STONE TO BUY GUARD DOGS AFTER ‘ROBBERY PLOT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

Soul singer JOSS STONE is planning to buy three guard dogs for her remote countryside home after a robbery scare last month (Jun11).
Two men were arrested close to the star’s cottage in south west England and charged with conspiracy to rob and assault the You Had Me hitmaker.
She insists she is unfazed by the drama but it has given her the "perfect excuse" to buy three puppies who will serve as guard dogs when they grow bigger.
Stone tells Billboard.com, "I would love to tell you about it, but I’ve been told not to, for obvious reasons… I’m fine… It’s weird. People are interesting in their heads but… now I have a perfect excuse to get three really cute little puppies that are going to grow up to be really big, cuddly dogs who will protect me, so I’m actually excited and I have to send (the suspects) a ‘thank you’ letter." Two men are due in court on Friday (01Jul11) to face the charges.

WATSON ‘SCARED’ BY LOOKS-OBSESSED L.A.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

British actress EMMA WATSON is terrified of settling down in Los Angeles, because she couldn’t stand obsessing about her looks and weight all the time.
The Harry Potter star has returned to England in preparation to study at the prestigious Oxford University after a year reading English Literature at America’s Brown University in Rhode Island.
But the beauty is adamant she’ll never consider living on the west coast of the U.S. in looks-obsessed L.A., because she fears the focus on the body-beautiful would damage her sanity.
She tells Britain’s Harper’s Bazaar, "L.A. scares the c**p out of me. I feel if I have to work out four hours a day, and count the calories of everything I put in my mouth, and have Botox at 22, and obsess about how I look the whole time, I will go mad. I will absolutely lose it."

GALLAGHER GIVES UP BOOZE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:22 pm

Former hellraiser LIAM GALLAGHER has turned his back on his wild ways after quitting booze at the beginning of the year (11).
The ex-Oasis rocker was famed for his drinking in the band’s heyday, but after 20 years of heavy partying, the 38 year old decided to stop boozing on New Year’s Eve (31Dec10) - and hasn’t touched a drop since.
He tells British TV host Alan Carr, "I haven’t had a drink since New Year’s Eve. I’m having a bit of a break. I went 20 years drinking and messing about. It’s rubbish." And he reveals that he was so drunk after Oasis’ first night of their legendary shows at Knebworth House in England in 1996, he woke up with no memory of his performance.
He adds, "At Knebworth I thought we were doing one night and we were doing two. I got that mashed (drunk) on the first I woke up to a knock on the door and thought I was at home. I forgot all about it. But I had to go and do it again. That was heavy."

VIOLENCE BREAKS OUT AT RAP LAUNCH PARTY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

Hip-hop producer PETE ROCK has blasted cops after officers clashed with partygoers at the launch of rap duo SMIF-N-WESSUN’s new album.
The group was holding an event to celebrate the release of its Monumental album in New York City on Tuesday (28Jun11) when the venue’s security bosses called police after an altercation among guests.
When cops arrived, scuffles broke out and the officers drew their batons and used "appropriate force" to deal with the disturbance.
But Rock has issued a statement accusing cops of overreacting and claiming his wife and stepdaughter were caught up in the violence at Manhattan’s Tammany Hall.
He tells MTV News, "We were coming out and someone was screaming, ‘Yo, Pete, your wife, your wife.’ So I ran out to make sure they were OK and to make sure the cop would stop hitting them. My stepdaughter said the cop was hitting her leg and she jumped in the way for her mother, which is my wife, to take the hits… The cop was going bananas (out of control)." A spokesman for the New York Police Department says, "Police officers had every right to defend themselves against individuals assaulting them, and used appropriate force in doing so. They also protected civilians who were being pelted with bottles at the outset, as they responded to the location at the request of the club’s own security."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

Music mogul SIMON COWELL has expressed "concern" over proposals to build a travellers’ site next door to his mother’s home and is preparing to battle the "unsuitable" plans.

