LEIGHTON MEESTER’s legal battle with her mother has turned ugly - her mum has filed a countersuit over allegations of misused funds and accused the actress of assaulting her last year (10).
The Gossip Girl star is suing Constance Meester amid claims she took her daughter’s monthly payments of $7,500 (£4,700), intended to take care of her brother Alexander, who suffers from severe medical issues, and used them for cosmetic enhancements for herself.
Constance is also accused of trying to wring more money from Leighton by declaring they had agreed on an oral contract which required the star to pay her $10,000 (£6,250) every month for life.
The actress wants a judge to declare that no such agreement exists, but Constance hit back with a countersuit on Monday (25Jul11), insisting the promise of financial security was in exchange for the sacrifices her mum had already made to turn Leighton into a star.
Constance has gone even further, alleging her daughter attacked her during a fall out in December (10), reports TMZ.com.
The legal papers state, "Leighton intentionally assaulted Constance by throwing her to the ground and repeatedly hitting her with a bottle." And she’s now claiming the actress’ actions are harming the welfare of young Alexander.
The countersuit continues, "Since Alexander receives 24 hour care from Constance, no alternative source of income is possible. As a direct result of Leighton’s breach, there are no funds to feed and care for Alexander."

Pop star KATY PERRY has a new-found appreciation for her husband RUSSELL BRAND’s sobriety following the tragic death of his troubled pal AMY WINEHOUSE.
The Firework hitmaker was among the many celebrities who took to their Twitter.com accounts on Saturday (23Jul11) to express their sorrow over Winehouse’s sudden passing at the age of 27.
But Perry admits the sad news hit her hard because it made her realise that Brand could have faced a similar fate if he hadn’t managed to overcome his long battle with drink and drugs.
During an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Monday (25Jul11), she said, "My heart felt really sad. My husband, who’s been clean and sober for almost nine years, you know, I see him working (on) a (sobriety) programme and working on himself every single day and I see how much work it takes to be clean and sober when you have addiction on your hands.
"So it gave me a real gratefulness for my husband, who got clean when he was 27. And I just feel sad and I hope she finds peace." The cause of Winehouse’s death has yet to be revealed after an initial post mortem examination on Monday (25Jul11) proved inconclusive.

Soul sensation ADELE has paid a touching tribute to AMY WINEHOUSE, insisting the tragic singer had no idea "just how brilliant she was".
The Rolling In The Deep star is still reeling from the sad news of Winehouse’s death, which broke around the world on Saturday (23Jul11), and she’s taken to her online blog to express her grief at the loss of such an "important" British talent.
Adele writes, "Not many people have it in them to do something they love, simply because they love it, with no fuss and no compromise. But she knew what she was capable of and didn’t even need to try. If she wanted to do something she would, and if she didn’t, she’d say, ‘F**k off.’ It came easy to her and that’s why we all loved her so much." And the young star has praised fellow Brit Winehouse for paving the way for soul artists like herself to break into the mainstream charts.
She continues, "We believed every word she wrote, and it would sink in deep when she sang them. Amy paved the way for artists like me and made people excited about British music again whilst being fearlessly hilarious and blase about the whole thing.
"I don’t think she ever realised just how brilliant she was and how important she is, but that just makes her even more charming. Although I’m incredibly sad about Amy passing, I’m also reminded of how immensely proud of her I am as well - and grateful to be inspired by her. Amy flies in paradise." Singer CHARLOTTE CHURCH has thrown her weight behind a campaign to raise money for armed forces charities in Britain.
The former child star is backing the DecAid Appeal, which aims to mark the 10th anniversary of the conflict in Afghanistan this year (11) by raising $560,000 (£350,000) with a mountain-climbing expedition by under-25s in her native Wales.
She says, "It is so important to support our armed forces after everything they have done in Afghanistan over the past 10 years.
"I would encourage everyone to get behind DecAid which is doing so much to encourage people of our age group to show their support for our brave service men and women."

Country icon DOLLY PARTON stunned fans at her Los Angeles concert at the weekend (23-24Jul11) by performing a short rap tribute to her unlikely new pal, QUEEN LATIFAH.

