ROSE AND AZOFF SETTLE LEGAL WRANGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:13 pm

Rocker AXL ROSE has settled a legal battle with former GUNS N’ ROSES manager IRVING AZOFF over breach of contract allegations.
Azoff sued the Guns N’ Roses frontman in March, 2010, accusing the singer of reneging on an agreement to hand him a slice of profits from a big money concert tour.
Rose hit back with a countersuit, alleging Azoff attempted to sabotage his career after he refused to reunite with the band’s original members, including Slash and Duff McKagan. He demanded more than $5 million (£3.13 million) in damages for breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of contract.
But the two warring parties have now reached a deal to prevent the case from going to trial.
Attorneys for both sides appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (14Jun11) to inform a judge of the settlement, with Azoff’s lawyer, Howard King, stating, "They (lawsuits) were settled to the mutual satisfaction of the parties." The terms of the agreement have not been revealed, although legal papers filed by Rose’s lawyers state that the deal would involve "a comprehensive touring agreement, in which Guns ‘N Roses would perform at various… venues".

O’NEAL: ‘TATUM ABANDONED ME OVER FARRAH ROMANCE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:13 pm

Actor RYAN O’NEAL refuses to accept his relationship with his daughter TATUM fell apart because he abandoned her to start a romance with FARRAH FAWCETT - because he feels she disowned her dad.
The once-estranged father and daughter have attempted to work through their problems for a new reality TV show, Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals, which begins later this month (Jun11), but both still have opposing viewpoints on why their relationship went bad.
Tatum insists she felt abandoned when her dad went to live with Fawcett, while the movie veteran claims his daughter wanted nothing to do with him.
He says, "From Tatum’s standpoint, I had lost interest in my family and I had found a new interest in my life, and that appalled her. So she fled.
"I never would have imagined, I just adored her, that she’d leave me." And in an emotionally-charged interview with U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, O’Neal admits he would have given up Fawcett if he knew that the romance would lead to a lengthy estrangement with his daughter.
Asked if he would have chosen Tatum over Farrah, the actor says, "That’s not a fair question, that’s a terrible question - but I would." By the time he realised his daughter no longer wanted anything to do with him, it was too late: "I didn’t know where she was, I wish I did."

Folk legend BOB DYLAN has been denied a top accolade in his favourite London neighbourhood after officials decided he doesn’t qualify for the honour.
The rocker was recently nominated for the Freedom Of Haringey to mark his recent 70th birthday and his link to the borough, which he fell in love with in the 1980s. He has frequently been spotted there with guitarist Dave Stewart and owns a home in the area’s Crouch End.
It was hoped Dylan could accept the honour while onstage during his headlining set at the London Feis Festival in Finsbury Park this weekend (18-19Jun11) but authorities have turned down the request.
A spokesperson for the council explains, "We are grateful for (the) suggestion, but the Freedom of the Borough is usually reserved for individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to life in the borough."

CAGE AND FULTON REACH SETTLEMENT OVER HOUSE LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:28 am

NICOLAS CAGE and his ex-girlfriend CHRISTINA FULTON have reached a settlement in their long-running dispute over her Los Angeles home.
Fulton hit Cage with a $13 million (£8.1 million) lawsuit in 2009, accusing him of failing to properly transfer a property he gave her, thereby preventing the actress from selling it.
The former couple came face-to-face in a courthouse on Tuesday (14Jun11) as Superior Court Judge Teresa Gordon-Sanchez urged them to reach an agreement before trial.
The National Treasure star and his ex appear to have taken the advice and negotiated a settlement to the satisfaction of both parties, reports TMZ.com.
The terms of the agreement have been kept confidential.
But the actor’s day in court was not without drama - Fulton told reporters she plans to seek a conservatorship for the former couple’s troubled son Weston after he was hospitalised and underwent a mental evaluation last week (07Jun11).
Cage hit back by insisting, "I hope Ms. Fulton will come to her senses one day and get some help… Weston is a man. I have complete faith he will weather this well."

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE toned up for his racy new movie FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS by cutting out beer.
The pop star-turned-actor decided he wanted to look ripped when stripping off in the film for sex scenes with Mila Kunis.
He tells Playboy magazine, "I did go on a diet for that movie, which mostly came down to not drinking as much beer. And you know, beer is good, so that was hard.
"I’m pretty thin anyway, but I didn’t want to look like a meathead. I was like, ‘I’m about to be 30, and I’m going to be naked on camera. If I’m going to do this, I’m going to train pretty hard.’ "In the end, I just did more cardio, and I pumped up the stuff I already do throughout the year, such as playing sports. I like basketball and golf and snowboarding, and I do them pretty f**king intensely."

