw shortly after Obama announced his intention to run for the White House - and it brought up all kinds of mixed emotions about his own mixed-race upbringing.
Appearing on late night U.S. talk show Tavis Smiley, he explains, "There was a group of people somewhere in Middle America saying that this was not America to them and that this was absolutely disgusting, and what they were gonna do to make sure it doesn’t happen, down to death.
"(They said), ‘If the black man wins, we’re gonna riot, we’re gonna make sure he gets killed and this is a travesty… We all know this (racism) exists but to hear it like this, to hear it so strong in this day and age, it kind of shocked me for a second.
"That’s what inspired the song, and then I started going into my whole past with my parents and what they went through. They got married in 1963 and they were in New York City… and they had hard times - walking down the street, comments, people spitting, yelling." And the rocker admits the fact that his black mother played half of an inter-racial couple on TV show The Jeffersons didn’t help matters: "That was 1975 and that was the inter-racial kiss on primetime television… and I remember the mail that she used to get back then. It was really bad, really bad."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

PARIS HILTON’s ex-boyfriend CY WAITS has been fined $585 (GBP365) after settling drug charges stemming from an arrest last year (10).
The former nightclub boss and Hilton were pulled over by cops while driving down the Las Vegas Strip last August (10) and officers smelled marijuana during a curbside chat with the couple.
Waits was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and the socialite was charged with cocaine possession after police found drugs in her purse.

MEIGHAN APOLOGISED TO WAY OVER INSULT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

KASABIAN frontman TOM MEIGHAN spent an agonising 10 hours trying to avoid fellow rockers MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE on a plane - after insulting the band early in his career.
The British rocker had criticised Gerard Way’s group, accusing the Welcome to the Black Parade hitmakers of penning "ventriloquists’ music" - and then found himself on a 10-hour plane flight from the U.K. to San Francisco with the band earlier this year (11).
He admits he spent almost the entire journey avoiding eye contact before plucking up the courage to apologise to Way.
Meighan tells Q magazine, "I thought, ‘F**k it, I’ve gotta go and apologise.’ So I went over, he went, ‘Hey man!’ We gave each other a hug and then the whole band started laughing.
"I thought, ‘F**k, why didn’t I do this before we took off, (we) could’ve saved ourselves 10 hours of s**t!’ Anyway, all that taking the p**s, we was (sic) only ever having a laugh. What else did you want from young, foolish 23-year-olds?"

WINTER MAKING DOCUMENTARY ABOUT NAPSTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

BILL AND TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE star ALEX WINTER is developing a documentary about the controversial music downloading service Napster.
The actor will team up with U.S. TV network VH1 to direct a film about the website, which was founded during the 1990s by Shawn Fanning.
Napster was eventually shut down due to copyright infringement issues, but Winter insists the free file-sharing site sparked a revolution in technology and social media and its story deserves to be told.
He tells Deadline.com, "The rise and fall of Napster and the birth of peer-to-peer file-sharing technology created by Shawn Fanning when he was a college student, changed music to movies, and made possible everything from… WikiLeaks to the iPod and Facebook.
"It became an expression of youth revolt, and contributed to a complete shift in how information, media and governments work. And it is a fascinating human story, where this 18-year-old kid invents a peer-to-peer file-sharing system, and brings it to the world six months later." Justin Timberlake portrayed Fanning in hit movie The Social Network.

OSBOURNE NOT CUTTING NUDITY FROM FILM ABOUT DAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

Reality TV star-turned-filmmaker JACK OSBOURNE has refused to remove scenes of nudity from a new movie about his rocker dad.
The young director admits his dad, Ozzy Osbourne, was stunned when he saw a first cut of God Bless Ozzy Osbourne and realised he was nude - and insisted his son cut the footage from the movie before it hit cinemas.
Jack says, "I’m like, ‘Too late!’ There is nudity in it." Young Osbourne is proud of his film, which he insists depicts his dad as an "astute" star, but he’s still not sure what the rocker thinks of the film.
He tells Access Hollywood Live, "The only thing he said was, ‘I’m not that bad am I?’ It’s pretty harsh at times." The film will hit select U.S. cinemas on 24 and 29 August (11) before coming out on DVD in November (11).

