OWEN WILSON leaves young CARS fans perplexed when he’s introduced to them as LIGHTNING MCQUEEN by eager parents - because he looks nothing like the race car.
The movie star admits he has to "audition" for young movie fans - and even then they’re not convinced he is who their parents say he is.
He explains, "They don’t get it… I’m like ‘Ka-Chow!’ and then the kid’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, he’s doing like Lightning McQueen does’. They never really get it. It’s odd.
"We had the premiere for Cars 2 and a family brings their kid over: ‘He’s such a big Lightning McQueen fan, can we get a picture…?’ The kid starts to cry… he’s afraid of leaving his parents and I’m left kind of like I don’t know what I’m doing.
"Then the dad had to come into the picture and then the kid was clinging to his father and I think we managed to coax a smile out of him."

Colombian singer SHAKIRA met with world leaders in Israel on Tuesday (21Jun11) to discuss the need for free, quality education for all children.
The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador toured the Max Payne Hand In Hand School for Bilingual Education in Jerusalem, where every class is taught teachers of Jewish and Palestinian descent - to show her support for better learning programmes.
She says, “I’m convinced, as many people are, that investing in education is the best strategy for peace and global stability.
"My visit to Max Payne school today here in Jerusalem - an inspirational school where students learn together, across all divides, speaking both Arabic and Hebrew, learning and playing together without difference - only reminded me, once again, that the most crucial decisions we can make for a better tomorrow concern how to raise and educate our children." The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker is in the Middle East for the Israeli Presidential Conference in Jerusalem, where she will be a featured speaker at the three-day Facing Tomorrow 2011 event.
Shakira has been working to improve education and nutrition for kids from impoverished areas in Colombia, South Africa and Haiti via her Barefoot Foundation.
She will take part in the Conference’s opening discussion, entitled My Recipe for a Better Tomorrow, on Tuesday (21Jun11), alongside a panel which also includes Jewish comedienne Sarah Silverman.
The Israeli Presidential Conference is expected to draw more than 3,500 attendees from the worlds of science, culture, economics, politics, education and philanthropy.

GEORGE CLOONEY’s new movie THE IDES OF MARCH is set to open the Venice Film Festival in Italy in August (11).
The film, based on the Beau Willimon play Faragut North, has been a passion project of Clooney’s for over four years.
The project chronicles Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential race and stars Clooney as a politician caught up in a scandal.
Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood are all featured in the film, which Clooney has also directed.

Actress CAMERON DIAZ recreated her romantic popcorn moment with boyfriend ALEX RODRIGUEZ on late-night TV in America on Monday (20Jun11) when she fed chat show host DAVID LETTERMAN the snack.
The Charlie’s Angels star was caught on camera lovingly putting popcorn in the New York Yankees baseball slugger’s mouth at the Super Bowl earlier this year (Feb11) - and she admits she was stunned by the fuss the harmless moment caused.
Appearing as a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday (20Jun11), she recalled the popcorn pap shot and briefly let her true feelings for her sportsman beau show.
She told the host, "We were watching the game and I was eating and it was getting down to the last couple of pieces of popcorn and all of the sudden I see a hand coming in. Anybody who knows me does not put their hand in my food, especially when it’s close to my mouth.
"I said, ‘What are you (doing)? That’s mine!’ And then I went, ‘You know what, I love you too much; I’m going to give it to you. You deserve it.’ "It was the only piece of popcorn that I even put near his face and they (photographers) happen to have the camera on, right when I did it.
"Ten minutes later we’re blowing up on our BlackBerries. We started laughing so hard, like, are you kidding me?" Diaz then reenacted the tender moment by feeding Letterman popcorn from a bucket he produced from behind his desk.
Asked about her feelings for Rodriguez, Diaz responded, "He’s pretty awesome."

BILLY RAY CYRUS opened up his Tennessee home to 60 military families to give them a barbecue to remember.
The Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker staged the get together last year (10) at his Singing Hills farm in Franklin for an episode of his new TV show.
He says, "This was kind of our way of saying thank you to the troops and the men and women for their sacrifice. Really, I just wanted to show ‘em a good time.
"We did have a barbecue, it was a pork barbecue with chicken and watermelon. It was just a great summer picnic.
"The farm where I live is called Singing Hills and it’s a very personal part of my life and I just wanted to share it with the troops." Cyrus admits his new TLC network show, Homecoming, in which he visits U.S. troops and their families across the world, has left him "humbled".

ASHLEE SIMPSON has been photographed kissing actor VINCENT PIAZZA, sparking rumours of a blossoming new romance.
Simpson and estranged husband rocker Pete Wentz filed for divorce in February (11) but family photos of the couple laughing and holding hands surfaced a month later (Mar11), prompting rumours of a reconciliation.
However, the Pieces of Me hitmaker was snapped kissing and walking arm-in-arm with Boardwalk Empire star Piazza in New York City last week (begs13Jun11), marking the first time Simpson has stepped out with a new man since her separation with Wentz.
A representative for Simpson and Piazza has yet to comment on the romance reports.

