GIBB: ‘SPRINGFIELD OUTSHINES CURRENT CHART STARS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

ROBIN GIBB has hailed DUSTY SPRINGFIELD as the greatest female singer in modern history, insisting no artist can match the soul legend.
The Bee Gees star unveiled a special plaque commemorating the Son of a Preacher Man hitmaker at her former home in Kensington, London on Sunday (08May11) and he used the occasion to praise Springfield’s vocal talent.
Gibb also criticised the current crop of female chart stars, telling reporters they "just pose at singing".
He says, "(Springfield) is probably the greatest female popular singer in the modern pop rock era - since 1963, there’s been no one to match her.
"This includes the United States as well - they can’t come close to her. Today they just pose at singing. She was the genuine article.
"I don’t think there will ever be anyone that could take the place of Dusty Springfield." Springfield, who died in 1999, lived at the London property from 1968 to 1972.

Rascal states, "Music matters to me because it pays the bills", while British pop star Paloma Faith adds, "Music matters to me because it articulates things in a way I couldn’t do, with my ridiculous use of the English language."

WATTS PRESENTS FILM HONOUR TO PARTNER SCHREIBER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:30 am

NAOMI WATTS stepped in to honour her actor partner LIEV SCHREIBER at the opening of the Israel Film Festival in New York after their author pal JONATHAN SAFRAN FOER was forced to pull out of the event.
Foer was due to present the 2011 IFF Cinematic Achievement Award Honoree prize to the Salt star on Thursday (05May11), but the duty was handed to Watts when the writer’s kids fell ill hours before the ceremony.
The Australian beauty gushed about Schreiber as she took to the stage, telling the audience, "I’m sorry that our friend Jonathan Safran Foer can’t be here. His kids have food poisoning… I’m sad that he can’t be here but I’m glad that I can because I don’t know of anyone who would rather give him this award which he so obviously deserves…
"He really cares about a lot of things that are deeply important to him and Israel is one of them. We went there (Israel) a couple of years back. This is a man who cares about where he came and the roots of who he is, and so being able to share that experience with him was a great pleasure. He is a true talent. I could go on and on and be here all night speaking about this man who is my partner in crime and the father of my children. He is a wonderful human being, congratulations honey." Foer befriended Schreiber in 2005 when the actor decided to turn the author’s book Everything Is Illuminated into a film, marking his debut as a director and screenwriter.

JENNIFER LOPEZ jumped at the chance to record a song co-written by LADY GAGA for her new album, admitting she "kind of lucked out" landing the catchy tune.
The lovely Latina hit the studio with producer RedOne as she began work on Love? and she was excited to learn Gaga had been involved in penning Hynotico, one of the tracks she had picked to work on.
The singer/actress didn’t get the chance to meet with the Paparazzi hitmaker during the creative process, but will finally come face-to-face with Gaga next week (begs09May11) when she makes a guest appearance on reality show American Idol, on which Lopez is a judge.
And Gaga fan Lopez can’t wait.
She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "I didn’t (get to meet her) and I wish I could have.
"RedOne, who collaborates with her on a lot of her music, worked with me on this album. He played me different ideas and different things and one of the ones that I responded to, actually a couple of them, he was like, ‘Just so you know, I worked with Lady Gaga writing those.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Is it OK if I do them and make them my own?’ and he was like, ‘Absolutely’. So I kind of lucked out."

DERULO URGES MEN TO CHECK FOR CANCER

Hunky singer JASON DERULO hopes his nude shoot for a top British women’s magazine will encourage his male fans to regularly check for testicular cancer.
The Ridin’ Solo hitmaker has stripped off for the June issue of Cosmopolitan in a bid to raise awareness of the disease and he wants men everywhere to "take care" of their privates.
He says, "I’m very proud of my manhood. It’s the best part of my body, so I want to look after it. That’s why it’s important to raise awareness of testicular cancer; we need to be more open about our health, go for check-ups and take care of our bodies.

BRAXTON HESITANT ABOUT POSING FOR PLAYBOY BECAUSE OF KIDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:27 am

Financially-strapped TONI BRAXTON is still contemplating an offer to pose nude for Playboy magazine because she’s concerned the spread will have a negative impact on her two sons.
The Un-Break My Heart hitmaker was approached by editors of the men’s publication to strip off in January (11), three months after filing for bankruptcy (Oct10).
But the star is hesitant to agree to the lucrative deal because she worries her young boys Denim and Diezel will get teased about the sexy spread at school.
Speaking on U.S. talk show The View on Friday (06May11), she says, "I’m thinking about it. I haven’t said yes. One of the reasons why I’m considering, or I guess I should say basking in the moment, is because I’m older now…
"I’m totally flattered, like, ‘You want me to be a cover girl?’ I haven’t made a decision… because my kids are in the booby stage (at) eight or nine (years old). They just discovered (them). ‘Mummy, boobies, boobies!’ I don’t want their friends to say, ‘I just saw your mum’s boobies.’" In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page earlier this year (11), she wrote, "I would love to pose with (Playboy founder) Hugh Hefner though. He’s the sexiest guy I know over 30… Of course it will be tastefully done… Just a lil T (t**s) and A (a**). They have asked me about 3 times before."

KE$HA FIGHTING TO BLOCK TIKTOK WATCH STRAP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:24 am

Pop star KE$HA is taking legal action to stop the owners of an Illinois-based watch strap firm branding its latest product a name similar to her hit single TIK TOK.
The singer instructed her lawyers to fire off a cease and desist letter to Wimo Labs bosses last month (Apr11), claiming their product’s name, TikTok, was in "flagrant and conscious disregard" of her rights.
Wimo Labs executives have now hit back and this week (begs02May11) filed papers requesting a federal court in Chicago to declare their TikTok watch strap does not constitute an infringement of Ke$ha’s copyright, because consumers are unlikely to associate the star with the product.
Ke$ha’s song became a chart smash worldwide in 2009, launching her as a pop star.
