SIENNA MILLER has received a formal apology from the owner of British tabloid the News of the World for the "harassment and distress" caused to the actress during a phone tapping scandal in 2004.
The G.I. Joe star was targeted by the publication’s reporters, who illegally hacked into her private voicemail messages in the hopes of acquiring information about her relationship with then-boyfriend Jude Law.
Miller sued over the controversy and was awarded $160,000 (£100,000) in damages last month (May11) after editors accepted responsibility for invading her privacy.
Michael Silverleaf, legal counsel for News Group newspapers, the tabloid’s parent company, offered the firm’s "sincere apologies" to the actress in London’s High Court on Tuesday (07Jun11).

Pop superstar JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is planning to quit touring for good after one final global trek.
The SexyBack hitmaker last hit the road for the FutureSex/LoveShow, spending almost the whole of 2007 performing to fans across the globe.
He has since taken a step back from his music to concentrate on his acting career with roles in movies such as The Social Network and the forthcoming Bad Teacher and Friends With Benefits.
Timberlake has yet to start working on a follow-up to his 2006 release FutureSex/LoveSounds and, although he hasn’t given up on pop just yet, he admits he can’t imagine touring for much longer since turning 30 in January (11).
Asked whether he plans to release another album soon, he tells Vanity Fair magazine, "I really don’t know. I wouldn’t say I’m not going to put out another one. I would say that would be a bad bet, if you were betting. But I could see myself only doing one more big tour." Timberlake is currently enjoying a rare long break in his schedule and insists he’s enjoying doing nothing - because it gives him the space to do whatever he wants.
He says, "Right now, I’m not in the mood to work. I want to not have a schedule. I want to go to the Dodgers (baseball) game if I feel like it. ‘Hey, do you guys want to play basketball today? Cool, let’s do that.’ I’ve never really given myself the opportunity to be spontaneous.
"I figure I can go on like this until the end of the year. I don’t have anything I have to do. The only job I have to do is promote the films that are coming out, and I’m really looking forward to that. It will be fun. I’ll get to go to a bunch of countries, hang out."

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and MILA KUNIS convinced director WILL GLUCK to rewrite the script for FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS as a sex-fuelled romantic comedy after learning it was originally planned as a family-friendly movie.
The co-stars play pals who agree to embark on a no-strings-attached intimate relationship, but the singer-turned-actor reveals the plot was originally very different - because studio bosses were aiming to please film censors and gain a PG-13 rating to appeal to a wider audience.
However, Timberlake and Kunis agreed the story should be all about sex, as the title suggests, so they spent weeks working with Gluck to give the story a complete overhaul.
Timberlake tells Vanity Fair magazine, "It was originally supposed to be a PG-13 movie. That was crazy to me. How do you make a movie called Friends With Benefits and not embrace the title." The movie, set for release in July (11), has yet to be given an age rating by officials at the Motion Picture Association of America, but is expected to receive a more restricted rating as it includes a nude scene featuring both Timberlake and Kunis.

Pioneering rapper and graffiti artist FAB FIVE FREDDY is launching an exhibition of his artwork in New York.
The star, who rose to fame on the hip-hop circuit in the 1980s, is putting a number of his personal canvas pieces on show in a series described as an abstract exploration of Freddy’s graffiti experience as a youngster growing up in the Big Apple.
The art show at Manhattan’s Gallery 151 opens on Wednesday (08Jun11) and will run until 1 July (11), reports AllHipHop.com.

TAYLOR SWIFT and SHANIA TWAIN have channelled SUSAN SARANDON and GEENA DAVIS’ performances in THELMA & LOUISE to film a promo clip for the 2011 CMT Music Awards.
The country singers shot the Thelma & Louise-themed segment in Thompson’s Station in Tennessee on Monday (06Jun11), posing for photos in a classic blue convertible similar to the one used in the iconic 1991 movie, about two best friends on the run from the law.
Swift, 21, is a triple nominee for the 2011 prizegiving. The winners, voted for by country music fans, will be announced at a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (08Jun10). Kid Rock will host.

