BRONSON ESTATE SUING OVER UNPAID MOVIE PROFITS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:39 am

The executors of CHARLES BRONSON’s estate are taking legal action against studio bosses at Warner Bros. and MGM over allegations of unpaid profits.
Representatives for the legendary The Great Escape actor filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (26May11), claiming the Bronson estate is owed money from the Warner Bros. film St. Ives and the MGM-produced Telefon in 1976.
Larry Martindale, a trustee for Bronson’s estate, claims the star was promised a 10 to 15 per cent cut of "gross receipts" and "gross film rentals" from both movie contracts, but alleges the full payments have yet to be made, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Estate executors blame studio executives for "not fairly allocating revenue generated from television sales and only reporting 20 per cent of the gross receipts for home video and DVD sales".
Bronson’s representatives are seeking unspecified damages for charges including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, fraudulent misrepresentation and unfair business practices.
Bronson died in 2003.

LOHAN BEGINS SERVING TIME UNDER HOUSE ARREST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:57 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN has begun her 120-day jail term - in the comfort of her own home.
The Mean Girls star was sentenced in April (11) to serve time for violating her probation on a 2007 charge for driving under the influence. She was also ordered to complete 480 hours of community service after the actress was accused of stealing a necklace from a California jewellery store in January (11).
Lohan turned herself over to authorities at Lynwood Jail in Los Angeles around 5am local time on Thursday (26May11), but she was allowed to return to her Venice, California home within the hour to serve her time under house arrest.
Los Angeles Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore tells People.com, "She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times." Whitmore explains prison overcrowding, and the fact that Lohan is a non-violent offender, made her eligible for house arrest.
The actress, who has been fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet, was not required to take another booking photo.
A Los Angeles judge ruled Lohan’s arrest over the alleged theft broke the terms of her parole, but Lohan, who pleaded no contest to the misdemeanour, escaped further punishment and was simply ordered to turn herself into police on or before 17 June (11) to begin the 120-day sentence.

ROSE DEFENDS POST-WEST CAREER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

KANYE WEST’s ex-girlfriend AMBER ROSE has defended her right to build a career off the back of the failed romance, insisting she deserves the chance to prove herself.
The couple’s relationship came to an end last year (10) and Rose has gone on to score numerous modelling deals and land her own reality TV show after shooting to fame as the rapper’s lover.
Rose acknowledges West is responsible for much of her good fortune, but she is determined to make the most of the opportunities which come her way.
She tells Vibe magazine, "What am I supposed to do? Crawl up in a corner and die ’cause I’m not with Kanye anymore? Am I supposed to go back to the strip club and not take these opportunities that I have? I don’t have rich parents, and it’s a struggle. I can’t just call my dad and be like, ‘Dad, my money is a little messed up. Can you buy me a car or a house?’ It’s not like that for me.
"I feel like more people will relate to my story than the Kardashians or the Hiltons." The model is also adamant she is still good friends with her famous ex-boyfriend, even though she is now dating another rapper - Wiz Khalifa. She adds, "People think me and Kanye are enemies, and we are not enemies. He wants the best for me, still.
"Let me say this: I still love Kanye. I will always love him as a person. I will always love him for what he’s done for me. I still always have that soft spot in my heart for him.
"I do not look at him in a sexual way anymore. I’m in love with someone else. I still love him as a person and want him to find happiness like I did. Everyone deserves that."

The pair was chosen to help fete the class of 2011 at the famed Massachusetts school, and state native Poehler couldn’t help but make jokes about her own education in Boston during her speech on Wednesday (25May11), telling the pupils, "Just because you’re wicked smart doesn’t mean you’re better than me. I graduated from BC (Boston College): ‘The Harvard of Boston.’ Though we all know, Harvard is the Harvard of Harvard.” She also poked fun at famous Harvard graduate Mark Zuckerberg and his legal battle with the Winklevoss twins, which was depicted in The Social Network movie, adding, "(Harvard is) filled with people who get rich by inventing things, and people who get rich suing the people who invented things.” Baldwin also kept his speech light-hearted, but ended on a serious not by urging the students not to squander their prospects, according to the Boston Herald.
He said, "This country needs your help. You have the tools to change lives. There’s no limit to what you can do. Better people’s lives or liberate your countrymen. You have the power. Use it not just to do good, but to bring morality to the law… As I’ve grown older, I believe I would trade what I have for what you will have tomorrow afternoon.”

