HARRISON’S WIDOW RALLIES STARS FOR AFRICA FUNDRAISING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:11 pm

ERIC CLAPTON, SELENA GOMEZ, ENRIQUE IGLESIAS and RINGO STARR are among celebrities who have teamed up with the widow of BEATLES star GEORGE HARRISON to raise money for the victims of drought and famine in Africa.
Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia - known as the Horn of Africa due to their location in the east of the continent - have been hit with the worst drought in 60 years and millions of residents are fleeing to find refuge in other areas.
Olivia Harrison, the wife of late guitarist George, founded the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF, to benefit life-saving programs for children in Africa - and she’s announced all cash raised for the charity in August (11) will be used to help those suffering in the current crisis.
She’s called on several famous faces, including rapper Nas, Elvis Costello and Jackson Browne, to use their fame to highlight the Month of Giving initiative - and Olivia’s delighted they’ve all agreed to help out, especially as 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of her late husband’s star-studded 1971 Concert for Bangladesh.
She says, "It’s deeply heartening to see how the compassion of musicians is handed down from generation to generation.
"In 1971 the crisis was in Bangladesh, today it’s the Horn of Africa. My thanks go out to all the musicians who have pledged their support." And the fundraising has already started - Harrison’s UNICEF fund released $1 million (£625,000) on Wednesday (27Jul11) for the relief effort in the Horn of Africa.

ANDERSON URGES ROYALTY TO GO FUR FREE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:08 pm

Animal-loving PAMELA ANDERSON has pleaded with the Danish queen to stop wearing fur.
The former Baywatch beauty, who is a well known animal activist, penned a letter to Queen Margrethe II urging her to follow in the footsteps of stately figures including Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy by axing fur from her wardrobe.
The note was penned by the star on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Anderson writes, "During my visit (to Denmark), I learned that the royal family gets its fur from a ‘trusted source’. May I ask, who is the supplier? "Undercover investigations into fur farms have shown cruelty to animals across the board, from Denmark to the United States. Most fur comes from China, where animals - including dogs and cats - are bludgeoned and even skinned alive for their fur… I hope that your future outfits won’t involve the death of animals, especially for ceremonial garments."

MELUA’S ‘TITANIC’ TERROR ON TRIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:08 pm

Singer KATIE MELUA suffered a terrifying "Titanic moment" on a fact-finding trip to the Arctic when the boat she was travelling in struck an iceberg.
The Closest Thing To Crazy hitmaker headed north with a team including legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin last week (ends24Jul11) to learn about the preservation of local species and the state of the ecosystem in the area.
She told fans it was the "most exciting thing" she’s ever done - but the trip almost ended in disaster when the team’s boat collided twice with a block of ice at Pond Inlet, in the Arctic region of Canada, on Saturday (23Jul11).
In a post on her official blog, Melua writes, "We arrived at camp in the evening but first had an incredible ride on the boat from Pond Inlet to our camp site. On two occasions the boat hit ice and the first time a few people nearly fell out of the boat! The water seemed clear and the captain didn’t spot the ice sheets, hence the close ‘Titanic’ moment!" Melua and Aldrin returned to Port Inlet on Sunday (24Jul11), and the singer adds, "Having reached the Arctic I can now say another dream has come true! I can also add to the list of beautiful and indescribable places of planet Earth that I’ve seen and that have inspired me to take action for the environment."

JACKASS prankster BAM MARGERA jumped on stage to show off his rapping skills over the weekend (23-24Jul11) as part of a fundraiser in memory of his late pal Zachary Hartwell.
The daredevil performed a rendition of Lil Wayne’s Runnin’ at the event in West Chester, Pennsylvania on Saturday (23Jul11), which was held in memory of his friend who died in a high-speed car crash last month (Jun11), alongside Margera’s Jackass co-star Ryan Dunn.