Julie tells Britain’s Daily Star, "Simon shared my concern that the area would be unsuitable." The site is just one of several being considered for the travellers, but Cowell is reportedly planning to fight the proposals if the plan is approved.
A source adds, "Simon’s very protective of his mum. He’ll throw his considerable wealth and influence at blocking this plan."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

MEGAN FOX’s representative has confirmed the actress became romantically involved with SHIA LABEOUF on the set of TRANSFORMERS, after he went public with the fling earlier this week (beg27Jun11).

Speaking to Details magazine, he said, "You’re on the set for six months, with someone who’s rooting to be attracted to you, and you’re rooting to be attracted to them.
"I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen… It was what it was." The actor insists he’s unaware if Fox was dating her now-husband Brian Austin Green at the time of their tryst, and the actress has so far kept quiet about the speculation.

NEWSMAN SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY FOR CALLING OBAMA NAMES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:52 am

A U.S. political news pundit has been suspended indefinitely after calling U.S. President BARACK OBAMA a rude name during a live chat on MSNBC on Thursday (30Jun11).
Contributor Mark Halperin, who is Time magazine’s Editor-At-Large, was being interviewed on U.S. breakfast show Morning Joe when he claimed Obama was "being a d**k" when he called for members of congress to cancel their vacation if they didn’t have a debt limit for America fixed before the Independence Day weekend (beg01Jul11).
The show’s host, Joe Scarborough, called for the comment to be bleeped, but it went out uncensored.
Halperin thought he was on a seven-second delay when he made the comment, which he apologised for later.
Obama’s press secretary Jay Carney has commended MSNBC bosses for acting swiftly and suspending Halperin.
He says, "The comment that was made was inappropriate. It would be inappropriate to say that about any president of either party. And, on behalf of the White House, I expressed that sentiment to executives at the network."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:52 am

SPIDER-MAN star TOBEY MAGUIRE has fired back at allegations he took cash from a convicted conman in unlicensed poker games, insisting the card play was no more than fun among friends.
Maguire has been accused of taking more than $300,000 (£187,500) in winnings from bankrupt hedge fund manager Bradley Ruderman, who is currently behind bars after he was convicted of operating a fraudulent Ponzi scheme.
Bankruptcy trustees filed suit against Maguire in a bid to recoup money that Ruderman claims to have lost in illegal poker games in California, but the actor has now filed legal documents, categorically denying that he participated in high-stakes celebrity poker games.
In his suit, obtained by TMZ.com, he maintains the poker games were not "controlled" and there was not a "regular roster of players consisting of wealthy celebrities, entrepreneurs, attorneys and businessmen."

WOMEN’S RIGHTS GROUP PLAN TO PROTEST ODD FUTURE FESTIVAL SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

Controversial rap group ODD FUTURE’s upcoming Pitchfork Music Festival appearance in Chicago, Illinois will bring out the protesters on 17 July (11) - activists from a women’s rights group plan to make sure TYLER, THE CREATOR and his band know they don’t approve of their misogynistic lyrics.
The hip-hop collective has upset members of rights group Between Friends, who plan to peacefully protest at the festival and hand out information and resources aimed to counter violence against women.
They’re not the only group offended by Odd Future’s musical message - bosses at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) have blasted frontman Tyler for his controversial rhymes about rape and murder and insist homophobic slurs he has published on Twitter.com are "inexcusable".
Spokeswoman Kimberley McLeod writes, "Tyler has said in interviews that he is not homophobic, yet his Twitter feed and rhymes are rampant with anti-gay slurs and references. His defense that ‘people take things too seriously’ or that he’s ‘just a kid’ is inexcusable.
"Using hateful language, regardless of the context, is unacceptable and in fact, very serious. Tyler’s attempts to be provocative as well as his indifference towards the consequences of his actions are irresponsible." GLAAD’s criticism came just days after Tegan and Sara pop/rock star Sara Quin published an open letter urging music journalists to condemn Tyler’s "sickening" and "hateful message".
