MICHAEL KEATON hated his time filming BATMAN in London as his personal life was falling apart and he found himself all alone in a "dank, dark, cold place".
The actor took on the role of the superhero in Tim Burton’s 1989 movie and he jetted to the British capital to shoot the picture at the famous Pinewood Studios.
Keaton admits he loathed the location and was constantly miserable during filming because he had separated from his wife Caroline McWilliams and was desperate to spend time with his young son, Sean.
He suffered from insomnia and rarely socialised with other people as his problems seemed to intensify during the "difficult" shoot.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "It was a lonely time for me, which was great for the character, I suppose. I would run at night in London just trying to get tired enough so I could sleep. I didn�t talk to people much. My little boy was a toddler, and the woman I was married to at the time, we were not together but we were trying to figure it out and get back together.
"It was me in London, alone, and my sleep during that whole movie was never right. As often as I could, I was getting on the Concorde and trying to get back to spend some time with my kid.
â��It was an extremely difficult undertaking… and there was so much pressure. We were in England for a long time shooting at Pinewood and it was long, difficult nights in that dank, dark, cold place, and we never knew if it was really working."

JOHN HANNAH feels desperately sorry for his former SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND co-star ANDY WHITFIELD because the actor was "on the verge of stardom" when he was struck down with cancer.
Whitfield played the title role in the gladiator-themed TV show, but was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year (10) resulting in a delay in production on the second series.
Producers turned their attentions to a prequel, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, to allow Whitfield time to recover, but the cancer returned and he was forced to pull of out season two. He was replaced by Liam McIntyre.
Hannah, who plays Spartacus’ master in the series, admits he was devastated to hear Whitfield’s bad news and hopes he will bounce back once he recovers.
He tells Scotland’s Daily Record, "Andy has to focus on his recovery. I feel for him because he was on the verge of stardom. But I’m sure he’ll be back."

JUSTIN BIEBER has vowed to meet a young girl who lost her father in the 9/11 terrorist attacks after she wrote to U.S. President BARACK OBAMA asking whether he could arrange a visit from the pop star.
Payton Wall, 14, whose dad died in the 2001 attack on New York’s World Trade Center, first wrote a letter to the teenage singer asking whether he would make her dream come true.
When she received no response, she called on the country’s leader in a bid to make the meeting happen - she received a letter from the White House and an invitation to a ceremony at Ground Zero in Manhattan marking the death of terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden earlier this month (May11).
The teenager met Obama, who reportedly promised her he would help put her in touch with Bieber.
Editors at New York Magazine subsequently ran the story and cast doubt on whether Obama would have the power to arrange a Bieber meeting, and the article prompted the singer to respond publicly in a message through Twitter.
He writes, "I think you’re wrong. pretty sure President Barack Obama will keep this promise. Pay it forward." But Wall’s mother, Diane, isn’t convinced the promise will be kept and hopes her daughter isn’t too disappointed, telling the New York Daily News, "It would be nice if she gets to meet Justin Bieber. We donâ��t know much about it right now. I donâ��t want to get her hopes up. I need to talk to my daughter about it.â��

ALICIA KEYS is auctioning off a number of her personal belongings after selling her New York mansion.
The No One hitmaker moved into a new Manhattan penthouse apartment with her husband Swizz Beatz last year (10) and put her Long Island property on the market. She was forced to slash the price of the sprawling estate after it failed to sell - but has now offloaded the house.
Keys has seized the opportunity to de-clutter her belongings - and is selling off everything from a trampoline to fitness equipment, furniture, her doll collection and a pool table, reports TMZ.com.
The sale will be held by American Auctions on 22 May (11).

JENNIFER LOPEZ has topped the first ever YouTube.com music chart with her track ON THE FLOOR.
The newly-launched YouTube 100 calculates the popularity of the top 100 music videos, both amateur and professional, across the site and officials published the first countdown on Thursday (12May11).
Lady Gaga’s controversial new track Judas sits at two, while E.T. by Katy Perry, featuring Kanye West, is in third place.
Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown also feature in the top 10.

The mother of a man who died at a party attended by PETE DOHERTY has tearfully told of her disappointment after an investigation into the case was dropped, and she has urged the rocker to talk about what happened.
Mark Blanco, 30, passed away in 2006 after plunging from the balcony of an apartment in east London. The tragedy occurred shortly after he was ejected from the event following a confrontation with The Libertines frontman.
A police investigation initially concluded the death was not suspicious, but Blanco’s relatives demanded the case be re-opened late last year (10).
Prosecutors in Britain ruled on Thursday (12May11) there is insufficient evidence to bring any criminal charges in relation to Blanco’s death, and his mother Sheila admits she is deeply upset by the decision as she is desperate to find out what happened to her son.
She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "There are three men who know what happened. Perhaps if Doherty could come forward and say what really happened it would help. I am very disappointed." Doherty’s bodyguard Johnny ‘Headlock’ Jeannevol, and party host Paul Roundhill are also said to have been present during the confrontation with Blanco.
His relatives have previously suggested they may pursue a private prosecution if criminal charges are not filed.

