LOPEZ WINS RIGHT TO PRIVATE COURT HEARING OVER VIDEO FOOTAGE BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:08 pm

JENNIFER LOPEZ has won the latest round in a video footage battle with her ex-husband after a judge ruled the case will be heard in a private court.
The singer/actress’ first husband Ojani Noa is planning to use 11 hours of personal footage to detail the pair’s relationship in his mockumentary How I Married Jennifer Lopez: the J.Lo and Ojani Noa Story.
Lopez’s lawyers are fighting to keep the intimate honeymoon shots of the superstar under wraps and in June (11), successfully managed to prevent Noa’s girlfriend from selling clips of the sexy home videos to Internet porn sites.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge made the ruling after deciding to keep a restraining order in place, declaring that the footage cannot be released without the star’s authority.
And Lopez’s legal team landed another small victory on Friday (29Jul11), when a judge declared that the case should be handled in arbitration, rather than through a public court.

MIRREN IGNORES PROTESTERS’ PLEAS TO PULL OUT OF SPECTOR MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:05 pm

DAME HELEN MIRREN has ignored calls to drop out of an upcoming biopic about disgraced music mogul PHIL SPECTOR.
The veteran British actress prompted outrage among friends of Spector’s victim, murdered actress Lana Clarkson, after signing up to play the famed producer’s attorney, Linda Kenny Braden. She stepped in to replace an injured Bette Midler in the role.
The Friends of Lana Clarkson campaigners sent a letter to warn Mirren she faces "serious consequences" if she doesn’t quit the controversial film, which they fear will portray Spector in a sympathetic light.
The group’s spokesperson, Edward Lozzi, tells Britain’s Mail on Sunday, "We have great respect for Helen Mirren. What we hope is that when she reads this script and sees Lana is being trashed, she will speak up and say, ‘This is not right.’ "Helen Mirren probably didn’t know about The Friends of Lana Clarkson when she agreed to take the role - it would have been just another job to her. But now that she is aware, we ask her to examine her conscience." A representative confirms that The Queen star has received the letter but refuses to walk away from the project.
The spokesperson explains, "She’s in the movie. She’s not dropping out. That’s all she’s saying." Al Pacino has begun filming his role as Spector in the HBO movie, which will chronicle the record producer’s first trial for the 2003 shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at his home. The case resulted in a mistrial in 2007, but in 2009, a second trial ended with a conviction and a 19-year prison sentence for Spector.

WINEHOUSE’S BACKING SINGERS PLANNING TRIBUTE TRACKS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:32 pm

AMY WINEHOUSE’s backing singers are recording new music in the tragic star’s memory following her death last week (ends24Jul11).
The Back to Black hitmaker was found dead at her London home on Saturday (23Jul11), although the cause of her passing is still a mystery after an initial post mortem examination on Monday (25Jul11) proved inconclusive.
Two of her backing singers, brothers Heshima and Zalon Thompson, were among the mourners in Winehouse’s street following the tragic news - and now they’ve revealed they’re planning a musical tribute to their pal.
Heshima Thompson tells the BBC, "Amy was just so real, she was so honest and she was so open. You didn’t really have to wonder what she was thinking - you pretty much knew.
"With most backing singers you stand right at the back and you sing. She had us right at the front, she would come and stand right next to us. She would encourage us to sing solos." Zalon Thompson adds, "She didn’t like the glitz and glam - she hated it. So many people wanted to work with her and she wasn’t about that, she wasn’t about the money, she was pure about music."

BECKHAM APPEALS FOR AFRICA AID

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:29 pm

New dad DAVID BECKHAM is urging fans to donate to UNICEF’s Africa drought and famine fund, insisting he "cannot begin to think" about the effect of the "horrific" crisis.
The soccer superstar is a Goodwill Ambassador for the organisation and he’s been left shocked by the humanitarian crisis hitting the Horn of Africa, which includes countries such as Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
Millions of residents are fleeing to find refuge in other areas and those left behind are struggling to find food as crops and cattle have died in the drought.
Beckham - a dad of four, including new baby daughter Harper, who was born earlier this month (Jul11) - has now penned a passionate plea for Britain’s Daily Mirror, encouraging readers to hand over just $8 (£5) to UNICEF’s campaign.
He writes, "The children of Somalia and East Africa are in the middle of an unthinkable food crisis. Almost two million children in Somalia alone have been going to bed hungry for many, many weeks. Every six minutes a child in south Somalia is dying from hunger. Just think about that. And many more will die in the coming weeks unless you and I do something to help.
"I never want to see Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz or Harper go to bed without a meal. I cannot begin to think what it is like for those children, with not even a grain of rice in their stomachs, going to bed hungry day after day, week after week. They need our help. They need our attention. They need our action.
"The situation is grim and millions of children are in desperate condition. Their families have been tipped over the edge, their animals are dead, and they have nothing left to live on. Those who are strong enough are walking miles in search of help. Those who aren’t are staying in their villages, desperately hoping that help reaches them in time." And Beckham, who has visited Sierra Leone and South Africa in his UNICEF role, admits the cause is close to his heart: "In the past few weeks I have experienced the incredible happiness that comes from being a father again - for the fourth time! And I know that there is nothing I wouldn’t do for my children. But for those families in Somalia, facing a perilous and uncertain future, they need your thoughts too. And they need you to act."

COPS PROBE LEE AND MICHAELS’ TRIP TO RANGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

Police have launched a probe after rockers TOMMY LEE and BRET MICHAELS were pictured posing with guns at a shooting range.
Motley Crue drummer Lee and Poison frontman Michaels took time out from their joint headline tour to visit a range in North Carolina earlier this month (Jul11).
But cops are now investigating because the state’s law bans anyone who has a felony conviction from purchasing, owning, or controlling a firearm.
In 1998 Lee was jailed for four months after pleading no contest to kicking Pamela Anderson.
The police probe was launched after bosses at local TV station WSOCTV contacted authorities and informed them of the rockers’ trip to the shooting range.
A representative for the station says, "The sheriff and local police chiefs didn’t know about it until we brought it to their attention. It could be illegal if any of those men have criminal records that prohibits them from using guns."
