GAGA STUDIES HER STAGE PERFORMANCES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:42 am

LADY GAGA studies videos of her performances in a bid to better her stage act.
The Poker Face hitmaker is known for her lavish concerts and she admits to pouring over hours of footage so she can improve her routines.
In an interview with Stephen Fry for Britain’s Financial Times, she says, "I watched the Graham Norton (TV show) performance when it aired. And I watched it over and over and over and over and over. And I looked at all the parts that I liked and all the parts that I didn’t like… and I said, ‘OK, maybe this part, if your breath control was different, and here, maybe you should try this step…’ "I study everything that I do to become better all the time at my craft. The beauty for me about being an artist is that the dream will never die, because I’m not obsessed with material things and don’t care about the money and don’t care about the attention of the public, but only the love of my fans, so for me it’s about how much more devoted, how much better an artist can I become."

CEE LO: ‘JAMES BROWN WAS LIKE MY FATHER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:39 am

CEE LO GREEN has confirmed speculation GNARLS BARKLEY’s fan favourite tune WHO’S GONNA SAVE MY SOUL is all about the passing of JAMES BROWN.
The Crazy singer made the big reveal during a recent taping of VH1 show Storytellers, explaining the song is supposed to empower anyone grieving the loss of a loved one - and he wrote it as he was dealing with the 2006 death of the Godfather of Soul.
He says, "The song is actually about the passing of James Brown… It has to do with everyone; heartbreak, loss, regret, helplessness, hopelessness, and I felt all of the above when we lost James Brown - because he embodied everything.
"James Brown is my father… I got what I needed from him - I got guidance, I got style… integrity, I got consistency… He taught me how to dance too.
"When he passed we lost so much. It was just like, ‘Who else…?’ ‘How can I show him that all of his work was not in vain?’ "The song hurts me (because) there’s so much genuine pain."

COLLINS EYEING FASHION LINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:39 am

Veteran actress JOAN COLLINS dreams of launching her own fashion line for older women.
The Dynasty star designs many of her own clothes, and she wants to create a range that caters for females over 40 - as she is unimpressed with the selection currently in stores.
She tells British TV host Paul O’Grady, "I would love to do a fashion line, because I’m very interested in fashion.
"I design a lot of my own clothes and I think for women of my age, over 40, there’s very few things that you can wear. Everything’s either too girlie, or it’s too mumsy/granny, so I think I have some very good ideas."

LOWE CONSIDERING POLITICAL CAREER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:36 am

Hollywood actor ROB LOWE is considering swapping showbusiness for a career in politics.
The 47 year old, who is known for playing White House staffer Sam Seaborn in political drama The West Wing, is interested in turning fiction into reality because his role in the hit TV show inspired him to run for public office.
During a question and answer session at the Hay Festival in Wales, Lowe says, "People have started to ask me about that and I do have an interest in service. I love my country, and at some point in my life, I would like to serve. My experience of politicians is that people who serve are doing it for the right reasons. There are, however, idiots in both parties (Democrats and Republicans)." Lowe also recounted a memorable meeting with former U.S. President Bill Clinton at the White House’s famous Oval Office.
He adds, "I remember being in the Oval Office with the then President, Bill Clinton, and Aaron Sorkin (West Wing creator/writer). We started chatting and before I knew it Bill was pitching us plot lines and story ideas."