French dance music star DAVID GUETTA is so keen to work with ADELE, he has already written a song for the British soul singer.
The producer and DJ has previously teamed up with stars including the Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna - and there is only one other artist he wants to head into the studio with.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star, "I’ve worked with everyone I want to work with, except Adele. It would be amazing.

Rocker FRANCIS ROSSI and his STATUS QUO bandmates felt compelled to re-record IN THE ARMY NOW for their upcoming album as a tribute to Britain’s armed forces.
The track was the title of their 1986 album, and Rossi was keen to reconnect with the song after meeting several injured soldiers.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "We met guys who’d had their arms and legs blown off. That did me in.
"You see these people trying to be philosophical about what has happened to them but how philosophical can you be when you’ve had your legs blown off? So anything we can do, we do." The song will feature on Status Quo’s new album Quid Pro Quo, which is released later this month (May11).

Stars of the country music world came together in Tennessee on Thursday night (12May11) for a concert to raise money for victims of the natural disasters which have devastated southern states in the U.S. in recent weeks.
Hank Williams, Jr. opened the show at the Music Builds: The CMT Disaster Relief Concert, held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee to raise money for the Red Cross.
The night saw performances from stars including Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Ronnie Dunn and Trace Adkins, while video messages were played from Nicole Kidman, Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Lopez and U.S. President Barack Obama.
More than 300 people were killed when tornadoes recently ripped through the region and many communities across the south are struggling to rebuild.
Alabama frontman Randy Owen spoke about his own personal experience of the tragedy, revealing 34 people died in the band’s hometown of DeKalb County in the state which gave the group its name.
Owen told the crowd, "These were people that we knew and friends of ours," before dedicating their song My Home’s In Alabama to residents of the battered state.
Proceeds from the concert benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the total raised at the show will be announced at the upcoming CMT Music Awards on 8 June (11), according to the Associated Press.

LADY GAGA has confirmed she is single again after splitting from her boyfriend LUC CARL.

Browning donned a series of revealing outfits to play a girl called Baby Doll in recent fantasy thriller Sucker Punch and she strips off several times in Julia Leigh’s upcoming movie Sleeping Beauty.
The 22 year old admits she has no problems being naked on camera, but when she’s not at work, she is a little less daring.
Speaking at the launch of the movie at the Cannes Film Festival in France, she says, "In my everyday life I’m a little bit nervous and not particularly brave. I feel like if I can be completely brave in my work then I’m doing something right.
"I just loved the material (in Sleeping Beauty) and I could tell from the beginning that Julia wasn’t going to do anything gratuitous - it was all tasteful. Also, I just don’t have a problem with naked human bodies - it just didn’t really seem much of an issue to me."

Teen actress SAOIRSE RONAN learned to love the punishing exercise regime for new movie HANNA after spending two hours every day in the gym for the high-action role.
The Lovely Bones star plays a trainee assassin in the thriller and she underwent months of tough training prior to shooting the film.
Ronan admits the active work was hard to begin with, but she slowly adapted to her new lifestyle - and eventually felt the benefit of her new-found exercise program.
She tells Britain’s OK! TV, "I started to train a couple of months before we began shooting. I did a couple of weeks of training in L.A. with the stunt co-ordinator and that was really helpful for both of us, especially him as he was able to design a very specific fighting style and I could then go back to Ireland and work on it.
"I was working out in the gym for about two hours every day. For the first few days it was tough, because it’s the gym and I had never been in the gym before, but then after that it was fine and I actually enjoyed pushing myself and being pushed. That made me feel a little bit more capable."

ZSA ZSA GABOR’s husband PRINCE FREDERICK VON ANHALT has slashed the price of her Beverly Hills mansion by $12 million (£7.5 million) in a bid to sell the property quickly.
The veteran star has been in and out of hospital since she broke her hip in a fall at her home last summer (10) and she was back under doctors’ care in Los Angeles earlier this month (04May11) after showing pneumonia-like symptoms.
The actress placed the house, which was once occupied by Elvis Presley, on the market earlier this year (11) - and now Von Anhalt is slashing its price from $28 million (£17.5 million) to $16 million (£10 million) after holding a meeting with his real estate agent.

