CZECH VIOLINIST SUK DIES
Award-winning Czech violinist JOSEF SUK has died at the age of 81.
The musician passed away on Wednesday night (06Jul11) after a long illness.
Suk, the great-grandson of celebrated composer Antonin Dvorak, became known for his chamber music, founding the Suk Trio in 1951 and the Suk Chamber Orchestra in 1974.
He was feted around the world and received the Grand Prix de l’Academie Charles Cros of Paris an impressive six times throughout his career.
