Cooper loved the script as soon as he read it - and he did everything possible to ensure he landed the lead role.
He tells BBC Radio 1, "Instantly (I wanted the role) - I fought for it, I wanted to do it so badly. (Screenwriter) Leslie Dixon wrote an incredible script, an adaptation of a book called The Dark Fields by an Irish man named Alan Glynn. I loved it. The script just read like a house on fire, it was unbelievable.
"I thought, ‘God, if anyone can ever capture that on film it’d be great’."

CRAIG HAILS ‘CLASSIC’ BOND SCRIPT

BANDERAS ARRESTED AS A MIME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

ZORRO star ANTONIO BANDERAS was once arrested while dressed as a mime for a protest play in Spain.
The Spanish actor was part of the counterculture movement dubbed Modiva following the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975.
However, there was still confusion and unrest in Spain, particularly among authorities who were used to following Franco’s hardline approach - and Banderas felt the full force of the law during a protest play.
He explains to Empire magazine, "I remember doing one of those sketches and seeing the helmet of cops. ‘Oh, s**t’. When the curtains come down, they were on stage: ‘You have to come with us.’ We were all painted, you know? In white, with tears and stuff - like a mime.’ So they handcuffed us and put us in a car and took our prints and pictures.
"It was still the government of the conservative people trying to scare people who may be threatening for them at the time. But it was very clear that there was no way back - and it was just a matter of time. And they even knew it."

LAUTNER’S TWILIGHT ACTING BRANDED ‘WOODEN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:17 pm

Director JOHN SINGLETON was unsure about working with teen heart-throb TAYLOR LAUTNER, blasting the actor’s work in TWILIGHT as "wooden".
The Boyz n the Hood filmmaker helmed upcoming action thriller Abduction, which sees Lautner in his first starring role outside the hugely successful vampire romance series.
However, Singleton was forced to show Lautner lots of films featuring "good actors in them like Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise" in a bid to take his onscreen ability to the next step.
Singleton tells Empire magazine, "He’s totally different in this than he was in the Twilight series. He’s just so much more relaxed. Before, I felt he was kind of wooden, just young and impressionable and not totally comfortable. But here, he’s really an actor. You can see he’s not just a pretty face."

CIBRIAN’S PLAYBOY SHOW SLAMMED BY WATCHDOG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

EDDIE CIBRIAN’s new U.S. show about HUGH HEFNER’s famous Playboy Club has come under fire from activists at a TV watchdog group, who have branded the racy series "disgraceful".
LeAnn Rimes’ new husband plays lawyer Nick Dalton in upcoming NBC series The Playboy Club, which is set in the Chicago, Illinois hotspot in the 1960s.
But members of the Parents Television Council are furious about the show and want the programme axed before its planned premiere in September (11).
Bosses claim the series is glamorising pornography, and group president Timothy Winter has sent a letter to NBC in California calling for The Playboy Club’s axe.
The letter, also published on the PTC website, states, "About 200,000 Americans are ‘porn addicts’ - meaning they spend 11 hours or more per week looking at pornography. How on earth could you, in good conscience, agree to broadcast in your community a program that glorifies and glamorises this insidious industry? "Putting a veneer of sophistication on an industry that exploits women and destroys families is not laudable, it is disgraceful… Whatever positive spin you may wish to put on the series, it is undeniably a betrayal of the trust you have built over the years with America’s families - the owners of the broadcast airwaves that you will be using to force this content into the living rooms of every family in your community." Winters also vows his group will be watching the shows closely to ensure they comply with U.S. broadcasting laws, adding: "Be assured that the Parents Television Council will be carefully reviewing every episode and will urge its members to file complaints with the Federal Communications Commission about any content that may be in violation of broadcast decency laws."

GERVAIS’ ‘CRUCIFIXION’ PHOTO REJECTED BY MAGAZINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

RICKY GERVAIS missed out on the chance to land a coveted cover feature in Rolling Stone magazine after submitting a photograph of himself in a crucifixion pose with the word ‘atheist’ painted on his chest.
The Office creator was asked to send in an image to accompany a feature and he chose a picture of himself topless, wearing a crown of thorns, with fake blood dripping down his face, and a microphone stand placed behind his outstretched arms.
Editors at the publication requested an alternative picture in case the image, which resembles Christ on the cross, was too shocking for readers - but Gervais stood his ground and the magazine carried a photo of Rihanna on the cover instead.
In a blog entry for the Huffington Post, Gervais writes, "I’ve wanted to do this picture for about 20 years. Finally did it this week with photographer Rich Hardcastle. And this was done for Rolling Stone magazine but I think they decided it was a little strong for their demographic.
"To be fair when I described it to them over the phone weeks before the shoot they said they’d like an alternative, if I wanted a front cover. When it came to it I decided that I didn’t want to do an alternative, as I knew they would go with that. I was right. They definitely would have gone with the alternative, but since I didn’t give them one they went with Rihanna. Ha Ha. Fair enough. I stand by my decision." Gervais also shows readers another controversial recent photo in which he’s posing as a suicidal clown with a gun in his mouth.

The Ronettes singer tells Rolling Stone, "When I saw her two weeks ago on TV and she was all drugged out, drinking and stuff, I said, ‘Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it! Don’t become like I was 20 years ago! I cleaned up. You gotta clean up!’ And two weeks later, she’s dead. I’m devastated."
