LAW TO MEET WITH NEIGHBOURS OVER CONTROVERSIAL HOME PLANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

JUDE LAW is preparing to meet with his neighbours in London when he returns from the Cannes Film Festival in France to alleviate their fears about his home renovation plans.
The Sherlock Holmes star has submitted a planning application to Camden Council in a bid to gain permission for a basement extension and gym at his home in the city’s upmarket Highgate area.
However, his plans have been met with outrage from locals, while heads of the Highgate Society want to stop the building work as they are convinced it could affect water flow in the area, which is near to Hampstead Heath park.
Michael Hammerson, secretary of the group, tells Britain’s Telegraph newspaper, "We have the same reservations about this development as we do about all the other basement excavations around Hampstead and Highgate, the accumulation of which is going to be very damaging. There’s a complex network of underground water systems in this area and these sort of basements could divert them. It’s going to have a major cumulative effect on the way water drains to the Heath.
"The area Mr Law will be digging will have fairly significant archaeological implications for the local area, some of those houses date from the early 18th century and there may well be valuable archaeological information from that period or even earlier dates. It is important that we preserve that history. There is, of course, an open invitation to Mr Law to come and talk to the society about our concerns." Law has accepted the invite to discuss his plans with locals, according to his spokesman, who tells the publication, "Jude and his architect will be having a meeting with the Highgate Society to discuss the plans with them on his return from Cannes Film Festival to show them they have no need to have concerns.
"They (the Highgate Society) just want to be in consultation with the process."

GILBERT O’SULLIVAN’s children only ever heard his songs while visiting friends because the veteran singer/songwriter banned his music from his own home.
The Get Down hitmaker admits he has never been able to enjoy his own work as he is such a perfectionist.
He tells Britain’s The One Show, "I can’t look at myself or listen… In the studio, I’ll spend 100 hours trying to get the vocal right and making sure the sound is right but once (my) records are made, I tend to not want to hear it.
"The children, when they were growing up, used to only hear my records in other people’s houses and (they would) say, ‘We heard you on the radio!’ They’d never hear me in their own house. If I came on the radio I would turn it off."

BONO’S GIRLFRIEND STRUGGLED WITH SOBRIETY DURING SEX-SWAP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

CHAZ BONO’s girlfriend battled sobriety issues as she came to terms with his sex change procedure.
The singer and reality TV star, who was born Chastity Bono - the daughter of Cher and Sonny Bono - has undergone extensive surgery to become a man, including testosterone injections and breast removal.
Bono legally became a guy last year (10), but his longterm girlfriend Jenny Elia admits she briefly slipped up in her ongoing battle with booze during his gender transformation.
She tells Piers Morgan Tonight, "I can’t blame it solely on Chaz’s transition. My sobriety has been a struggle for years, it’s been an off-and-on thing for me. I’ve had periods of sobriety, but when he did tell me he was going to do this I used it (as a) a pass for myself, which only an alcoholic would." Chaz admits Elia’s battle with alcohol hit him hard, revealing, "I was angry. She had in the past fallen off the wagon. I was really scared and worried, but the difference this time was that I really have had to learn to deal with anger. I got really angry and I got really shut down and I put her through a lot and it was hard. We had to work it out in therapy to get back on track." Elia has now been sober for 14 months and insists she would "like to" marry her boyfriend to put their past problems behind them.
Bono adds, "We’ve been engaged for two years and we’ve had to put things on hold."

SWINTON USED PARENTHOOD DRAMAS TO PLAY TROUBLED MOTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

Actress TILDA SWINTON drew on her own experiences of parenthood to play a troubled mother in upcoming movie WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN.
Swinton stars in the film, based on Lionel Shriver’s 2003 novel of the same name, as a woman named Eva who is coming to terms with her son, Kevin, committing mass murder at his high school.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Swinton, who is mother to twins Xavier and Honor, admits she loosely connected with her character - as family life is "a b**ody business".
She told reporters, "That feeling of being left at the end of the day with yourself… Of course, in Eva’s case it’s extreme, a nightmare scenario, but it’s not that far from the everyday experience of being a parent, being up against your own monologue whomever you are talking to.
"It is a bl**dy business being in a family; a bl**dy business having a child and a really bl**dy business, as we know, being a child. It is a truly murderous business giving birth: it is a violent place to go."

Axed U.S. soaps ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE are set to go out with a bang after scoring a combined total of 25 nominations for the 2011 Daytime Emmy Awards.
Earlier this year (11), ABC network bosses announced All My Children will come to an end in September (11) after 41 years on air, while One Life To Live will also be scrapped following a 43-year run.

All My Children’s Melissa Claire Egan will go up against One Life To Live actress Bree Williamson for Best Supporting Drama Actress title, alongside the likes of Julie Pinson (As The World Turns), Heather Tom (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Tricia Cast (The Young and the Restless), while Williamson’s co-star Brian Kerwin will fight for Best Supporting Drama Actor, a category which includes Jonathan Jackson and Jason Thompson from General Hospital.

The winners will be unveiled at a ceremony in Las Vegas on 19 June (11). Actor/comedian Wayne Brady will host.

SMITH’S MEN IN BLACK TRAILER CAUSES UPROAR IN NEW YORK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

The giant trailer which WILL SMITH is using while filming MEN IN BLACK III has sparked complaints from New York residents who have branded the massive structure a nuisance.
The Hollywood actor is currently filming the sci-fi sequel in Manhattan along with co-stars Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin.
Smith spends his free time on set in a huge double-decker mobile home, which has been parked in the city’s SoHo district as he shoots scenes for the upcoming blockbuster. The trailer is set over two floors and features a cinema, a lounge bar, offices, a meeting room, a full-sized kitchen, as well as a large bedroom and bathroom, and measures a massive 53 feet (16 metres) in length.
Smith also has another trailer on site which houses his full-sized gym.
The sizable structure has infuriated residents in the neighbourhood, who claim the trailer is causing disruption.
Myrna Reisman, 62, who lives close to where the trailer has been parked, tells the New York Post, "It’s ridiculous! I’ve lived here 26 years, and I’ve never seen anything this size. This thing is like a duplex. How would Will Smith feel if I parked that thing out in front of his house? People forget this is a residential neighborhood, not a film lot." Another neighbour, Brigette Moreno, 22, adds, "It looks bigger than my apartment! The smell that comes along with it is disgusting. It’s like living in a gas station. I really like Will Smith, but I would be embarrassed if that was my trailer. A little modesty goes a long way." City officials have confirmed cops are working with the production team to ensure parking restrictions are not violated by the crew’s vehicles, with Julianne Cho, an associate commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, insisting no rules have been broken. She says, "NYPD supervisors and officers assigned to the set from the Movie/TV Unit are on hand to ensure a production’s parking is in compliance with its permit." While a representative for Sony Pictures Entertainment, the studio behind the movie, adds, "We know we are guests in the neighbourhoods where we film, and are always respectful of the area residents and businesses."
