JONAS MISSED OUT ON SPEARS TOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

JOE JONAS was desperate to hit the road with his childhood crush BRITNEY SPEARS this summer (11), but she turned him down in favour of "an all-girl tour".
The Jonas Brothers star is launching himself as a solo artist and hoped to be chosen to join the line-up of Spears’ Femme Fatale tour, which kicked off in Sacramento, California on Thursday night (16Jun11).
Jonas missed out and the support slots were given to Nicki Minaj and Jessie J, and he admits he is disappointed as he had a massive crush on Spears in his youth.
He tells E! Online, "At one point we were considering that (touring with Spears). But they wanted to go with an all-girl tour, which is really understandable. Nicki Minaj is fantastic…" Jonas adds, "The first CD that I ever bought was Britney Spears… I fell in love with her. It was an early crush for me."

WET WET WET PLANNING COMEBACK IN 2012

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:22 pm

WET WET WET are set to reunite in 2012 for a new album and tour, according to bassist GRAEME CLARK.
The band formed in the 1980s and went on to enjoy huge success in 1994 thanks to their cover of The Troggs’ Love Is All Around, which topped charts around the world.
The Scottish group last released an album in 2007 after 10 years away from the charts, and now the quartet is preparing to reunite for a tour and new record next year (12).
Clark, who quit the band last year (10) to focus on solo projects, reveals he is eager to return as long as they come back with a new sound.
He tells Britain’s Daily Record, "Everybody is busy. I speak to them once or twice a month. There is an element of the logistics of getting these four people at the same time to decide when to do this.
"Next year, there will be exciting stuff - a new tour and a new Wet Wet Wet album. I have put it to the guys and they agreed we have to be seen to be current.
"There has got to be a new album, otherwise it becomes nostalgia. We are looking at dates in the autumn."

STARS CELEBRATE SHAKUR’S BIRTHDAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

Stars including RICK ROSS and ERYKAH BADU turned out to mark what would have been TUPAC SHAKUR’s 40th birthday with a glitzy concert in Georgia.
The rap legend, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in 1996, would have reached the milestone on Thursday (16Jun11) and a host of famous faces turned out to honour the occasion and raise money for the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation at a show in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Performers included jazz musician Roy Ayers, rappers Bun B and Warren G, as well Badu and Ross, who gave an emotional speech about the slain star during his time on stage.
He told the crowd, "For a lot of lil’ dudes in a single parent home (like me) with my mother, Tupac played father for a lot of dudes like me. Tupac was the first one that showed me how to be fully committed. I (wanted to emulate) his hard work, his ethic, his family… When we talk about his record sales, let’s not forget the role he played to all the little black boys around the world." While Badu said, "My first reaction to Tupac was he’s not a rapper, he’s not an actor, he’s a saviour of sorts. But he came at a time when people weren’t looking for a saviour, they were looking for someone who looked like them." The concert was hosted by funnyman Mike Epps and at the end of the night, a $10,000 (£6,250) cheque was presented to Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur, for the charity, according to Allhiphop.com.

O’NEAL HASN’T SPOKEN TO MCENROE FOR TWO YEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

TATUM O’NEAL has opened up about her strained relationship with ex-husband JOHN MCENROE, admitting she hasn’t spoken to the father of her three children in two years.
The Paper Moon star married the tennis star when she was just 22 but they divorced in 1994 after having three kids together during their eight years of marriage.
O’Neal insists they try to maintain a "civil" relationship, but it has been years since they last spoke.
She tells CNN host Piers Morgan, "We get on as well as a divorced couple who have three grown kids can. I mean, we are civil. We don’t (talk regularly)… but that’s OK. Not very often… My daughter just got her tonsils out, so I texted him that day. (We last spoke) maybe two years ago." The actress, who long struggled with substance abuse, is convinced McEnroe still struggles to forgive her former drug addictions, although she has been sober for the last year.
She adds, "He’s not really a fan of mine. I said I was a fan of his. I don’t think he sees addiction as a disease. I think he sees it as a moral deficiency in a person. So therefore, he thinks that I really kind of went out of my way to ruin my life and drop my children. That is not the case at all. I have a lot of regret, obviously, for all the choices that I’ve made."

AUSTRALIAN STAR NEWTON IN HOSPITAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

Australian TV legend BERT NEWTON has been admitted to hospital in Melbourne after he was struck down with a bout of pneumonia.
The 72-year-old entertainer was taken to the medical facility on Thursday night (16Jun11) after reportedly contracting the infection from his infant granddaughter, according to the Australian Associated Press.
Newton’s hospitalisation came as he was due to fly back to Perth to resume his role in stage musical Wicked, but he was delayed due to the travel disruption caused by a cloud of volcanic ash which has drifted to Australia from Chile.
The musical will continue without Newton for the time being, with Wicked co-producer John Frost saying in a statement, "The cast and crew of Wicked miss Bert, and are sending him their love and best wishes. We hope he’ll be back with the show very soon."

MCAVOY DISMISSES 3D FILMS AS A ‘WASTE OF MONEY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:13 pm

Scottish actor JAMES MCAVOY has branded 3D movies a "waste of money", accusing film bosses of using the technique to wring more cash out of cinema-goers.
The number of movies using three dimensional technology to enhance the cinema experience has rocketed following the stellar success of James Cameron’s Avatar, which took a staggering $2 billion at the international box office following its release in 2009.
McAvoy admits he was ecstatic when producers of his X-Men: First Class project decided against a 3D release, because he is convinced the technology is simply a ploy to increase ticket prices.
He tells Deadline.com, "Thank God this movie (X-Men: First Class) is not in 3D, which is just an excuse to charge an extra 10 bucks (dollars) at the theatre. Then in the end, they’re not 3D at all. It’s a waste of money. The idea of things coming out of the screen and making you jump out your seat are done very well but I think it’s a waste of time and money and I wouldn’t pay for a ticket to go to one of those films." He also cites the 2010 Clash of the Titans movie, which stars his friend Sam Worthington, as an example of a 3D failure, because movie bosses added in the effect after the film had already been shot.
McAvoy adds, "I maintain you can’t do a good conversion of a two-hour movie with high quality in a few weeks like they tried to do with Clash of the Titans. I don’t mean to throw that movie under the bus because my buddy Sam (Worthington) is in it, but I think everybody realised that this was a point at which people had gone too far."