CHRISTOPHER TIERNEY overcame serious injuries to make a triumphant return to his role in the troubled SPIDER-MAN musical on Thursday night (12May11), calling the newly revamped production the "safest show on Broadway".
The stuntman spent Christmas (10) in hospital in New York after falling from a ledge during a performance of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark in December (10), sparking rounds of safety investigations into the show.
He suffered several broken ribs, a fractured elbow, a bruised lung, three fractured vertebrae and a cracked skull, and underwent back surgery, as well as months of subsequent rehabilitation treatment.
Tierney vowed to return to the New York stage after the accident and he fulfilled his promise by slipping back into his stuntman Spider-Man suit this week (beg09May11) to re-join the show in its first performance since it was shut down for a serious overhaul.
He tells the Associated Press, "It was a two and a half hour roller coaster ride. I’m stronger coming back than I was before. Only a little soreness here and there…. We are the safest show on Broadway, I’ll tell you that much. I actually think it’s a little too much now." Director Julie Taymor exited in March (11) and a new creative team helped revamp the production during its hiatus.
U2 stars Bono and The Edge, who created the score, added new music for the show, while the story was rejigged and many of the stunts changed. Before the Thursday night performance, producer Michael Cohl welcomed the audience and called the production "almost a brand-new show".
The musical, which has previously been marred by onstage technical glitches, ran smoothly and lead actor Reeve Carney, who plays Peter Parker and Spider-Man, admits all the castmembers felt happy with the results of their hard work, adding, "It was so exciting. This cast is so amazing and we were all feeding off each other tonight." The night was also extra special for actress Jennifer Damiano, who plays the superhero’s love interest Mary Jane Watson, as she celebrated her 20th birthday on Thursday.
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is set to continue previews until next month (Jun11), when the show will officially open on 14 June (11) after numerous postponements.

A man accused of stalking IVANKA TRUMP has been declared unfit for trial following a psychiatric examination.
Justin Massler, 28, is accused of criminal contempt charges for allegedly breaching a restraining order by attempting to contact Donald Trump�s daughter, who is currently expecting her first child.
Massler pleaded not guilty to the crime back in March (11) and was ordered to undergo a mental exam. He was back in court in New York on Thursday (12May11) and Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lewis Stone ruled him unfit to stand trial.
He was ordered to attend therapy sessions at the city’s Bellevue Hospital and will be brought back to court in a year’s time unless doctors deem him mentally capable before that date, according to the New York Post.

MIKE MYERS is to become a father for the first time - his wife is pregnant.
The Austin Powers star married his longterm girlfriend Kelly Tisdale in a secret ceremony in New York late last year (10) and they are now expecting their first child together. The baby is due later this year (11).
A representative for Myers tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "I can confirm they are expecting a child.� The 47 year old started dating Tisdale in 2006, shortly after he split from his first wife, writer/actress Robin Ruzan, following a 12-year marriage.

The diva’s husband Nick Cannon has revealed Carey had some very specific plans for what she wanted playing in the delivery room as the couple’s babies were born on 30 April (11) - and the timing was perfect.
He tells U.S. TV host Gayle King, "My wife wanted to make sure that when the babies came out, that they came out not only to a Mariah Carey song, but a live performance from Mariah Carey - her Madison Square performance of Fantasy.

MARIAH CAREY and NICK CANNON were contacted by child protection officers after their twins were born last month (Apr11), following allegations of drinking and drug taking in the hospital.
The Hero hitmaker gave birth to daughter Monroe and son Moroccan at a Los Angeles medical facility on 30 April (11), the date of the couple’s third wedding anniversary.
Cannon reveals the babies are still in hospital - and he also admits he and his wife have spoken to officials concerned about their tots’ welfare.
In an interview with Piers Morgan on Thursday (12May11), the rapper/actor says workers from America’s Child Protective Services have been in contact with the couple after they were wrongly informed that the babies were exposed to alcohol.
Explaining the situation to Morgan, Cannon says, "Recently, the Child Protective Services were called with allegations that there was some drinking and drugs and all that going on, wild in the hospital, which makes no sense to me - how would a hospital allow that? "It all started when a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink Guinness, the dark beer, the yeast improves breastfeeding… I don’t know if someone heard that, but then they were saying my wife was drinking beer. People will do anything to try to conjure up a story.
"Then when I spoke to the person from Child Protection Services, (they said), ‘This is ridiculous, we’re going to make sure this isn’t the case’. To even have to deal with that, my wife in the state that she’s in, we’re in the hospital, to even have to think about someone possibly wanting to investigate your children… it’s sad at the end of the day." Cannon also claims that snappers eager to land the first photograph of the twins have been trying to infiltrate the medical facility.
He adds, "There’s been photographers actually in the hospital posing as different people or (people) trying to get pictures of the kids, which is really sad when you think about people trying to make a buck off newborn babies."