PRINCE SNUBBED GLASTONBURY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

Pop superstar PRINCE was originally on the bill for this year’s (11) Glastonbury festival in Britain, but dropped out of the line-up.
Fesitval organiser Michael Eavis has revealed the Purple Rain hitmaker was his first choice as a headline act, but after weeks of negotiations the deal fell through and he decided to settle on a bill of U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.
Eavis tells Britain’s Daily Star, "I tried to get Prince earlier on. At one point he was, then he wasn’t, then he was. It was a question of a bird in the hand. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, if not three in a bush. In the end I went for the bands we have on the bill now, which ain’t bad."

RUDOLPH REVEALS ‘SCARY’ SECOND BIRTH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

Pregnant actress MAYA RUDOLPH is hoping for a calm labour when she gives birth to her third child later this year (11) as she delivered her second daughter at home after failing to get to hospital in time.
The star and her director partner Paul Thomas Anderson are expecting their third baby, a sibling for Pearl, five, and 18-month-old Lucille.
Rudolph admits Lucille’s birth in 2009 was far from smooth, telling People.com, "(A homebirth) was not my plan, but that’s what happened… because the baby came out really fast. Luckily, she just kind of glided into her father’s arms.
"It was scary, but it was kind of awesome. Hospitals make me nervous because I feel like hospital equals death, like it smells like dead people and weird fluids that pickle people." And having her baby at home meant a further surprise for Rudolph: "You have to put the placenta somewhere and I didn’t know it at the time, but someone put it in my freezer. Then a couple of weeks later I opened the freezer and was like, ‘What is that weird meat?’ Apparently a lot of cultures eat it. I did not do that, so don’t worry, I’m not a weirdo."

RICKMAN WRITES EMOTIONAL LETTER TO MARK END OF POTTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

British actor ALAN RICKMAN has marked the upcoming end of the HARRY POTTER franchise in an emotional letter praising his now grown-up co-stars, as well as creator J.K. ROWLING.
The wizard movies will conclude this year (11) with the release of the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and Rickman, who plays wizard teacher Severus Snape, has shared his thoughts about the end of Potter.
In a letter written to Empire magazine, Rickman reveals he realised the enormity of his 10-year stint in the Potter franchise when he saw a grown-up Daniel Radcliffe recently performing on Broadway.
He writes, "I have just returned from the dubbing studio where I spoke into a microphone as Severus Snape for absolutely the last time. On the screen were some flashback shots of Daniel, Emma, and Rupert from 10 years ago. They were 12. I have also recently returned from New York, and while I was there, I saw Daniel singing and dancing (brilliantly) on Broadway. A lifetime seems to have passed in minutes. Three children have become adults since a phone call with Jo Rowling, containing one small clue, persuaded me that there was more to Snape than an unchanging costume, and that even though only three of the books were out at that time, she held the entire massive but delicate narrative in the surest of hands.
"It is an ancient need to be told in stories. But the story needs a great storyteller. Thanks for all of it, Jo."

KENNEDY TAPES TO AIR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

An American TV network is set to broadcast previously unheard tapes of former First Lady JACKIE KENNEDY talking about her husband, President JOHN F. KENNEDY, just months after his assassination.
The interviews with historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. were conducted in early 1964 in the aftermath of the U.S. leader’s death in November 1963.
The tapes, which have been kept private for nearly 50 years, were inherited by Kennedy’s daughter Caroline and they will be aired in public for the first time in a series of TV and radio programmes later this year (11).
Kennedy - later known as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and who died in 1994 - rarely spoke about her time in the White House, but will be heard opening up about the details of her life in the shows, which will include a one-hour 20/20 TV special hosted by Diane Sawyer due for broadcast in September (11). A book, titled Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy, is also set for release.
Caroline Kennedy says in a statement, "It is a great privilege to be able to share these recollections with the millions of people who admire my parents. My mother took very seriously the obligation to preserve and document the history of my father’s administration - and these interviews are the result. I am honoured to play a small part in that effort by bringing them forward in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy administration.”