MORRISSEY’S SCOTTISH TOUR GOES MEAT-FREE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:22 am

Vegetarian rocker MORRISSEY has successfully banned meat from his upcoming tour of Scotland after reportedly threatening to boycott any venue serving animal products.
The staunch animal activist recently hit headlines when organisers of the Lokerse Feesten music festival in Belgium agreed to ban the sale of burgers and sausages on the day of Morrissey’s headlining performance in a bid to keep their star act happy.
Now bosses at a number of venues in Scotland have followed suit by agreeing to remove meat from the menu for Morrissey’s gigs.
The former The Smiths star will play at Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday (15Jun11) and Ben Jeffries, director of marketing and communications for the company which owns the venue, has revealed the decision was made to make Morrissey feel "comfortable".
He tells Scotsman.com, "Morrissey has a life-long commitment to animal rights and vegetarianism so, understandably, does not like the smell of cooking meat when preparing for or, indeed, performing a gig. We are delighted to be welcoming this fantastic artist to Perth and, as with all our artists… (we) will do the best we can to make him feel right at home and comfortable." The Ironworks venue in Inverness has also agreed to the star’s demands - bosses have banned the sale of meat to gig-goers, and also forbid any staff members from eating animal-based foods on the day of Friday’s (17Jun11) gig.
A spokesman for the Ironworks says, "We were contacted by his promoters who made us aware that no staff can consume meat on the day of his performance on Friday. We’ve made our staff aware of that, and Morrissey’s been quite consistent in those views all throughout his career, so we will obviously respect them." Bosses of the Queen’s Hall in Dunoon have also declared that "no meat" will be cooked at the venue.

BASSHUNTER CLEARED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:22 am

Swedish DJ BASSHUNTER has been cleared of allegations he sexually assaulted two women after a concert.
The Now You’re Gone hitmaker - real name Jonas Altberg - was accused of attacking two teenage girls at a nightclub in Kirkcaldy, Scotland last December (10). They claimed he had grabbed them and thrust their heads towards his groin, while one alleged he had pulled up her dress and slapped her butt.
Altberg denied two charges of sexual assault in January (11) and was acquitted at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday (14Jun11).
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry ruled the evidence from the two women was "riddled with inconsistencies and improbabilities", adding, "I consider in this case the witnesses were neither credible nor reliable… They ignored good advice given to them to contact police and instead contacted a newspaper before giving statements."

CRITICS SLAY SPIDER-MAN MUSICAL AFTER OFFICIAL OPENING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:19 am

Broadway’s beleaguered musical SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK has officially flopped after failing to impress critics on its opening night.
Producers temporarily shut down the show in March (11) to overhaul the music and storyline and address safety concerns, following troublesome previews.
The curtain went up on the newly revamped show on Tuesday (14Jun11) - attracting A-listers including Matt Damon, Robert De Niro and Liam Neeson - but the critics were far from complimentary in their reviews.
Ben Brantley of the New York Times rants: "(The show) has become a straightforward children’s entertainment with a mildly suspenseful story, two-dimensional characters, unapologetically bad jokes and the kind of melodious rock tunes that those under 12 might be familiar with from listening to their parents’ salad-day favourites of the 1980s and ’90s." The Wall Street Journal’s Terry Teachout takes aim at U2 rockers Bono and The Edge, who wrote the show’s musical numbers, insisting, "The score sounds like a double album of B-sides. Not only are the songs forgettable, but they never succeed in generating any dramatic momentum - all they do is get louder." Charles Spencer, writing for Britain’s Daily Telegraph, adds, "The show never soars into greatness, or leaves the audience in a state of disbelieving wonder. Indeed, despite all the time and money that has have been lavished on it, Spidey actually turns out to be a bit of a bore." Bono, who attended the opening with his wife Ali Hewson, had predicted bad reviews, admitting he is still "10 per cent away" from being happy with the $75 million (£47 million) musical.

TIMBERLAKE: ‘I WAS STONED ON PUNK’D’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE gave up marijuana after he was PUNK’D on TV by ASHTON KUTCHER - because he was so stoned when the practical joke caught him out.
The pop star was one of Kutcher’s first celebrity victims on the prank show and he now freely admits he was high when the actor and his team pretended to be government agents and seized all his property because of unpaid income taxes.
Timberlake tells the new issue of Playboy magazine he still uses pot to unwind but his Punk’d experience prompted him to quit for a while.
He explains, "I actually stopped smoking pot for nine to 10 months after that. I was so stoned. If you ask my friends, if they’re honest they would probably say that’s the only way to get me as dizzy as I was.
"What you didn’t see from the episode, because it was a 45-minute affair cut down to 10 minutes, was me showing up and being like, ‘What the f**k are you people doing on my property? Get the f**k off my property! Get the f**k out of here!’ Then they started rattling off my parents’ address, and I was like, ‘Holy s**t. Hold on a second.’ "I mean, everybody was got good on that show - me probably the best."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

NICOLAS CAGE has blasted his ex CHRISTINA FULTON for attempting to obtain a conservatorship over their troubled son WESTON, insisting she’s the one who should "get some help".
The former couple came face-to-face in court on Tuesday (14Jun11) in an attempt to settle a $13 million (£8.1 million) property lawsuit.
Fulton told reporters at the courthouse she is taking legal action to oversee Weston after he was hospitalised and underwent a mental evaluation last week (07Jun11) after a public brawl with his fitness trainer.
