EDDIE MURPHY has signed on to voice all-action cartoon character HONG KONG PHOOEY in a new animated caper, according to online reports.
The comedian, who voiced Shrek’s Donkey character, has teamed up with Alcon Entertainment animators for their updated version of the Saturday morning TV hit.
According to Variety, Murphy will play a dog who becomes a crime-fighting kung-fu expert after he is granted mystical powers.
The Hanna-Barbera cartoon version of Hong Kong Phooey ran for 16 episodes in 1974.
Movie mogul Brett Ratner is slated to produce the project.
