RIOT POLICE CLASH WITH DANCE MUSIC MOB
Riot police clashed with an unruly crowd outside the Hollywood film premiere of a documentary about the ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL.
The disruption on Wednesday evening (27Jul11) occurred after eager music fans desperate to see Electric Daisy Carnival Experience were refused entry because of overcrowding concerns at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
Police officers ordered the crowd to disperse, but had to call for additional support when the 100-strong mob reportedly began to cause trouble.
One eye witness, coffee shop worker Greg Magda, reveals, "There were people trampling all over the police cars, smashing the windows." Cops managed to control the situation within hours, and two people were arrested. A police chief also stated that three police cars were damaged but no injuries were reported. A section of Hollywood Boulevard was also shut down during the disturbance.
The Electric Daisy Carnival is an annual dance music festival which has been held in different locations in the U.S. since its launch in 1997.