Hip-hop veteran FLAVOR FLAV spent thousands of dollars on drugs a day - for six years.
The Public Enemy star and reality TV regular details the extent of his battle for sobriety in his new memoir Flavor Flav: Icon, admitting he’d never be able to live with himself if he totalled up the amount of money he wasted on drugs.
He tells PopEater.com, "I was spending $2,600 (£1,625) a day, for six years, every single day (on drugs). I don’t know how much that is, but, if you did the math, wow, I went through a lot of money. If I did the math I’d probably be shocked on how much money I spent, I’d probably punch myself in the face." Based on his estimate, he would have spent nearly $5.7 million (£3.56 million) over a six-year period just to fuel his addiction.

TAYLOR SWIFT is set to give the BLACK EYED PEAS’ upcoming charity concert in New York a country twist by joining them onstage in the city’s famed Central Park.
The I Gotta Feeling hitmakers will treat fans to a special outdoor show on Thursday (09Jun11) to raise funds for anti-poverty group the Robin Hood Foundation.
Stars including Deborah Harry, LL Cool J and Natasha Bedingfield, along with actors Whoopi Goldberg and Zach Braff have already signed up to make appearances at the gig, and now Swift has joined the line-up.

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE director TOM SIX has slammed British film officials for banning his upcoming sequel to the graphic horror movie and posting scene spoilers on their website.
The original film, about a German doctor who kidnaps three tourists and surgically joins them mouth to anus to form a human centipede, received mixed reviews upon its limited release last year (10), and now the follow-up The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) is causing controversy over its sexually violent plotline.
The disturbing new movie, written and directed by Six, was due for release on DVD this year (11), but it will not hit the U.K. market following a ruling by officials at the British Board of Film Classification, which deemed the film "unacceptable" for viewers.
And Six is not at all pleased.
In a statement released to Empire, he says, "Thank you BBFC for putting spoilers of my movie on your website and thank you for banning my film in this exceptional way. Apparently I made an horrific horror-film, but shouldn’t a good horror film be horrific? My dear people it is a f**king MOVIE.
"It is all fictional. Not real. It is all make-belief. It is art. Give people their own choice to watch it or not. If people can’t handle or like my movies they just don’t watch them. If people like my movies they have to be able to see it any time, anywhere also in the UK.â�� Filmmakers have six weeks to appeal the decision.

Reality star KHLOE KARDASHIAN has laughed off an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction which left her nipple on show throughout a morning interview on U.S. TV.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star went bra-less and wore a black shirt with sheer sleeves and side panels for a slew of promo appearances on Tuesday (07Jun11), but she had no idea part of her breast was on show when she sat down with her sister Kourtney for a chat on Fox & Friends.
TV presenters and producers on the conservative network also failed to notice the nipple slip and it was only when Kardashian logged onto her Twitter.com blog after the interview that she realised she had exposed herself on air.
Replying to fans’ messages about the incident, she wrote, "I had a nip slip and I loved it!" And she further brushed off the controversy after her manager mother Kris Jenner alerted her to the fact she was hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons.
She added, "My mom just called me saying my nip slip is ‘all over the internet!’ Ha! Is it weird that I love it?! Who knew nipples were so special?"

Actress ANNE HATHAWAY accidentally injured a stuntman while filming the new BATMAN sequel THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - when she clubbed him with a prop gun.
The star, who plays Catwoman in the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan movie, was shooting an action sequence when she jammed a gun into the guy’s face.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Anne got a bit carried away during a fight scene and mistakenly shoved the butt of the gun right into the actor’s eye socket. He came away with a massive black eye. Anne was mortified. It was all in good humour but the poor guy took quite a pummelling." Hathaway was so embarrassed by the mishap, she immediately offered an apology and later gave the stuntman a gag gift - a pen engraved with the words: ‘Remember, no one packs a punch like Anne’.
