Irish rockers U2 ended the U.S. leg of their world tour with a poignant tribute to an old friend in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Tuesday night (26Jul11).
Frontman Bono closed the show by playing fan favourite Bad for Andy Rowen - his childhood neighbour in Dublin, Ireland, and for whom he originally wrote the song.
Rowen surprised the singer before the show when he turned up backstage with his actor pal Declan Joyce.
Joyce tells WENN, "We were very grateful to Bono for the night." At the end of their set, Bono returned to the microphone and said, "This is for… a very special man, who is here in your city, who grew up on Cedarwood Road. We wrote this song about him and we play it for him tonight," before launching into the U2 classic.
And Rowen was overwhelmed by the dedication, telling WENN, "I was truly knocked out. What a wonderful man!" U2 will wrap up their 360 tour in Canada on Saturday (30Jul11).

LAURYN HILL has broken her silence about her relationship with on/off boyfriend ROHAN MARLEY, insisting he did not "abandon" her while she was pregnant with her sixth child - because the newborn is not his.
The Everything Is Everything star welcomed a baby boy on Saturday (23Jul11), just weeks after revealing she was set to become a mother again.
But rumours about the identity of the child’s father have been swirling ever since Marley posted a number of cryptic messages on Twitter.com suggesting the baby was not his.
In a post on Monday (25Jul11), he wrote, "I’m forwarding all well wishes to Ms. Hill on the birth of her new son. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the love being sent to her." Now Hill has spoken out about the couple’s "complex" relationship in a bid to put a stop to the false reports, which claimed Marley had dumped the singer/rapper to date Victoria’s Secret model Isabeli Fontana.
The statement reads: "Mr. Marley and I have a long and complex history about which MANY inaccuracies have been reported since the beginning. To speculate without the facts can only cause people to form WRONG conclusions. We both value privacy and for that reason defend and preserve our right to it.
"Contrary to the numerous reports, Mr. Marley did not abandon me while pregnant with his child. We have had long periods of separation over the years but our 5 children together remain a joy to both of us. Thank you for your concern and I appreciate all of the well wishes regarding the birth of my new son."

JUSTIN BIEBER, MAROON 5 and the BACKSTREET BOYS are among the stars who are urging their fans to donate money to a charitable fund to provide hospital treatment for three children orphaned in a fatal car crash.
The Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust was set up in the couple’s name after they were killed on 3 July (11) while driving home to Houston, Texas following a family vacation in Colorado.
Their three kids - Peter, nine, Aaron, eight, and daughter Willa, six - survived the tragic accident, but the boys were left with severe spinal cord injuries and are now paralysed below the waist.
Organisers of the Children’s Trust aim to raise money to pay for the kids’ medical needs and future education, and every donor has been gifted with a free Twitter.com avatar featuring the heart-shaped artwork of their Show Your Hearts campaign.
Singer Nicole Scherzinger, New Kids on the Block stars Joey McIntyre and Donnie Wahlberg, Nick Lachey, Smashing Pumpkins, boxer Mike Tyson and reality TV star Khloe Kardashian have all made donations and uploaded their special icon images to encourage fans to do the same.
And Bieber has personally thanked devotees for uniting for such a worthy cause.
In a post on his blog, he writes, "Seeing u all come together for #showyourhearts is pretty amazing. keep donating and spreading the word. super grateful and proud of my fans."

Actress/singer TARYN MANNING is hoping to convince director SCOTT ROSENBAUM to include her music on the soundtrack to their new movie THE PERFECT AGE OF ROCK N’ ROLL with a starring performance at the premiere afterparty.
The star, who appears alongside actors Kevin Zegers and Jason Ritter in the music-themed drama, admits she is trying to win over Rosenbaum with her vocal skills and she’s planning to hit the stage after walking the red carpet in New York on Wednesday (27Jul11) to prove she has what it takes.
She tells WENN, "I’d love to (feature on the soundtrack) and I played the director a couple of songs. The soundtrack isn’t done so anything can happen.
"Tonight is a party at the Brooklyn Bowl with all these legendary blues artists. I’m gonna sing a Rolling Stones cover, Miss You, with them so I’m really excited." Manning has previously provided songs for a handful of her other film soundtracks, but she insists she doesn’t push her music on filmmakers - it just happens to fit.
She says, "Everybody knows I’m a musician and a singer and they honour that about me so somehow my music ends up in films. I really don’t try to hawk my CDs to any director; it’s just somehow, whether I’m in my trailer playing guitar or they just hear about it, I end up in these music films with my music.
"I had my song Being Bad in my very first movie Crazy Beautiful, and my song Crazy Love in Crossroads and Wasting My Time is on the 8 Mile soundtrack with Eminem… It’s been an interesting career because my acting and my music go hand in hand."

