BEYONCE CRIPPLED BY SHYNESS OFFSTAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

R&B superstar BEYONCE struggles to overcome crippling bouts of shyness when she’s not onstage and often wishes she could simply "disappear" when she’s in a room full of people.
The Crazy In Love hitmaker is never comfortable as the centre of attention unless she’s in performance mode, and she admits large social gatherings are a big challenge for her.
She tells Dazed & Confused magazine, "I get really uncomfortable when I’m not performing on the stage or on a photo shoot and have too many people looking at me, expecting a performance. It makes me kind of shut down and become shy.
"I’m better at one-on-one conversations. I do become shy and a bit intimidated when it’s a large group of people; I definitely retreat. At a big dinner I just hope that no one expects anything from me. I wish I’d disappear."

BONO: ‘SPIDER-MAN IS 90 PER CENT PERFECT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

U2 stars BONO and THE EDGE have revealed their Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK is only 90 per cent finished as the curtain rises on the much-maligned spectacular.
The show closed in March (11) following a series of problems and producers have revamped the music and storyline and addressed safety concerns. In the process, they parted ways with director Julie Taymor.
And the rockers are glad the production is back onstage - even though it’s not quite perfect yet.
Bono says, "We’re 10 per cent away. The next few months we’ll have gotten it to a place where Edge and myself will stop criticising." And his bandmate adds, "We’re so close to being able to sign off on it." The musical will officially open on Broadway on Tuesday night (14Jun11) after multiple stalled starts.

PRODUCERS KEPT WAYNE’S COWBOY ROOTS A SECRET FROM FILM CAST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:40 am

The producers and director of new sci-fi western COWBOYS & ALIENS kept star BRENDAN WAYNE’s famous family ties from the rest of the cast and crew for fear of turning JOHN WAYNE’s grandson into a novelty on set.
The actor plays Keith Carradine’s sheriff’s deputy in the Jon Favreau film, but no one knew of his links to The Duke until he brought it up.
Wayne tells Cowboys & Indians magazine, "They didn’t make a big deal about it… I realised that they’d sort of kept it a secret because they wanted me to have my own identity on the set.
"They wanted to be sure everyone just knew me as Brendan and I thought that was really thoughtful and respectful of them." And Wayne insists his grandfather would have approved of the quirky western, in which Carradine, himself, Daniel Craig and bad guy Harrison Ford team up to battle aliens in the Wild West.
He adds, "He was always up for a challenge, so I would imagine he would have thought it was cool… I think he would have rolled his eyes at first, but then, based on what I’ve seen, he would have been really proud of it as a western."

GOODWIN: ‘WEIGHT WATCHERS BACKLASH WAS A SHOCK’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:37 am

GINNIFER GOODWIN was stunned by the backlash she received after opening up about her lifelong dedication to diet company Weight Watchers, insisting she "could not believe" how harsh the criticism was.
The Walk The Line star revealed last month (May11) that she was first introduced to the diet plan as a child, when her parents feared she was on the verge of becoming overweight.
The healthy eating programme helped Goodwin to slim down as she developed into a teenager and she has been an avid calorie-counter ever since.
But Goodwin found herself under attack for being a bad role model, with critics accusing the actress of suffering from "body issues" and speculating she had an eating disorder - allegations she denied.
She admits the negative reaction came as a shock - because she wanted to show others struggling with their weight that it was fine to seek help with their diets.
Goodwin tells Glamour magazine, "I’d hoped that in sharing my Weight Watchers story, I’d be giving permission to women who are afraid to join a programme or go to meetings.
"I think the noblest thing you can do is to ask for help. And I was hoping to be an example, because we can’t all look like the actresses and models you see on the covers of magazines - who aren’t doing it healthfully anyway, I promise you. But I could not believe the backlash.
"People accused me of having body issues, an eating disorder. But most people probably don’t know what Weight Watchers is - it’s really about good eating habits."