SOUL ICON SCOTT-HERON DEAD AT 62

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:51 am

Legendary jazz and soul musician GIL SCOTT-HERON has died at the age of 62.
The iconic artist, poet and activist passed away in New York on Friday afternoon (27May11) after falling sick following a trip to Europe.
Born in Chicago, Illinois to Jamaican soccer player Gilbert Heron and singer Bobbie Scott, the star spent his early years in Jackson, Tennessee before moving to the Big Apple with his mother following his parents’ divorce.
He began his recording career in 1970 with his debut album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox, a disc containing songs about social and political topics of the time, including the spoken-word piece The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. The track, which was regularly used for black power campaigns, is credited with influencing some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including rappers Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Kanye West, who sampled Scott-Heron on his latest, critically-acclaimed album My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy.
His other notable works include 1971 release Pieces of a Man and 1974’s Winter in America, projects which saw him reteam with his long-time collaborator, pianist Brian Johnson.
Scott-Heron took a lengthy hiatus in the 1980s before making a comeback in 1994 with Spirits. He took another long break before releasing 2010’s I’m New Here, his first new album in 16 years.
He also published five books of poetry and musings over the years, while he was thought to be putting the final touches to his next book, The Last Holiday, at the time of his death.
The artist, who was reported to be HIV positive, struggled with drug abuse in the latter part of his life and served time behind bars for cocaine possession in 2001. He spent the next few years in and out of jail as he battled his personal demons.
Tributes have poured in for the late musician with a host of big names taking to Twitter.com to remember Scott-Heron.
R&B star Usher writes, "I just learned of the lost of a very important poet…R.I.P. Gil Scott Heron. The revolution will be live!!", while rapper Kweli states, "wow. The rest of my night I’m gonna listen to Gil Scot (sic) Heron. We love you brother. We will miss you. RIP." The Roots drummer Ahmir ‘?uestlove’ Thompson simply tweets, "Damn Gil. Rip", and singer/DJ Solange Knowles writes, "Gil Scott Heron. U (sic) will be missed and remembered."

JEFF CONAWAY DIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:03 pm

GREASE star JEFF CONAWAY has died, a day after he was taken off life support. He was 60.
Conaway was hospitalised at Encino Hospital Medical Center on 11 May (11) after he was found unconscious at his California home.
The actor’s spokesman Phil Brock recently revealed he was found with a cocktail of "painkillers and cold medicine in his system", and doctors went on to diagnose him with pneumonia and sepsis, a potentially fatal blood poisoning caused by a bacterial infection.
He remained in a coma and his family decided to switch off his life support machine on Thursday (26May11) after medics admitted he was unlikely to ever regain consciousness.
Conaway passed away on Friday (27May11).
The tragic star had been taking the prescription pain medication since badly injuring himself following a fall at his home last year (10), when he broke his hip and arm, fractured his neck and suffered a brain haemorrhage.
Conaway is best known for playing bad boy Kenickie in the hit 1978 movie musical Grease, but he began his career on TV with roles in popular series including Happy Days, Mary Tyler Moore, Matlock, Murder, She Wrote and Taxi, in which he played struggling actor Bobby Wheeler.
The troubled actor’s death comes after years of his well-publicised battle with cocaine, prescription drug and alcohol abuse, which saw him try to kick his habits during two stints on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew from 2008. He became one of celebrity counsellor Dr. Drew Pinsky’s most agitated patients on the popular reality TV show .

STEWART REFUSES TO REJOIN FACES UNTIL WOOD QUITS STONES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

ROD STEWART has ruled out joining the reunion of his former band THE FACES unless guitarist RONNIE WOOD quits THE ROLLING STONES.
The Stay With Me hitmakers reunited last year (10) but were forced to take on Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall after their former frontman Stewart refused to join them for the comeback.
Now the Maggie May singer has revealed his reason for shunning his ex-bandmates - he is concerned Wood’s heart is not in the reunion because he is still "committed" to his work with the Stones.
Stewart tells Billboard, "The trouble with Ronnie, we get together and we mess about, but the thing is, he is still committed to the Stones. Talking for myself and the rest of the band, we need a commitment, not just, ‘Well, I’ve got next month off’. It doesn’t work like that. It’s not very professional.
"If he can give us the time, then I’ll commit to that as well. Until he’s finished with the Stones, whenever that will be, I can’t commit to it. I’d love to. I really would love to."

LIVELY DETERMINED NOT TO FALL INTO FAME TRAP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

BLAKE LIVELY is determined not to make the same "mistakes" as other young stars such as LINDSAY LOHAN, because she is convinced impressionable young fans need more "great role models".
The Gossip Girl star, 23, is adamant she is not part of the celebrity party circuit and shuns glitzy events in favour of spending time at home with her family.
Lively hopes she can provide a good example to youngsters after years of seeing troubled young stars hit headlines for the wrong reasons, including Mean Girls star Lohan who has been in and out of jail and rehab in recent months.
She tells Britain’s The Independent, "I was raised in a very rounded family from the South and (was) never much of a party girl, and if I were I would think of the obligations that I have to young girls, because I feel that there are not too many great role models, although now some are emerging.
"In the last few years the paparazzi have played out the lives of these girls for everyone to see, and so many people make mistakes at that age in our lives and it all takes place in front of the camera."
