ARCTIC MONKEYS DEFEND ‘BLANK’ ALBUM COVER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

British rockers ARCTIC MONKEYS purposely released their new album with a blank cover in a bid to force fans not to download it for free - because the record will look "c**p" on an iPod.
The Fluorescent Adolescent hitmakers are among several bands who are pioneering different methods of releasing new material to encourage fans to buy hard copies, rather than obtain it online.
They caused a stir with the cover for their new record Suck It and See, which features an off-white sleeve containing just the band’s name and the album title - with many fans accusing the rockers of laziness.
But now they’ve revealed the inner sleeve does have artwork - and the bland cover is a deliberate attempt to discourage downloading.
Drummer Matt Helders tells NME magazine, "It’ll make sense if you buy the actual album, because there is summat (something) to look at inside it. That’s why we did it, really. It’ll look c**p on an iPod screen. We want people to buy the physical product. And we thought it looked good. It looks nice."

GRIGORIEVA WANTS GIBSON’S LAWYERS DISQUALIFIED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Attorneys for MEL GIBSON’s ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA have asked appeals court officials to dismiss the legal team representing the actor in their ongoing custody battle.
The Braveheart star split from Grigorieva, the mother of his daughter Lucia, early last year (10) and the ex-couple has been locked in a bitter dispute over the child ever since.
But the Russian singer has taken issue with Gibson’s choice of legal firm, Kolodny and Anteau, because she had previously consulted partner Ronald Anteau over a separate custody case with former James Bond star Timothy Dalton, regarding their teenage son Alexander.
Anteau is not directly involved in Gibson’s court battle, but Grigorieva claims her discussions with him in 2008 could be used as part of her custody fight with the actor, reports the Associated Press.
In her court papers, Grigorieva states, "The matters discussed with Mr. Anteau concerned the same subject matter that has been inquired into in the present case by (Gibson’s attorney) Stephen Kolodny, both in open court and at deposition." Grigorieva recently asked Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon to address the potential conflict of interest, but the objection was dismissed last month (May11), with the judge ruling she had waited too long to raise the issue.
However, the singer claims she only recently made the connection, and is now asking officials at the California 2nd District Court of Appeal to step in and deliver a new ruling before the custody battle resumes in court later this month (Jun11).

KARDASHIAN FIRES OFF LEGAL WARNING OVER AFFAIR ALLEGATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Newly-engaged KIM KARDASHIAN is threatening to sue the editors of a U.S. magazine after they alleged the reality TV star has been cheating on her fiance KRIS HUMPHRIES with another sportsman.
New Jersey Nets basketball player Humphries proposed to Kardashian in May (11) after a six month romance and the couple plans to wed this summer (11).
But the Keeping Up with the Kardashians beauty has been left fuming after writers at In Touch Weekly published this week’s (begs06Jun11) cover story with the headline, ‘Kim Caught Cheating!’ The article accuses Kardashian of embarking on a five-month affair with American footballer Bret Lockett - while she was dating Humphries. Lockett, who is quoted in the story, appears to confirm the allegations - which Kardashian has strenuously denied.
TMZ.com reports the star learned of the tabloid’s plans to print the story earlier this week (06Jun11), prompting her lawyer, Dennis Roach, to fire off a stern letter warning that any publication of the salacious claims are, "at a minimum, damaging, defamatory, and an invasion of her privacy".
But In Touch editors ran the article in their latest issue, which hit retailers on Wednesday (08Jun11).
The piece even features what the magazine insists is sexy text correspondence between Kardashian and the footballer.
Kardashian’s representative tells the website her attorney now plans to sue the magazine and New England Patriots star Lockett.
It’s the second false report about Kardashian in as many weeks - she was recently forced to shoot down reports she’s pregnant with Humphries’ baby after another magazine took her remarks about starting a family too far.

If the actress fails to pay up, the home, which was previously owned by Lisa Marie Presley, will go into foreclosure.
Alley has been staying in a rented apartment in New York’s trendy Tribeca district since finishing in second place on U.S. TV competition Dancing With the Stars last month (May11).

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Embattled actor MEL GIBSON has jetted to Guatemala to complete his required community service hours.
In March (11), the actor struck a plea deal with Los Angeles prosecutors in a bid to stay out of jail after he was accused of attacking ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva during a heated argument last year (10).
Under the terms of the agreement, Gibson was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to undergo 52 weeks of counselling, pay almost $600 (£400) in fines and serve 16 hours of community service.

MORRISON MET OBAMA WHILE DRESSED AS A NAZI

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

MATTHEW MORRISON was mortified when he first met U.S. President BARACK OBAMA, because the GLEE star was dressed as a Nazi stormtrooper at the event.
The actor/musician was invited to perform at the annual Kennedy Center Honours in Washington, DC, in December (10) to pay tribute to Mel Brooks, and he sang a version of the director’s well-known song, Springtime for Hitler.
Morrison dressed in full Nazi uniform - complete with Swastika - for the performance, and he was still wearing the controversial costume later in the evening when he met the U.S. President.
He tells British TV show Loose Women, "We were honouring Mel Brooks and I sang Springtime for Hitler in a full Nazi stormtrooper outfit. It was actually the first time I met Obama, and I was wearing… I had a Swastika on and stuff. I was, like, ‘This isn’t how I envisaged meeting you, but hello Mr. President!"

RIHANNA VIDEO DIRECTOR CALLS OUT MAN DOWN CRITICISM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

The director of RIHANNA’s controversial new MAN DOWN music video has confirmed the singer deliberately set out to hit headlines to "shine a light on the very dark subject matter".
Anthony Mandler teamed up with the pop star to make the hard-hitting promo for Man Down, in which the Umbrella star shoots a stranger at a railway station. A series of flashback images then show her grappling with the man outside a nightclub as he tries to attack her.
Rihanna has defended the footage, insisting she just wanted to warn young fans about the dangers of the "real world", and director Mandler has now backed her up, branding the headline-hitting criticism simply a "knee-jerk" reaction.
The filmmaker is also convinced today’s artists need to stop playing safe with their music videos and push the boundaries in the way Madonna did in the 1980s.
He tells the Hollywood Reporter, "It’s (the video) doing exactly what Rihanna and I hoped it would do, which is shine a light on the very dark subject matter… This medium used to be a great medium of messages… I grew up in the era of Madonna releasing videos and sparking controversy. I think most people are wasting this medium…
"The fact that there’s an argument to ban this because this will make girls retaliate from abuse with murder is skipping over the point. We obviously have a huge issue to deal with as a country."

COSTNER TO GO TO TRIAL WITH BALDWIN OVER LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:37 pm

KEVIN COSTNER has been forced to go to trial over a multi-million dollar lawsuit which accuses him of duping STEPHEN BALDWIN into giving up his shares in a pioneering oil-cleaning technology.
The Usual Suspects star sued Costner in December (10), claiming he should have benefited from Costner’s success after he introduced an oil-filtration device to help clean up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill last year (10).
Baldwin alleged he was a 10 per cent partner in the invention, but claims the movie star and his partners persuaded him to sell his shares in the company. He is now demanding more than $4 million (£2.7 million) from the actor.
Costner filed to dismiss the legal action in February (11), but on Wednesday (08Jun11), a U.S. district judge in New Orleans, Louisiana rejected the request, ruling the case should be fought out in a non-jury trial, according to Bloomberg.
A trial date has been set for May (12).