Grammy Award-winning singer LAURYN HILL has given birth to her sixth child.
The former Fugees star welcomed a baby boy on Saturday (23Jul11), but the birth was not without drama, according to BlackCelebKids.com.
A source tells the website, "Mother and baby are fine. (She) had a little scare because the baby came out the womb with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. All is well now and everyone is happy." The star announced her latest pregnancy in June (11), although she has yet to reveal the identity of the father.
Hill already has five children with her on/off boyfriend Rohan Marley.

Real estate mogul DONALD TRUMP has been ordered to pay $200,000 (£125,000) to a golfer he wrongfully banned from his prestigious Florida country club.
The reality TV star suspended Harry Theodoracopulos from his West Palm Beach Trump International Golf Club in 2009 for allegedly verbally abusing staff members and disturbing patrons by speaking too loudly on the course.
Theodoracopulos later took legal action against Trump because he was not notified by the club’s admission’s committee or given an opportunity to argue his side of the story.
Judge Timothy McCarthy has now ruled against The Apprentice star and ordered him to reimburse the golfer for the pricey membership fee, since Trump violated the club’s by-laws and made the decision on his own.
However, Trump plans to appeal the ruling.
His lawyer, Jill Martin, tells the Palm Beach Post, "We believe the club’s actions were justified. The court misapplied the facts and misapplied the law."

British actress THANDIE NEWTON is swapping Hollywood for the London stage in a West End production of political thriller DEATH AND THE MAIDEN.
The Crash star will make her big stage debut as Paulina, a former political prisoner traumatised by a captor she never saw, who sets out to seek revenge years later.
The show, a revival of Ariel Dorfman’s 1990 play, will be directed by Jeremy Herrin and begin previews at the Comedy Theatre on 13 October (11).

Actress OLIVIA WILDE suffered in silence as she "limped" her way through filming on new sci-fi western COWBOYS & ALIENS - because she didn’t want to be the only castmember complaining about injuries sustained during the action shoot.
The Tron: Legacy beauty stars alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in director Jon Favreau’s latest comic book adaptation and Wilde admits she jumped at the chance to pull off her own stunts in the movie.
She tells WENN, "My favourite moment was riding on a horse galloping next to Daniel in between two cranes. And I had my feet out of the stirrups and my hands very loosely on the reins because I had a bungee cord attached to my back which at one point, unbeknownst to me, would be yanked back and I’d be pulled 40 feet into the air as though I’d be lassoed by an alien.
"It was wild because they were originally going to do it with a stunt double and then it looked really fun so I wanted to try it… Our stunt coordinator Tommy Harper went to Favreau and said, ‘I think she can do it.’ So they rigged me up and everybody is sitting there biting their nails thinking, ‘What are we doing?!’ I did it and then I did it 11 more times. It was so wild because once I was up there I had to stay up there waiting for them to reset and I was floating 30 feet in the air and I could see for miles the mountains and the canyons and the deserts. It was really a thrill to do those things." But Wilde was not prepared for the bruising she’d sustain from the prop gun she had to carry throughout the shoot - and she refused to say anything about it until filming wrapped.
She says, "It was also a challenge riding the horse in a big skirt with a gun. I had this giant bruise on my hip bone from the gun slamming against my hip but I didn’t complain because no one else was complaining about bruises on their hips so I limped along."

Welsh actor RHYS IFANS has been arrested on suspicion of battery after an alleged altercation with a security guard at Comic-Con in California.
Ifans appeared at the annual pop culture event in San Diego on Friday (22Jul11) to promote his upcoming action movie The Amazing Spider-Man, in which he stars as the villain Lizard.
But he landed in trouble for reportedly pushing a female guard after a member of his entourage was found to be without proper identification. Ifans was said to have cursed at staff, prompting the guard to make a citizen’s arrest.
San Diego police spokeswoman Lt. Andra Brown tells Reuters, "He was abusive, belligerent and aggressive, and shoved a female security guard." Brown added that the Notting Hill star’s breath "smelled like alcohol".
Ifans was issued with a citation for misdemeanour battery and released. The San Diego City Attorney will now decide whether to pursue further action.
Bosses at Sony Pictures, who are behind the Spider-Man movies, have issued a statement to TheWrap.com insisting Ifans "deeply regrets the incident".

