SIR ELTON ALBUM DESIGNER WANTS ARTWORK BACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

An artist who designed the iconic cover for SIR ELTON JOHN’s album GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD has asked the star to return the original picture.
Ian Beck was paid $688 (£430) for his artwork which was used on the sleeve of the classic 1973 record.
He now wants his original piece returned - and he is convinced the Rocket Man is in possession of the picture.
Beck tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "I did the cover for Elton’s label Rocket Records. Elton loved it and it was a very successful album… I think Elton kept the cover work… So if you are listening, Elton, I would like the Yellow Brick Road back, please, because I created it." A spokesman for Sir Elton tells the publication, "I have no idea whether Elton has it, but presumably if he does, he paid for it so it is his; £430 was a hell of a lot of money back then. A bit weird, isn’t it, to ask for something back 38 years later?"

STILLER GLAD HE MOVED BACK TO NEW YORK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

The Hollywood actor was born and raised in the city, but has been living in Los Angeles in recent years with his wife Christine Taylor and their two children.

ADELE SNUBS ‘SHAMEFUL’ ENDORSEMENT DEALS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Chart-topping soul star ADELE has vowed never to "sell out" by signing up for "shameful" endorsement deals.
The British singer has sold millions of albums around the world, but she has never used her fame to advertise products, and Adele is convinced she has made the right decision by turning down all the lucrative offers.
She tells Britain’s Q magazine, "I think it’s shameful when you sell out. It depends what kind of artist you wanna be but I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t wanna be tainted or haunted." Adele also refuses to sit down for hours of interviews and publicity work, as she doesn’t want her fans to grow tired of seeing her on magazine covers, adding, "I don’t want to be in everyone’s face. I’m a big music fan and I get really p**sed off when it gets like that… and I don’t want people to get like that with me." The singer remains determined to go against her management team’s advice by playing shows for smaller audiences, despite being offered a fortune to perform at London’s 18,000-capacity O2 arena.
She adds, "We had three nights on hold at The O2 and I was like, ‘I won’t play a festival. You think I’m gonna play a f**kin’ arena? Are you out of your mind?’ I’d rather play 12 years at (small venue) the Barfly than one night at The O2! So I’ve made all those decisions and some people are pretty mortified. They think I’m mad."

BIEBER FEVER SENDS JONES DOWN MEMORY LANE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Veteran rocker KENNEY JONES feels sorry for JUSTIN BIEBER after witnessing the hysterical reaction of young female fans at one of the teen star’s concerts.
Jones, who replaced Keith Moon in The Who following the drummer’s death in 1978, took his daughter to see Bieber perform in London earlier this year (11).
The musician found himself sympathising with the young pop star - because the scenes of hysteria at the show reminded him of his 1960s heyday with the Small Faces.
Jones tells Uncut magazine, "We had a cute look. We were all small and incredibly young. Without knowing it, we were four Justin Biebers. I took my daughter to see him at the O2 Arena, and when the girls started screaming, it all came flooding back. It was eardrum-shattering. I thought, ‘I know exactly what you’re going through, mate.’"

TUNSTALL STRUCK DOWN WITH TINNITUS AFTER SPICE GIRLS GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

Scottish singer KT TUNSTALL has been left with permanent hearing damage after attending a SPICE GIRLS gig in 2008.
The singer-songwriter was struck down with tinnitus after a night out watching the reformed girl group and has now opened up about how the condition has affected her life.
Tunstall admits she was terrified when the tinnitus first set in and she struggled to perform on stage.
She says, "It was awful when it first happened to me, very hard to accept and really frightening. It started after I’d gone to a Spice Girls concert and got great seats but unfortunately they were also pretty close to the huge speakers. After that evening I had this incessant high pitched whine in my left ear.
"I didn’t know what it was and at first just hoped it would go away, but it didn’t and it started to drive me mad. It got very bad at one point in those early months and I was struggling on stage because it really affected my hearing certain tones, it can affect the top frequency of that ear’s hearing when it’s very loud." Tunstall’s condition has prompted her to back a celebrity charity campaign called Hear The World, which aims to raise awareness of hearing loss.

GAGA EATS LETTERMAN’S SCRIPT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

LADY GAGA shocked U.S. TV viewers during an appearance on DAVID LETTERMAN’s talk show this week (beg23May11) by snatching the host’s script and eating in front of him.
The pop superstar appeared on the Late Show on Monday night (23May11) to promote her new album, Born This Way, and she talked to the presenter about her wacky stage antics.
Letterman grilled Gaga about the egg prop she has used to make an entrance at events, asking her, "Tell me about the egg. How much time do you spend in it? Oh, is it tough to get insurance?" She replied, "Well, no, because for me, it’s a place where I can meditate and experience rebirth. So I just get inside of it and close it and then when I feel that I have been reborn spiritually, I just, whoo, come out." He went on to quiz her about whether she once ate a "Barbie doll’s head" on stage, and the singer insisted she does it "all the time" before grabbing Letterman’s production notes, ripping the script into pieces and stuffing it in her mouth. She chewed on the paper in front of the shocked host and later spat it out behind her chair.

