COWELL’S REP BRANDS TALENT SHOW CLAIMS ‘RIDICULOUS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:22 pm

SIMON COWELL’s public relations manager has waded into the controversy over hit TV show BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT as debate continues to rage over sensational claims made in an anonymous online letter.
The show hit headlines in Britain this week (beg30May11) following the publication of an unsubstantiated internet blog - claimed to have been written by an unnamed employee of Sony Music - which took aim at Cowell’s show and suggested one of the finalists, 12-year-old Ronan Parke, was known to TV bosses before the series kicked off.
A representative for Cowell’s Syco firm - a subsidiary of Sony - branded the allegations "unfounded" and lodged an official complaint with police.
The story is still riding high in the headlines as the series finale looms on Saturday (04Jun11) and Cowell’s spokesman Max Clifford has now spoken out to defend the show’s judging panel, which includes David Hasselhoff and comedian Michael McIntyre.
Clifford says, "I spoke to Simon last night and he had called the judges who laughed off these claims. It is ridiculous to suggest a respected comedian like Michael McIntyre would conspire to do something like this. And do you think Simon could tell David Hasselhoff who to vote for? It’s absurd…" Britain’s The X Factor judge Louis Walsh has also waded into the debate as he was on the Britain’s Got Talent panel filling in for Cowell back in February (11) when Parke auditioned, and the music manager is adamant the slurs are not true.
He says, "The allegations are totally untrue… I never saw the kid before, I just picked the kid because he was the best on the day… I’ve worked with Simon for eight years and he is totally by the book. He would never even try anything like this." Parke himself has also spoken out about the drama ahead of Saturday’s final, insisting he has never even met Cowell before: "I have not been coached by anyone to do with Simon. I have never met Simon in my life. I’d love to, but I never have. I have been coached by a singing teacher in (English hometown) Norwich that we pay for. No one’s paid for our clothes or anything. It’s really silly."

DALLAS legend LARRY HAGMAN and his co-star LINDA GRAY arrived in style at the opening of the actor’s upcoming memorabilia sale on Thursday (02Jun11) by riding through Beverly Hills on horseback.
The TV villain, famed for his portrayal of sleazy oil tycoon J.R. Ewing, is auctioning off mementos he has collected over the years following the sale of his ranch in Ojai, California.