TORK: ‘I SURVIVED THROAT CANCER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:12 pm

MONKEES star PETER TORK has revealed he’s a cancer survivor after quietly battling the disease in 2008.
The Daydream Believer hitmaker, who recently reunited with bandmates Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz for an ill-fated U.K. summer (11) tour, was diagnosed with a rare form of throat cancer and doctors had to remove a tumour during six hours of surgery in early 2009.
Tork tells the Globe, "It went right from my tongue down my throat. They cut from my lower lip into my throat and opened my jawbone to get to the part of the neck and throat, where the tumour was located." The star underwent radical new proton therapy for six weeks to zap the cancer and many of his saliva glands were destroyed - but he has since fully recovered.
The Monkees’ tour, which began in May (11), was scrapped in July (11) following a management dispute.

RENNER DESPERATE TO WORK WITH DOWNEY JR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:12 pm

JEREMY RENNER is frustrated he has yet to share screen time with ROBERT DOWNEY JR - even though both star in superhero blockbuster THE AVENGERS.
The epic movie boasts several superhero characters, including Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Renner’s Hawkeye, The Hulk, Captain America and Thor, but the plotline for the film has kept Renner from working with his hero.
He says, "I think I’ve maybe seen him twice. It’s weird because here is this big ensemble movie yet we don’t really get to work together. Most of my scenes are with Scarlett Johansson, which is great, but we’re really hoping we all get to team up as filming goes on." Johansson plays Russian spy Black Widow in the movie, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans.

SALDANA ‘OFFENDED’ BY CO-STAR VARTAN’S KISSING BAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:12 pm

Actress ZOE SALDANA was offended when newlywed COLOMBIANA co-star MICHAEL VARTAN refused to kiss her in intimate scenes.
The couple plays lovers in the new action film and Vartan didn’t want to upset his new bride by getting too close to his co-star.
The Avatar actress scolds, "I was offended… I’m a girl and no matter how you think about it, if a guy doesn’t want to kiss you… ‘It’s because of me’.
"He’s very professional, such a sweetheart, a gentleman, but he was sweating profusely. I kind of thought, ‘You must’ve been nervous…’ I guess love scenes are not scenes that he likes to do.
"I remember at one point in between takes I’m like, ‘You know Michael, you can slip your tongue in my throat…’ and he was like, ‘No, I don’t do that. In 25 years of a career, I’ve never slipped my tongue in someone’s mouth.’ "I was like, ‘Is it OK if I slip mine in yours?’ and he said yes, so I did a lot of that."

JACKSON FANS CALL ON MUM TO SCRAP TRIBUTE SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON’s fan club bosses have joined forces in a bid to shut down the upcoming tribute concert to the King of Pop.
In an open letter to the late pop star’s mother, Katherine, and the other event organisers, the 35 fan club officials have urged them to cancel the show, which is scheduled to take place in Wales in October (11).
They fear the concert, which will feature performances by Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Beyonce, is "doomed to fail".
The fans appear to be upset about the timing of the event - during Jackson physician Dr. Conrad Murray’s manslaughter trial - and the one-time addition of rockers KISS.
The band’s performance was scrapped after devotees reminded organisers that bass player Gene Simmons had made ill-advised remarks about Jackson’s child molestation charges last year (10).
A post on the Fans Against Michael Forever Tribute Facebook page reads, "From the timing of this tribute, in the middle of Dr. Murray’s trial, to the ticketing prices, to the obscurity over what charities will be receiving the donation, to the no-guarantee policy of performers, the addition of Gene Simmons and dishonouring, thus tarnishing Michael Jackson’s legacy was simply the last straw."
