SLIPKNOT EYE U.S. TOUR IN 2012

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:17 pm

SLIPKNOT are eyeing a U.S. tour next year (12) after a series of comeback shows in Europe left them feeling more "positive" about the future of the band following the death of bassist PAUL GRAY.
The rockers recently played dates in the U.K. and across mainland Europe as part of the Sonisphere travelling festival, marking their return to the stage following the tragedy last year (10).
They had previously thrown the group’s future into doubt by warning fans they might never record a new album - but frontman Corey Taylor has now confirmed they have held talks about a U.S. tour next year following their Sonisphere success.
He tells HardDrive Radio, "Definitely after this tour, I’m definitely much more positive than I was. Am I ready to run into a studio? No. Everybody just slow down, because it’s still very fresh to me. It still doesn’t make sense yet, you know, there’s still a lot of healing that we’ve got to do before we can get there.
"Am I open to more tours? Absolutely. I mean, we’ve talked about doing something next year in the States and, you know, letting the fans kind of celebrate as well. So time will tell." Taylor also thanked fans who attended their set at Sonisphere shows and observed the two-minute silence in honour of their late bandmate, adding: "The whole tour has been great. Thank you to everyone who came and everyone who participated in the two minutes of silence for Paulie - he would have been so proud." Gray died from an accidental drug overdose in a motel room in Iowa in May last year.

MACKIE BUILT BAR FROM BROADWAY THEATRE SETS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:17 pm

THE HURT LOCKER star ANTHONY MACKIE built his Brooklyn bar using wood from discarded Broadway theatre sets.
The actor, who is also a trained carpenter, launched his own drinking establishment, called NoBar, in Brooklyn, New York earlier this month (Jul11) and he built much of the venue himself.
Mackie has now revealed a lot of the wood used in the project came from dumpsters outside Broadway theatres.
He tells the New York Post, "A lot of times when Broadway shows close, they just rip stuff up. If you can find out when shows are closing, you can get good wood out of the dumpsters. It’s funny what you can find."

GERVAIS DEFENDS NEW TV SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Funnyman RICKY GERVAIS has defended his upcoming TV show AFTERLIFE, insisting he is not attempting to "undermine the moral fabric of America".
The Office creator revealed earlier this week (beg18Jul11) he is working on a new comedy with writer Clyde Phillips, about an atheist who dies and goes to heaven.
But he is furious it has already been labelled an "atheist comedy" and is urging fans not to judge the show until they’ve seen it.
In a post on his official blog, Gervais writes, "How is a show called Afterlife, about an atheist who dies and goes to heaven, an ‘Atheist Comedy’? He goes to heaven. Therefore in this work of fiction heaven must exist. So does God by the way. Turns out the atheist was wrong. How is that an atheist comedy?… I can’t win.
"The Invention of Lying proposed an alternative world where there was no God. That was an atheist comedy too. Seems the existence or non-existence of God in my work has no bearing on whether it’s an atheist comedy or not. It just is. Because I wrote it right? That’s so weird… We’ve come up with this show because we think it will be fun, different and entertaining. Not to undermine the moral fabric of America.
"Here’s what I suggest you do; wait till Afterlife is finished then watch it. Or not. But if you watch it then you’re allowed to have an opinion… You can start a campaign to get it banned. You can hate it. And trust me, it’s so much more fun saying you hate something once you’ve actually seen it. So, please wait, watch and find out if it’s controversial or inflammatory first, yeh?"

PATTINSON’S FEARS OVER STRIPPING SCENES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:29 pm

ROBERT PATTINSON was plagued by insecurities during the filming of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN because he had to take his top off.
The British hunk was promoting the upcoming two-part vampire movie at the Comic-Con event in California on Thursday (21Jul11), and when a fan asked him about his most anxious moment on-set, the star admitted it was baring his torso.
He says, "The thing I was most nervous about was taking my shirt off. I’ve managed to have my shirt on the whole series. In the book, (my character Edward is shirtless) almost every three pages. (I thought) ‘How can I wear a T-shirt in the sea? Or a onesie?’" He also warned fans not to expect too much from the shirtless scenes, adding, "I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. I look like an inflatable frankfurter in some of those (scenes)."

RIHANNA’S S&M LAWSUIT HEADING TO TRIAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

RIHANNA’s legal battle with DAVID LACHAPELLE over her S&M music video is heading to trial after a judge in New York granted the famed photographer permission to continue his case against the singer.
The celebrity snapper sued the star earlier this year (11) over allegations her controversial promo, which was banned in 11 countries across the world, was "directly derived" from some of his images.
The case went to court in New York and in a ruling released on Thursday (21Jul11), U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin noted alleged similarities between the music video and LaChapelle’s work and paved the way for the lawsuit to go to trial.
Judge Scheindlin dismissed LaChapelle’s claims of trade-dress infringement, unfair competition and unjust enrichment, but allowed him to proceed with his allegation of copyright violation.
A conference between the parties is scheduled for 10 August (11).

BEYONCE TOOK A SHINE TO STREISAND IN A STAR IS BORN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

BEYONCE’s upcoming role in CLINT EASTWOOD’s A STAR IS BORN remake is a childhood dream come true as she became a BARBRA STREISAND fan while watching the 1970s version as a kid.
The Irreplaceable hitmaker will play rising singer Esther in the fourth re-imagining of the classic, following in the footsteps of Streisand, Judy Garland, and Janet Gaynor.
Beyonce admits the role will be especially poignant as she fell in love with Streisand’s voice during screenings of the movie with her mother when she was a young girl.
She tells Reuters, "It’s when I became a fan of Barbra Streisand’s. And I then saw Judy Garland’s version of A Star Is Born and I realised every 20 to 30 years a new star is born and a new talent represents that generation and era - so I didn’t think that I would ever get the opportunity to be the star." Despite her stellar previous success, Beyonce has hailed this movie role as "the biggest opportunity" of her life, and can’t believe Eastwood chose her to front the film.
She adds, "I met with Clint and I was so nervous and I know that it is the biggest opportunity of my life. I will work as hard as I can. Because I can’t wait. And I am so happy that he trusts me and I am in good hands and I am so fortunate."

JACKSON FAMILY PLANNING ANOTHER TRIBUTE CONCERT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON’s family members are organising another tribute show in memory of the late superstar following a number of failed attempts to bring a commemorative concert to the stage.
The Thriller hitmaker’s mother Katherine is working on plans to stage a gig along with the singer’s siblings Marlon, Tito, Jackie and La Toya.
The concert, which has been called a "thriller of a show" in a press release from the Jackson family, will benefit charities in both the U.S. and U.K. and more details will be revealed in a press conference in Los Angeles in Monday (25Jul11).
Jermaine Jackson previously planned to honour his brother at a show in Vienna, Austria just months after the superstar passed away in 2009, but the plans were shelved along with another idea to host a concert in London on the 2010 anniversary of the star’s death.
The new concert is being coordinated by Jackson’s family and bosses at promotion company Global Live Events, but does not involve Jackson’s estate, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:20 pm