Actress RACHEL WEISZ almost missed out on her starring role in upcoming thriller THE WHISTLEBLOWER - she initially snubbed the part as a mum-to-be because she couldn’t cope with the harrowing plotline.
In the movie, Weisz plays real-life whistleblower and Bosnian peacekeeper Kathryn Bolkovac, who brings to light a child sex-slave scandal allegedly being covered up by the United Nations.
The actress was first offered the part in 2006, when she was expecting son Henry with her then-fiance, Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky - but the star wasn’t mentally or physically prepared to tackle the topic and rejected the job.
Appearing on U.S. breakfast show Today on Wednesday (27Jul11), she says, "I did read the script in 2006; I was pregnant with my son. It was too (much), I couldn’t cope with it at that moment.
"But the strange thing was I just never forgot about it. And about two years ago I called up the producer, who I knew, and I said, ‘Remember that script The Whistleblower? Does it still exist?’ And she said, ‘Yes,’ and so it kind of came back. It just stayed with me." And the Oscar-winning star is glad she stuck with her gut because the project has been especially rewarding: "I’m really excited for people to see it… because it’s based on the true story about an ordinary woman who did an extraordinary thing and I love stories like that."

Celebrity tattoo artist KAT VON D axed a Los Angeles TV interview at the last minute on Wednesday (27Jul11) after refusing to discuss her broken engagement to JESSE JAMES.
The star was due to promote the new series of her reality show L.A. Ink on breakfast programme Good Day L.A., but she scrapped the chat moments before she was due to go live after learning she would be quizzed about her break-up.
Von D was reportedly angered by producers’ decision to introduce her appearance by using a clip from L.A. Ink which featured the former couple at her tattoo shop, where she had a childhood image of James inked onto her skin.
In an angry post on Twitter.com after her walk out, she wrote, "Dear GoodDayLA, thanks for the waste of a perfectly good morning. Lack of compassion n (and) respect for each other never fails to dissapoint (sic) me." But Von D’s actions prompted presenter Jillian Reynolds to hit out at the star for her lack of professionalism and urge her to confront representatives at cable channel TLC, who provided the show footage.
Addressing the situation, Reynolds said, "I would say to you Kat, bring it up with TLC, the company that sent the clip of your reality show with Jesse in it. We were just trying to promote your show… If you’re putting your life on a reality show and then you’re not willing to talk about it, it seems kind of…. We sympathise that you broke up, but of course we were gonna ask about it, that’s the clip that they sent to us." Von D and James confirmed their split on Tuesday (26Jul11).

GEORGE CLOONEY felt compelled to throw himself into charity work in war-torn Sudan after winning an Oscar, because the glamorous Hollywood awards season left him feeling "unclean".
The hunk walked away with the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his 2005 movie Syriana, but admits the back-slapping world of the A-list left him feeling uneasy - and he turned to working with the United Nations in the poor African nation to escape the trappings of Tinseltown.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "I had just come out of Oscar season, and you really do campaign, like kissing babies. By the time it’s over, you sort of feel unclean. You want to do something that makes you feel better.
"There is more attention on celebrity than ever - and there is a use for that besides selling products. We can’t make policy, but we can ‘encourage’ politicians more than ever before."

AMY WINEHOUSE’s incarcerated ex-husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL decided against asking prison bosses for compassionate leave to attend the singer’s funeral out of respect for her distraught family.
The Rehab star’s memorial was held in north London on Tuesday (26Jul11), where her devastated father read a moving eulogy to his tragic offspring.
Fielder-Civil, who is serving a 32-month jail sentence for burglary and possession of a firearm, was said to be "inconsolable" when he heard the news of his ex’s passing, but did not ask for special permission from prison chiefs in Leeds, England.
His girlfriend Sarah Aspin tells Britain’s The Sun, "He did not ask to be at Amy’s funeral. There is no way he would want to be there in handcuffs. He has too much respect for Amy and her family to do that." The pair divorced in 2009 after a tumultuous two-year marriage.

MORGAN FREEMAN’s representative has denied the legendary actor has loaned his voice to a right-wing political campaign against a Democrat running for office in Wisconsin.
The video advert slams Shelly Moore, who is running for State Senate in the upcoming Wisconsin elections, over accusations she will increase state taxes, with the money going to pay for "illegal aliens" to have access to free healthcare.
The promo is from a conservative group called Citizens for a Strong America and features a voiceover which distinctly sounds like the Shawshank Redemption actor.
However, his publicist has confirmed Freeman was not hired to voice the campaign.
The rep says, "A political ad running in Wisconsin by a conservative group narrated by someone trying to sound like Morgan Freeman was not narrated by Mr. Freeman. Morgan Freeman did NOT narrate that ad." It is the second time the star has been forced to deny he’s voiced a political campaign - he received an apology from Republican B.J. Lawson last year (10) after the politician used a "voice double" of Freeman on his TV promo.

