Actor KEVIN COSTNER has won a legal battle with an artist, which will allow him to keep sculptures of Native Americans hunting bison at his South Dakota museum.
The Dances With Wolves star commissioned artist Peggy Detmers to create 17 bronze man-and-beast figures, so he could display them at a proposed five-star resort.
The hotel plans fell through and the actor donated the Lakota Bison Jump collection to his Tatanka tourist attraction near Deadwood.
Detmers filed a breach of contract lawsuit against the star in 2009, insisting she had not agreed to the placement change.
In a court decision delivered this week (ends01Jul11), Circuit Judge Randall Macy ruled in favour of Costner.
He said, "Her significant involvement in the Tatanka project and her failure to tell Costner or anyone else that she did not agree with placement at Tatanka indicate she was agreeable to the sculptures’ placement at Tatanka for the long term." And Costner is glad the legal battle is over.
Jim Nelson, Costner’s attorney, tells the Rapid City Journal, "This was absolutely the right decision. The facts show she agreed to a permanent location of the sculptures at the Tatanka location… (Costner is) well satisfied with the decision."

ZIGGY MARLEY is creating a new documentary about his dad BOB to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death.
The I Shot The Sheriff hitmaker passed away after a long battle with cancer in 1981, and son Ziggy is set to pay tribute to the reggae legend by shooting a personal film to preserve his father’s legacy and show fans another side of the singer.
He tells Us Weekly magazine, "We are working on his documentary, which should be out in the fall. I am producing the documentary and Kevin McDonald will direct it.
"People are going to have not only the connection that you have now with the Bob Marley legend, but it will also show the emotional side of our father. The emotion of Bob throughout his life experiences is a pretty pertinent thing. It is not just about his music."

There’s trouble on the set of BRAD PITT’s new zombie movie WORLD WAR Z in Malta - two of his co-stars have quit the project.
Vulture.com reports Matthew Fox and Ed Harris have pulled out of the film, which is currently in pre-production on the Mediterranean island.
A scheduling conflict forced Fox out of World War Z; it is not known why Harris has quit.

JADA PINKETT SMITH has given up her rock career so she can spend more time with her kids.
The actress toured the world as the singer of heavy rock act and she insists it wasn’t the bad reviews that prompted her to stop rocking - it was her kids Jaden and Willow.
Smith tells Redbook magazine, "I had to make choices. Believe me, I would still be on the road with my band, Wicked Wisdom, and making as many movies as I can a year, and doing all sorts of other things if I didn’t have the responsibility of a family.
"But I have children with their own talents and dreams, and I know I have to be standing next to them for that journey." And she admits it was tough to walk away from her band: "It was excruciating, completely excruciating. When Jaden was auditioning for (film) The Pursuit of Happyness, my band had just gotten an offer to open for Guns N’ Roses in Europe.
"For me, that was unbelievable. But the choice was: I could be a rock star, or I could be on the set with my son to make sure he was healthy and happy. We all know how that story ended!"

Rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES are to rejoin the Vans Warped Tour in America on Friday (01Jul11) after frontman ANDY BIERSACK was given the OK to perform again after smashing his ribs in a balcony fall last month (Jun11) The frontman lost his grip while clambering along a balcony rail during a promotional concert at the Hollywood & Highland shopping mall in Los Angeles.
The fall left him in the hospital with three fractured ribs.
The band was forced to scrap a series of concerts and the start of the Vans Warped Tour, which began last week (24Jun11).
But Biersack is making a good recovery and medics have given him the all-clear to get back onstage.
He tells Billboard.com doctors have given him "a very cautious clean bill of health", adding, "Pretty much I can do whatever I want in terms of movement. Anything short of blunt trauma to my ribs won’t affect my healing." A nurse will be on standby at each Warped tour stop to make sure Biersack is bandaged properly at all times.
He says, "It’s gonna be about the most un-fun tour you can imagine - no drinking, no partying, just rest and then playing." Black Veil Brides will hit the stage on Friday for the Vans Warped Tour stop in Pomona, California.

Chesney credits the win on his efforts to take care of himself when he’s on the road.
He says, "It’s a demanding way of life, out here on the road. I just try to be mentally and physically in the best shape possible… I love the way I feel when I’m done (at the gym). I know I’ve accomplished something and I’m in a good mood the rest of the day because of it.

Pop star BEYONCE has confirmed she’ll lead the cast in CLINT EASTWOOD’s A STAR IS BORN remake.
The Halo hitmaker, who previously starred in Dreamgirls and Austin Powers: Gold Member, has been linked to the leading lady role for months and now she has ended the speculation by revealing she’ll follow in the footsteps of Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand for a fourth remake of the classic movie.

