Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

And it wasn’t the only moment of drama during the concert - the power onstage failed at the start of his track Irish Blood, English Heart and the vegetarian singer jokingly blamed meat-loving chef Jamie Oliver for the blackout.

DALTREY: ‘I WAS A MISERABLE TOURMATE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:25 am

THE WHO star ROGER DALTREY has confessed he’s no fun to be around on tour - because he often thinks his performances are terrible.
In a recent interview with Intelligent Life magazine, his bandmate Pete Townshend revealed Daltrey was "miserable as sin" on The Who’s last tour, adding, "He seems to be so unhappy, he seems to be so unfulfilled." And Daltrey is refusing to dispute his pal’s overview, admitting he lets the stresses and strains of mammoth tours get to him.
The singer tells Rolling Stone, "I felt the pressure. I was having terrible trouble hearing what I was singing and it did get to me. In fact, I’ve been suffering for quite a few of the previous tours. I never understood that if you sweat as much as I used to every night, you drain your body of salts. So I got very, very, seriously ill. I got to the stage where I was almost hospitalised with serious problems." But he insists future tours will be better: "I’m working with a completely new sound system. For the last year I’ve been able to hear myself onstage, and singing is so much easier. I don’t over-sing anymore, which I used to suffer from terribly because I couldn’t hear myself."

BERRY STATUE APPROVED DESPITE LOCAL OUTCRY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:25 am

A larger-than-life statue of CHUCK BERRY, which caused a storm of opposition from locals in the legend’s hometown, has been approved by officials.
A group of activists attempted to halt the planned installation of the memorial outside the Blueberry Hill venue in St. Louis, Missouri next month (Jul11), forcing local authorities to consider scrapping the idea.
A meeting was held in the town on Monday (27Jun11), and, despite having more than 100 signatures on a petition against the move, officials at the University City Council rejected the pleas and approved the tribute.
The installation, which will stand eight-feet (2.4 metres) tall and depicts a young Berry playing his guitar, will be installed later this month (Jun11) and will be officially opened on 29 July (11).
The initial outcry from residents stemmed from the Johnny B. Goode singer’s time behind bars for his 1962 conviction for illegally transporting a teenage native American prostitute across state lines so she could work at his nightclub, Berry’s Bandstand.

MCGREGOR WENT TO WORK IN PAL’S RESTAURANT TO RESEARCH NEW CHEF ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:22 am

EWAN MCGREGOR worked in the kitchen of pal GUY COWAN’s Glasgow, Scotland restaurant to prepare to play a chef in new movie PERFECT SENSE.
Cowan used to cook for the movie star on film sets and they became pals, so when McGregor had to master the kitchen arts for a new film role, he turned to the master cook for help.
The actor says, "He fed me many times on set and then he started his own restaurant called Guy’s… It’s a really successful and really good restaurant. Fantastic atmosphere, but a tiny kitchen.
"I worked for a few weeks cooking with him, so I learned a lot." But it wasn’t a completely new experience for McGregor: "I used to work in kitchens quite a lot when I was a kid. I used to be a dishwasher and do some salads and stuff.
"(At Guy’s) I just ended up helping out… I was moving dishes around and making sure that everyone’s workspace was clear." Cowan also made sure his famous kitchen boy tasted the harsh realities of cooking in a busy kitchen towards the end of McGregor’s trial period.
The actor tells Angeleno magazine, "I ended up whipping up all that food. I didn’t really know what I was doing and he just kept shouting over instructions as he was doing something else. I realised that it was game on and we weren’t f**king around. This was food that was going out to real people’s tables. I think I did all right. I didn’t have any disasters." He also worked behind the scenes at a high-end restaurant in the Highlands, where the chef was a "bully".
The actor recalls, "It was interesting to see the status of the chef and how he can be quite nasty - a little bit of an a**hole… I didn’t want my chef to be a bully."