WINEHOUSE’S THIRD ALBUM WAS ‘NOT COMPLETE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:29 am

Tragic AMY WINEHOUSE’s much-awaited third album is not complete, and won’t be released in the near future, according to her producer SALAAM REMI.
Following the star’s death at the weekend (23Jul11), speculation has grown about the material she recorded for her highly-anticipated follow-up to 2006’s Back to Black, which was slated to be released last year (10).
The singer’s unheard work was said to be enough to fill three albums, but Remi, a long-time producer and pal of Winehouse, insists it was nowhere near completion at the time of her passing, and is adamant rumours of an impending release are false.
He tells New York radio station Power 105.1 FM, "We were working on it; it’s not a complete album. We had a lot of things going, there are recordings, but first things first, I think. We’re trying to focus on what’s at hand and what her family wants to do. So those reports (of a release) are false.
"To put it all in a nutshell, Amy loved to sing, to write… that ability never left her. She was very good at channelling her emotions into lyrics, and then being able to sing them. She was in a place to go forward and make it happen… The way that Amy and I always created was she would write and we would toss ideas around.
"Amy had strong opinions on everything… She was very opinionated about what she liked. At the end, she was a real person. She had a huge heart."

LEVINE SLAMS PAPARAZZI-HATING STARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:26 am

MAROON 5 star ADAM LEVINE is sick of his Hollywood peers moaning about the attention they receive from the paparazzi and is urging them to think about their fans who have "real problems".
The rocker has seen his fame leap since he signed up as a judge on hit U.S. talent show The Voice last year (10), but he’s adamant the increase in attention does not bother him.
And Levine has lashed out at celebrities who constantly begrudge being tailed by snappers - insisting they knew what to expect before signing up for a life in the limelight.
He tells CNN’s Piers Morgan, "It is a two-way street, and it is a two-way street in the (way) that you look at it. People want to be famous for some reason, for me, I wanted to be a successful singer, it had less to do with fame. If you’re going to be on television, if you’re going to be a singer, if you’re going to be an actor, there’s gonna be a lot of this that comes with it.
"A lot of people that start hating it, and when it starts consuming them and owning them, (most of the time) they brought it on themselves, sometimes that’s not the case, but to complain about it so passionately is irresponsible because there’s a lot of people with real problems. It’s nothing more than a pain in the a**. They don’t bother me, they don’t stalk me, they don’t stay outside of my house or anything."

Rocker ADAM LEVINE has a 10-year plan - he wants to be the father of a two-year-old tot by the time he’s 42.
The Maroon 5 hunk is currently enjoying a busy schedule, re-releasing the band’s third album, Hands All Over, and sitting on the panel of U.S. TV talent show, The Voice.
But the 32 year old is already eyeing the quiet life, and insists in a decade he wants to be at home focusing on fatherhood.
He tells Piers Morgan Tonight, "Where do I wanna be when I’m 42? I would (like) to be working less and… considering the idea of having a family and at that age I like the idea of having a two year old. I want to start having kids." However, the star, who is dating supermodel Anne Vyalitsyna, isn’t as sure about marriage as he is about parenting, adding: "I don’t think you necessarily have to be married to have children. Marriage is a controversial thing, clearly. In a lot of ways it doesn’t work, and in a lot of ways it does."

MORRISSEY: ‘NORWAY MASSACRE NOTHING COMPARED TO FAST FOOD KILLINGS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:23 am

MORRISSEY has sparked fury among fans after insisting the massacre in Norway last week (22Jul11) was "nothing" compared to the number of animals killed daily for the fast food industry.
The controversial former The Smiths star was on stage at a show in Warsaw, Poland on Sunday night (24Jul11) when he gave his thoughts on the two terror attacks in Oslo, which claimed the lives of at least 76 people.
According to Britain’s Daily Mirror, before starting his track Meat Is Murder, the outspoken vegetarian told the crowd, "We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown… Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried S**t every day." The paper claims fans flocked to web forums to slam the remark.
A spokesperson for the singer says, "Morrissey has decided not to comment any further as he believes his statement speaks for itself." Morrissey has been vehemently opposed to the meat industry throughout his 28-year career, and has even banned burgers and sausages from being cooked at venues on his current tour.