SHIA LABEOUF was thrilled to meet astronaut BUZZ ALDRIN on the red carpet at the TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON premiere - until he realised the spaceman had no idea who he was.
Aldrin has a cameo in the blockbuster, but the actor wasn’t on set the day he showed up and he didn’t meet the second man on the moon face-to-face until the premiere.
He says, "I’m standing in front of this 80ft poster and I’m on the poster and I go up to him and I’m really shy and I go, ‘Hey, Mr. Aldrin, it’s nice to meet you,’ and he goes, ‘Who are you son?’ And he wouldn’t, like, engage me right away. The publicist worked it out." But LaBeouf was so nervous to meet the astronaut, he fears he let himself down with bad questions: "I asked him, like, two or three questions and none of them were interesting. I was mad (really) embarrassed."

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON star ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY has poked fun at co-star SHIA LABEOUF’s on-set MEGAN FOX romance by joking about how irresistible the actor is.
LaBeouf confessed to hooking up with Fox on the set of the second Transformers film in a recent Details magazine interview and the actress’ rep has since confirmed there were sparks between the two stars.

PRINCE ALBERT of Monaco married his fiancee CHARLENE WITTSTOCK in a civil ceremony at the principality’s royal palace on Friday (01Jul11).
The couple wed in front of family, friends, and famous guests reportedly including supermodel Naomi Campbell, former James Bond star Sir Roger Moore, and designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Icelandic singer BJORK opened her world tour on Thursday (30Jun11) by unveiling a series of quirky multi-media designs inspired by award-winning naturalist SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH.
The pop star performed the first date of her Biophilia trek at the Campfield Market Hall in Manchester, England, as part of the Manchester International Festival.
The concert saw Bjork show off an array of stunning features, including a 24-piece female choir and nature-themed art installations, inspired by wildlife documentary-maker Attenborough.
The visuals included footage of zombie snails, and film of huge worms feasting on a seal carcass at the bottom of the Antarctic, which were displayed as Bjork sang tracks from her new album.
She also unveiled a number of custom-made instruments, including a ’sharpsichord’ - a large cylinder with protruding pins - and a cross between a piano and a glockenspiel.
The star has a three-week residency at the venue during the festival before she takes the show across the globe.

Pregnant singer JEWEL has donated thousands of nursing bras to charity to help new mothers care for their babies.
The musician and her husband, rodeo star Ty Murray, are expecting their first child later this year (11).
She decided to help other families cope with parenthood by teaming up with Bravado! Designs to hand over bras and tank tops to charity Baby Buggy.
The garments will now be distributed to needy mothers in Dallas, Texas and New York.

Veteran rocker ROGER DALTREY was moved to tears when he read a wartime letter from his grandfather bravely describing life on the battlefield as "wonderful".
The Who frontman perused a dispatch from his soldier grandad and became emotional when he realised his ancestor was deliberately hiding the hellish conditions in the trenches of World War I to prevent worrying his family.
Daltrey tells Uncut magazine, "All my family talked about was the fun they had in the war, but little signs would come out that it wasn’t fun at all. When you go back through our family, my grandad was in the First World War.
"I saw a letter from him. He was at one of the big battles - might have been the Somme (in France) - and he’s writing home. You wouldn’t believe what he’s writing. ‘It’s wonderful here. The sun is shining. The birds are singing.’ You know damn well well it was exactly the opposite. He was in hell. He was just trying to send some hope back to his loved ones. I cried when I read that."

Rockers from legendary bands PEARL JAM, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, and THE STROKES are teaming up to record an album to raise money for a homeless charity.
The musicians will be joined by Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst, Modest Mouse and Gang Of Four’s Dave Allen on the three-disc record, Live From Nowhere Near You: Volume Two.
Queens of the Stone Age star Josh Homme is teaming up with The Strokes’ singer Julian Casablancas and drummer Fab Moretti, as well as Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, to record a cover version of Marvin Gaye’s Mercy Mercy Me for the album.
All proceeds will go to U.K. charity Outside In, which aids homeless youths.
The record is due for release this summer (11).

A rare CHARLIE CHAPLIN movie containing early attempts at animation has failed to sell at auction.
The footage from 1916, titled Charlie Chaplin in Zepped, went under the hammer at Bonhams in London earlier this week (beg27Jun11) and was expected to fetch more than $160,000 (£100,000).
But the seven-minute tape - the only known surviving copy of the film - failed to attract a high enough bid.
A Bonhams spokeswoman tells the BBC, "Obviously we’re disappointed the film didn’t sell, but it’s an unusual item and the nature of auctions means these things are always unpredictable."

TWILIGHT star KRISTEN STEWART has shown off her generous side by donating a pair of signed shoes to charity.
The actress scrawled her autograph on a pair of black sneakers and handed the footwear to charity Shoe Revolt to help victims of human trafficking.
The organisation sells shoes online to raise funds to fight the cause.
A statement from the charity reads, "Shoe Revolt is incredibly thankful for Kristen Stewart’s donation of a pair of black Keds. Her donations will be used to raise money for shelters and to create awareness about this issue in the teen community."