Incarcerated LIL BOOSIE has a young hip-hop protegee in his family - the star’s nine-year-old daughter has turned rapper to promote positivity in youngsters.
The star, real name Torrence Hatch, is currently serving a four-year sentence for drug and gun possession and violating parole from a previous conviction. He is also due to stand trial next month (Aug11) after pleading not guilty to a first-degree murder charge relating to a 2009 shooting in Louisiana.
However, his young daughter Iviona Hatch is hoping to right her dad’s wrongs by rapping about making the most of your life to boost awareness of America’s U Hatin? campaign.
She says, "I believe in ‘U Hatin?’ because it teaches people to stop and think about what they are doing and saying, this is opposed to pulling people down." Lance Silver, chairman of the campaign, adds, "Iviona’s songs are about having a high self-esteem, getting a good education, listening to your parents and believing in your dreams. She does all of this through entertaining rhymes and storytelling with the same swag as her daddy." Iviona will release her first track, So Hot, in August (11).

Rapper/actress EVE has finally sold her home in the Hollywood Hills - at a loss of more than $400,000 (£250,000).
The Barbershop star purchased the mansion for just under $1.78 million (£1.11 million) in 2005 and placed the property on the market in January, 2010.
The house failed to sell and she was forced to drop the price from its original listing of $2.3 million (£1.44 million) - and she has only now been able to offload the home at the reduced price of $1.33 million (£831,250).

RADIOHEAD are discussing hitting the road for a new tour after a secret set at Britain’s iconic Glastonbury festival breathed "a new lease of life" into the band.
The Creep rockers caused chaos at the music event last month (Jun11) after news of their planned surprise appearance swept across the festival, leading to thousands of fans to flock to the stage.
The group played a number of tracks from their new album, and drummer Philip Selway insists the excitement around their set reinvigorated their love of performing, and sparked the idea of a new trek.
He tells BBC 6 Music, "Absolutely, that (a tour) is what we are talking about at the moment. It felt exciting doing that (Glastonbury) and it felt like we had something else to offer musically.
"It just felt like a new lease of life in what we are doing, and we would like to see where that takes us." The band has not been on tour since 2008, when they completed a small four-date jaunt in the U.K.

Comic-turned-TV presenter GEORGE LOPEZ has vowed to banish himself to Canada if SARAH PALIN ever becomes president of the United States.
The former Alaskan governor previously ran for the vice-president position during John McCain’s Republican bid for the White House in 2008, and became a controversial figure due to her right-wing stance and apparent lack of foreign affairs knowledge.
Palin has not ruled herself out of potentially running for the top job next year (12), but Lopez, who is a Democrat and longtime campaigner for Latino rights, is adamant he will move north if she ever is made leader of the U.S.
He tells Piers Morgan Tonight, "If Sarah Palin becomes president at any point, I would say ‘allegedly’, I will move to Canada.
"I will go further north. I’ve been south but I will go further north. I will leave the United States of America. I like my politicians to actually have a political background."

Olympic skiing champion JERET PETERSON has been found dead in an apparent suicide. He was 29.
The athlete’s body was discovered near Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday night (25Jul11). He allegedly died from a gunshot wound.
Police confirm Peterson called 911 in the hours leading up to his death to warn them he was going to take his own life.
Lieutenant Justin Hoyal, a spokesman for the Unified Police Department in Salt Lake City, says, "He called 911 and said he was going to kill himself." Police add that a suicide note was discovered close to his car.
His death comes after he was cited for driving under the influence on Friday (22Jul11) in Hailey, Idaho.
Peterson won a silver medal in Freestyle skiing aerials at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Comedian GEORGE LOPEZ is refusing to rule out running for Mayor of Los Angeles in 2018, despite previously dismissing his political declaration as a joke.
Last year (10), the Valentine’s Day star and TV host revealed his political ambitions, insisting he’s eyeing the mayor’s chair in his native L.A.
He subsequently backtracked, insisting the comments were merely made in jest, but now Lopez has once again declared his intentions for office - and this time he’s serious.
In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, he says, "(Maybe) in eight years. This is a great city, and it’s my city. I believe that there are certain things that could be taken care of that you don’t need a strong political background in.
"Architecture downtown is beautiful and people live here, but they don’t have a pride in Los Angeles that they did years ago, when I was growing up."

U2 have honoured AMY WINEHOUSE by dedicating a song to the tragic singer during a gig in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The band was playing at the city’s TCF Stadium on Saturday (23Jul11), the day the tragic Rehab hitmaker was found dead at her home in Camden, north London.
The group proceeded to pay tribute to Winehouse during the show, dedicating their 2001 track Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of to her. The song was originally written for late INXS rocker Michael Hutchence, who committed suicide in 1997.
Frontman Bono told the crowd, "We wrote this next song for Michael Hutchence, but you will understand tonight if we play it for Amy Winehouse." Meanwhile, Irish pop stars Westlife also marked Winehouse’s death by dedicating their Saturday (23Jul11) gig at Hamilton Park Racecourse, England to the Rehab hitmaker.
Singer Mark Feehily said from the stage, "It’s been a funny old day. I’m sure you’ve all heard the sad news about Amy Winehouse. I am a massive fan of her; she has done so much for music."