Country star REBA MCENTIRE is celebrating her father’s improving health - he has finally returned home after almost four months in hospital.
Clark McEntire defied the odds and awoke from a coma after suffering a stroke in March (11), but doctors had told the singer to prepare for the worst and Reba admits she had already planned her dad’s funeral.
However, in a post on her Twitter.com account on Monday (20Jun11), the hitmaker was happy to report her father is doing much better and is now recovering in the comfort of his own home in Oklahoma.
She wrote, "Just want to let you all know that my Daddy is back home after a long stint in hospitals and rehab. Thanks so much for all your prayers." The country star was forced to skip the announcement of her induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in March (11) after her dad fell ill - and she rushed to be at his bedside in Oklahoma.
After his initial recovery she told CMT.com, "I’m not kidding, we had planned the funeral three times. We’ve selected songs, we’ve picked out where he’s going to be buried, and now he’s just done a complete turnaround."

LIMP BIZKIT star FRED DURST will ring in his 40s with a headlining comeback show at California’s Epicenter festival in September (11).
The rocker turns 40 in August (20Aug11) and will perform with his band at the music event which featured Eminem, Bush and Kiss last year (10).
Limp Bizkit will hit the stage with Staind, Puddle of Mudd, P.O.D. and Papa Roach, among others for their first live performance in 2011 and their first Southern California concert in more than a decade.
Durst says, "Limp Bizkit is back, more dangerous and contagious than ever with our original line-up… I promise this will be a party you do not want to miss. Epicenter will be our first and only Southern California shindig."

Rocker GENE SIMMONS has promised to "work things out" with longtime girlfriend SHANNON TWEED after confessing things are not "terrific" between the couple.
Model Tweed stormed off the set of a U.S. TV interview with Simmons last week (15Jun11) when the KISS rocker joked about his fabled philandering ways.
The couple bickered throughout a brief appearance together on The Joy Behar Show, with Tweed calling her partner "a pig" after he joked about his womanising, before walking off the live segment, announcing, "It’s over. It’s so rude of you to joke about it." Simmons has now addressed the break-up rumours, revealing their relationship is rocky but he’s committed to making things right.
During an appearance on U.S. show The Talk on Monday (20Jun11), he said, "Things are not all terrific between Shannon and myself but we’re working on it… I’m not a plumber or a dentist. I’m surrounded by a lifestyle. And the problem is you’re surrounded by beautiful women. You can be an ugly SOB (son of a b**ch) like me and women will still throw themselves at you.
"For the record I love Shannon Tweed. I want to work this out. There’s no chance of me ever running out on my kids or Shannon. I will do anything I can to make sure I finally grow up and be a man.The bottom line is if you love somebody, you have to draw the line in the sand (and say) I can’t cross this line." And when asked by host Sharon Osbourne if his infidelities were to blame for the problems, Simmons answered: "Yes… (But) they’re gone (now)." Problems between Simmons and Tweed were sparked by a photo of the rocker posing with two young blondes outside a Los Angeles restaurant. Discussing the shot on the Today show last week (13Jun11), Tweed said, "I’m sick of hearing it, I’m sick of seeing it, and I’m sick of looking at it… Gene, please don’t play me for a fool." Simmons addressed reports of a bust-up in a series of tweets posted during the season premiere of his reality TV show Gene Simmons Family Jewels last week (14Jun11).
He wrote, "Sometimes it takes stepping back and seeing yourself like this to see what missteps you might have made… I hate seeing her (Tweed) like this. Hurts twice as much when I am the reason." On the show, the couple is seen working through problems with a therapist.

Vegetarian singer MORRISSEY has backed LADY GAGA’s 2010 MTV Video Music Awards meat dress stunt, insisting it’s fine to wear animal flesh as a "social and political statement".
The former The Smiths frontman has waged war on the meat industry throughout his 28-year career, and in recent years has stepped up his campaign to outlaw cooked flesh at his shows, banning burgers and sausages from venues on the Scottish leg of his current U.K. tour.
But he has surprised fans by revealing he supports Gaga’s decision to don a meat dress at the awards show.
He tells U.K. newspaper The Daily Telegraph, "The meat dress was first done by (British artist) Linder Sterling… in 1982, and she did it as a protest at men seeing female flesh as meat. I don’t know whether that came across with Lady Gaga.
"I think people didn’t question it too deeply - they simply saw it as ‘today’s loony idea’. But I like to assume that Gaga had the same notion. If it’s a social and political statement, it’s acceptable. If it isn’t a social and political statement, I don’t really see the point." The dress was recently donated to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio, where it will be displayed to fans.

British movie star IAN MCSHANE has landed his smallest role - he has reportedly been cast to play the Dwarf King in director RUPERT SANDERS’ SNOW WHITE adaptation.
Computer imagery will knock the Pirates of the Carribbean: On Stranger Tides star down to size for Snow White & The Huntsman, which will star Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.
McShane will play Caesar, a character new to the Snow White fairytale, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film starts shooting in August (11) and is expected to hit cinemas next summer (12).

Actress KIRSTIE ALLEY has created an all-organic weight loss programme.
The former Cheers star has shed a total of 90 pounds (40.9 kilograms) in a dramatic health overhaul and she’s vowing to help others get their bodies back in good shape with her new Internet-based company Organic Liaison.
During an appearance on U.S. talk show The View on Tuesday (21Jun11), she says, "I was so desperate because my main thing was I wanted to have a lot of energy, so I worked with scientists and different experts in the world of organic (food).
"There’s actually science behind all these chemicals… causing you to gain weight. (So) I have a company called Organic Liaison. We are doing really, really well. People love it. You eat your own food but we try to veer you towards organic. We have a lot of state-of-the-art tools on our website. It just gives you tons of energy. I’m really, really happy with it."