JUDGE URGES FULTON TO REACH SETTLEMENT WITH CAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:19 pm

A judge has urged NICOLAS CAGE’s ex-girlfriend CHRISTINA FULTON to reach an out-of-court settlement with the actor in a dispute over her Los Angeles home.
Fulton filed a $13 million (£8.1 million) lawsuit against the actor in 2009, claiming Cage bought her a home but failed to officially transfer the property into her name, preventing Fulton from selling off the house.
Cage’s lawyer, Marty Singer, previously insisted, "All of these claims are long-time barred by the statute of limitations and are baseless… We expect this lawsuit to be promptly thrown out." And on Tuesday (14Jun11) Superior Court Judge Teresa Gordon-Sanchez ruled that Fulton couldn’t sue Cage for breaching an oral contract and should instead consider reaching an agreement before trial as it would be the "best option for everyone involved".
The National Treasure star and Fulton were both present for the courthouse meeting, according to the Associated Press.

RAP MOGUL WILLIAMS LOSES $2 MILLION ON NBA FINALS BET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:19 pm

Hip-hop mogul BRYAN ‘BABY’ WILLIAMS is $2 million (£1.25 million) poorer after betting on the wrong basketball team to win the NBA championship.
The rapper, also known as Birdman, was confident superstar athletes LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh would take the Florida team to victory and placed a high-stakes bet on the Heat triumphing over the Dallas Mavericks in the finals.
During Sunday’s (12Jun11) final, which the home side had to win, Williams remained hopeful, writing on his Twitter.com page, "Don’t panic real n**gaz know tha rules stay focus (sic). miami heat… 2million gone turn 2 (sic) 4m (million dollars)." But the Heat lost and the visiting Mavericks lifted the NBA trophy, leaving Williams millions out of pocket.
However, he refused to sulk over the loss and helped the Mavericks celebrate their win in Miami by joining the players and his protege Lil Wayne at the LIV nightclub for a big party.
Williams is known for his high stakes bets - he became $1 million (£625,000) richer in February (11) when he bet on the Green Bay Packers beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in American football’s Superbowl.
His latest loss won’t make too much of a dent in Williams’ wallet - Forbes magazine recently ranked him among the top five wealthiest hip-hop artists of the year (11).

TAYMOR TO ATTEND SPIDER-MAN OPENING NIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:16 pm

Moviemaker JULIE TAYMOR has confirmed she will be attending the opening night of beleaguered Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK on Tuesday (14Jun11), despite the fact she’s battling with the show’s producers over compensation fees.
Taymor helped develop the troubled show but quit as director in March (11) after producers opted to pull the musical offstage and rework the plot and music and address ongoing safety concerns, following a series of accidents to cast members.
Last week (ends10Jun11), officials at the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society filed an arbitration claim against producers on Taymor’s behalf after she alleged she had not received full compensation for helping to create the $70 million (£43.75 million) spectacular.
But the director isn’t letting the legal spat keep her from opening night.
A spokesman for Taymor says, "She is so proud of the cast, crew, musicians and creatives with whom she worked on this amazing project for so many years, and she looks forward to sharing in tonight’s celebration." Taymor has been replaced by Phil McKinley.

WAYANS: ‘MORGAN SAYS DUMB STUFF’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:13 pm

Funnyman MARLON WAYANS has become the latest comic to attack TRACY MORGAN for homophobic remarks he made during a show in Nashville, Tennessee earlier this month (Jun11).
The White Chicks star, who teamed up with Morgan in 2006 film Little Man, has condemned the remorseful comedian, urging him to show better judgment when performing stand-up shows.
Wayans says, "He has the right to say what he says, but he has to be a little more responsible and write a little bit, and think a little more before he does it next time.
"Tracy needs to work on his material… Tracy’s a cool dude. I just think he says dumb stuff." But Wayans insists comics have been trying out unsavoury gags at clubs for years - and it’s fans with camera phones that have turned bad jokes into headline-grabbing scandals.
He adds, "I don’t like people having cameras in the comedy clubs, because you’re just throwing thoughts out there, and that’s the creative process. You’re going to offend some people as you’re finding the lines. Now, he didn’t find a line, he found a cliff. But unfortunately, that happens." Morgan has since apologised publicly for his homophobic remarks and is planning to return to Nashville next week (beg20Jun11) to personally beg the forgiveness of fans he offended.