SNIDER THANKS AUTHORITIES AFTER BROTHER-IN-LAW COURT CASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

TWISTED SISTER frontman DEE SNIDER has released an emotional family statement thanking authorities for their help following the conclusion of the trial of a man accused of murdering the rocker’s brother-in-law.
Vincent Gargiulo, the brother of Snider’s wife Suzette, was gunned down in New York City in 2003. His business partner Christian Tarantino, 42, was accused of the killing, but after a trial in Manhattan, a jury failed to reach a verdict on Monday (23May11).
He will be retried in August (11). Tarantino was convicted of other charges relating to two killings connected to an armed robbery in 1994.
After the court proceedings, Snider released a statement on behalf of his family praising local authorities for their hard work in bringing the case to court.
The statement reads, "We are grateful to finally have some kind of legal closure to these crimes, but that does not change the fact we have lost a son, a brother, an uncle and most of all a beloved friend.
"Vinny believed Chris Tarantino to be a bad person who needed to be stopped; so much so he gave his life to do just that.
"We would like to thank all the federal, state and local authorities who worked so tirelessly these past six years… Their commitment to gaining a measure of justice for the victims in this case was inspiring. Vinny, we all love you and miss you."

SLIPKNOT drummer JOEY JORDISON has paid tribute to PAUL GRAY in an open letter addressed to his late bandmate a year after the bassist’s tragic death.
The 38-year-old musician was found dead in an Iowa hotel room on 24 May, 2010 and his passing was blamed on an accidental drugs overdose.

He writes, "Hey Paul, It was so great hanging out with you yesterday and today. TWO INJURED IN THE HOBBIT SET EXPLOSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

Two crew members working on THE HOBBIT have been taken to hospital after an explosion at the New Zealand studio where the movie is filming.
Emergency services were called to the Stone St Studios in Miramar on Tuesday morning after a blast in one of the workshops where technicians were working on a statue prop.
Two men suffered minor burns and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
The Hobbit unit publicist Ceris Price tells the New Zealand Herald, "A couple of the guys… (were left with) mild burns but nothing serious… One of them had some burnt nostril hairs and, apparently if that’s the case, there is always the risk of inhalation so they get checked out." Officials at New Zealand’s Department of Labour have carried out an investigation into the incident and no further action is expected.
The two-part Lord of the Rings prequel, which stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, has been beset by numerous problems as movie bosses attempted to push the project into production.
Financial problems at the MGM studio behind the film led to severe delays and the exit of director Guillermo Del Toro. He was replaced by producer Peter Jackson, who had to face down threats from acting unions in a dispute over pay and conditions, and the project was further delayed this year (11) to allow Jackson time to recover from surgery to treat a perforated ulcer.

FONDA’S $55,000 SMILE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

JANE FONDA’s perfect smile cost her a massive $55,000 (£34,375) and she forfeited a new car to pay for the dental work.

She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "See these teeth? They cost $55,000. It was teeth or a new car - and I opted for the teeth. That’s what I mean by good genes and money. It costs a lot to look the way I do, although the genes cost nothing… I owe 30 per cent to my genes, 30 per cent good sex, 30 per cent are because of sports and healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and for the remaining 10 per cent I’ve to thank my plastic surgeon."

PLAN B’S FEARS OVER ‘RISKY’ CHARITY SINGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

British rapper PLAN B was reluctant to release a charity single with SIR ELTON JOHN because he feared a "cheesy" record would put his reputation on the line.
The star - real name Ben Ballance-Drew - has teamed up with the music legend to record a new version of his hit track Hard Times to raise money for aid organisations in Pakistan and Japan.
Plan B was worried the collaboration would damage his "underground" reputation, but he was willing to take the risk for such a good cause.
He says, "I said to my friends all it needs is (Irish singer) Ronan Keating’s voice and it’s cheese. It’s proper on the edge - but I’m happy that it’s just on the edge… love my hip-hop, my underground hip-hop and I want to carry on doing that. And releasing a charity record was a bit of a risk for me, doing something so high profile, it risks me crossing that line where I can never go back to doing the underground.
"But there’s a lot of people dead and a lot of people injured and suffering over there and I am in this position that I can change something or that I can contribute to making somebody’s life better."

GAGA BORROWED PANTYHOSE FROM GIRLS ALOUD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

LADY GAGA once averted an awards show fashion disaster by borrowing a pair of pantyhose from British pop stars GIRLS ALOUD.
The Poker Face hitmaker was scheduled to perform at the Brit Awards in London in 2009 with the Pet Shop Boys, but suffered a last-minute panic when she realised she had forgotten a vital part of her costume.
Gaga approached Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts backstage and was relieved when the singer handed over a much-needed pair of pantyhose.
In an interview with Roberts for Britain’s MTV Music, Gaga says, "Last time we met was at the Brits. Actually, you might not even know this but you’ve given me a present once before. When we were backstage at the Brits - when I was very new - I was performing with the Pet Shop Boys and I needed pantyhose.
"I was knocking on Girls Aloud’s door and you gave them to me. So thank you for my hose."