British singer AMY WINEHOUSE has been found dead at her flat in London.
The Back to Black hitmaker, 27, was reportedly found by cops following a call to emergency services on Saturday afternoon (23Jul11). Her death is being treated as "unexplained", according to reports.
The star had a long and highly publicised battle with alcohol and drug addiction throughout her career and often sought help from rehabilitation clinics.
Her battle with drugs is believed to have stemmed from the death of her beloved grandmother, and later her relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil, who she married in May 2007. They later divorced.
Famed for her iconic beehive hairstyle and heavy make-up, Winehouse’s 2003 debut album Frank was nominated for the Mercury Prize. In 2006, her follow-up Back to Black won six Grammy award nominations and five wins. Other honours included a Brit award and three Ivor Novello Awards.
In recent years, she has spent time in the Caribbean attempting to overcome her demons, but a comeback tour was scrapped in June (11) after a disastrous opening gig in Serbia where the seemingly drunk star stumbled around the stage, slurred her songs and stormed off several times.
Winehouse was last seen in public earlier this week (beg18Jul11) when she joined her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield onstage at the iTunes Festival in London.
Winehouse’s father, Mitch, was believed to be onboard a flight back to Britain from the U.S on Saturday.

The proposed MICHAEL JACKSON tribute concert will feature a galaxy of international superstars and will "touch the hearts of millions" around the world, according to organisers.
The King of Pop’s mother Katherine and his siblings Marlon, Tito, Jackie and La Toya are working with officials at promotion company Global Live Events to stage a spectacular show in honour of the late star.
Details of the concert, which will benefit charities in the U.S. and the U.K., will be revealed at a special press conference in Los Angeles on Monday (25Jul11), but the promoters are certain the event will be a global smash.
A spokeswoman for Global Live Events says, "(It) will feature the world’s most amazing music performers and be in honour of one of the greatest and best-loved entertainers of our time. This spectacular event will touch the hearts of millions around the world."

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER’s son Christopher is in an intensive care unit (ICU) in hospital after a surfing accident, according to a U.S. report.
The 13 year old, the actor/politician’s youngest son with estranged wife Maria Shriver, was seriously injured in Malibu, California at the weekend (16-17Jul11). He was admitted to a medical centre suffering from multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung, according to TMZ.com.
The website reports Christopher has spent the last few days in an intensive care unit (ICU), although his current condition is not known.
Schwarzenegger also has a 17-year-old son, Patrick, with Shriver, and he recently revealed he fathered another boy with a member of his household staff - a revelation that appeared to end his marriage.

JESSICA ALBA is taking time with the preparations for her new baby and has decided not to finish the nursery until after the birth.
The Hollywood actress is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Cash Warren and the tot is expected later this summer (11).
However, Alba, who is already mother to daughter Honor, has been slow to get her house ready for the new arrival and admits her work probably won’t be completed until after the baby is born.
She tells Us Weekly, "The nursery isn’t ready. It’s not even close, but I’m accumulating things. In the beginning the baby stays with me in the room, so you don’t need the nursery ready so soon. We’re remodelling our house, so it’s going to take a few months. I’m really taking my time." Alba is also planning to document her progress in a new blog, adding, "I like to buy like old furniture and new furniture and refurbish it. I did that with Honor, so it’d be nice to show it off how I did it."

KEITH RICHARDS’ model daughter Alexandra cancelled a gig in France this week (beg18Jul11) after her boyfriend was struck down with a nasty virus.
The model/DJ was due to play at a private party in St. Tropez on Wednesday night (20Jul11), but decided against flying in from Italy because her partner Nick Cohen had fallen sick with "Mediterranean flu" and been advised not to travel.
Richards’ representative tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, "Alexandra must be by his side. They were both looking forward to DJing. I don’t know what the ‘Mediterranean flu’ is, but he did come down with flu-like symptoms and was advised not to travel."

RUSSELL CROWE is fulfilling his musical ambitions by releasing a number of songs online.
The Hollywood actor plays in a band with his Robin Hood co-star Alan Doyle and they are set to appear at a folk festival in Canada next month (Aug11).
Crowe has now revealed they will also be releasing their tracks via the internet.
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "For those that it interests, Mr Doyle and I will release 9 tracks, 8 of them new Crowe/Doyle songs via the net on August 2nd. Details soon."
