HUGH LAURIE will be returning to HOUSE without his girlfriend for the medical drama’s eighth season.
Actress Lisa Edelstein has opted not to re-sign her contract and return for another season of the show, reports EW.com.
Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps will be back with Laurie, who has hinted the next series of the hit show will be his last.
He recently told Britain’s Radio Times magazine, "The end of the (eighth) season, right now, looks like the end of the show. That is as far as they have got me for."

French acting icon JEAN-PAUL BELMONDO was the toast of the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (17May11) when he was honoured for his longrunning career.
The veteran star, who landed his big break in Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless in 1960, was presented with a prestigious Palme d’Or prize in recognition of his five decades in the spotlight, starring in classics of the New Wave era such as Leon Morin, Priest, The Fingerman and Pierrot le fou.
The 78 year old, who suffered a stroke in 2001, walked with a cane as he stepped up to accept the award from festival president Gilles Jacob, telling the audience, "I am very moved by this honour, which I’ve no right to." The presentation was followed by the premiere of his documentary, Belmondo, The Career.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA has tightened her circle of friends after realising some pals had a secret agenda.
The pop star struggled through a variety of public woes earlier this year (11), including divorcing her husband Jordan Bratman, fumbling the National Anthem during a live Super Bowl performance and getting arrested for public intoxication.
The string of incidents caused some of her pals to reach out, wanting to help the singer get back on track, but the Beautiful hitmaker admits some of her so-called friends didn’t have the most authentic intentions.
During an appearance on U.S. morning show Today on Tuesday (17May11), she said, "I think there were some definite ex-(dis)gruntled employees along the way. Whenever things like this happen to you, some people just want to kick you when you’re down… Right now I feel that I’ve found my true friends and the people who are really there for me and have stuck by me and just supported me…
"After you’ve been in this business for quite some time you’re able to weed out, ‘OK is this person just on a power-trip feeding-frenzy of… this is what’s great for you’. Some people like the drama of creating it around you (just) to make themselves look better like, ‘Oh I saved her.’"

Actress EVA LONGORIA has spoken out about comments made at her wedding to basketball player TONY PARKER, suggesting the groom was "gay" for marrying her.
Remarks, allegedly made by Longoria’s Desperate Housewives boss Marc Cherry, have been made public as part of former co-star Nicollette Sheridan’s ongoing legal spat with the writer and his fellow producers.
TMZ.com obtained documents in Sheridan’s wrongful termination suit against Cherry, in which she declared, "I was present at Eva Longoria’s wedding to Tony Parker, when Mr. Cherry commented that, ‘Tony must like boys, because he is marrying this… little, small girl with no t**s - that looks like a boy." Appearing on pal George Lopez’s late night U.S. chat show on Monday (16May11), Longoria addressed both the alleged remarks and Sheridan’s declaration, insisting she wants no part of her former co-star’s dispute with Cherry.
She said, "How did I get dragged into this…? We all have to give a deposition because of what they’re fighting about." And the actress revealed the whole thing has been blown out of proportion by Sheridan.
She added, "Marc Cherry did a toast (at my wedding) and to toast was like a roast, so he makes fun of you. I don’t know what she had said but it was not anything close to what he had said. Everyone laughed."

JODIE FOSTER has revealed the secret to MEL GIBSON’s pitch perfect accent in THE BEAVER - the actor called up RAY WINSTONE to master his Cockney voice.
Early audiences were so impressed by Gibson’s working class London accent as a puppeteer in the movie, they assumed Sir Michael Caine had been hired to dub his lines.
But director Foster admits Gibson nailed his performance with the help of an English expert - his Edge Of Darkness co-star Winstone.
Foster recalls, "Mel did a movie with Ray (in 2010) and he kept calling him during filming (The Beaver) and saying, ‘How would I say this?’ It was very specifically Ray Winstone and sort of Michael Caine on speed."

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’s spokesperson has shot down fresh rumours he’s dating actress OLIVIA WILDE after they were spotted celebrating a mutual friend’s birthday together in New York.
The SexyBack hitmaker recently co-hosted a dinner party for his pal at his barbecue restaurant Southern Hospitality and Wilde was among those in attendance, mingling with the singer/actor and other guests.
It is the second time in as many months the newly-single stars have been spotted out together, but Timberlake’s representative insists there is nothing romantic between the two.

Heartbroken MARIA SHRIVER is pleading with the media for privacy as she tries to come to terms with estranged husband ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER’s infidelity.

The actor son of slain rap icon NOTORIOUS B.I.G. receives a weekly allowance of just $20 (£12.50), despite earning his own pay cheques from movie roles in NOTORIOUS and new dark comedy EVERYTHING MUST GO.
Teenager C.J. Wallace, Biggie’s son with R&B singer Faith Evans, made his acting debut in 2009 when he played a younger version of his dad in big screen biopic Notorious.
He has since expanded his film credits with a more mainstream part in Will Ferrell’s latest project, but the 14 year old reveals he doesn’t take advantage of his good fortune - Evans keeps his finances under tight control.
He tells the New York Post, "I get $20 a week in allowance. I never really asked if I can take money out and just spend it. (But) there’s nothing I really want to buy at this moment." Wallace admits he never considered acting as a career until Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, urged him to try out for the Notorious part - a role which proved to be a learning experience in more ways than one.
He says, "I didn’t really want to do it, but I did it anyway. After I got it, I found out stuff that I didn’t even know about my dad." The youngster is now planning to study film at college and will enrol in his first acting course later this year (11).

GLEE star MATTHEW MORRISON is set to join the BACKSTREET BOYS on their upcoming tour with NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK.
The singer, who recently released his first solo, self-titled album, has altered his U.S. summer concert plans so he can team up with the boy bands.
During an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Tuesday (17May11), he says, "This is the first time I’m going to announce this, it happened this past weekend (14-15May11). Things kind of changed in my tour that was scheduled.
"There are going to be some cities that are going to stay (the same) but I’m going to be joining the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block and play in some arenas." The Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block tour is set to kick off on 2 June (11) in Connecticut before wrapping 30 July in Pennsylvania.
There is no word yet on which American tour dates will feature Morrison, who is scheduled to embark on his solo tour in Minnesota on 18 June.

Canadian pop/rock star SARA QUIN has lashed out at rising ODD FUTURE rapper TYLER, THE CREATOR in an open letter to the media, calling on music journalists to stop praising him as a "genius" because his lyrics are "repulsive and irresponsible".
Tyler, The Creator released his latest solo album, Goblin, to a slew of positive reviews last week (ends13May11), but the violent content of the 20 year old’s songs and tracks by his band Odd Future have also drawn controversy, with rhymes about rape and murder and the frequent use of homophobic slurs.
The acclaim lavished on the hip-hop newcomer has outraged Tegan and Sara singer Quin and the gay star has taken to the duo’s website to publicly urge reporters to condemn Tyler’s "sickening" and "hateful message".
She writes, "As journalists and colleagues defend, excuse and congratulate Tyler, The Creator, I find it impossible not to comment. In any other industry would I be expected to tolerate, overlook and find deeper meaning in this kid’s sickening rhetoric? Why should I care about this music or its ‘brilliance’ when the message is so repulsive and irresponsible? "No genre is without its controversial and offensive characters - I’m not naive. I’ve asked myself a thousand times why this is pushing me over the edge… Maybe it’s because I’m a human being, both a girl and a lesbian. Maybe it’s because my mum has spent her whole adult life working with teenage girls who were victims of sexual assault. Maybe it’s because in this case I don’t think race or class actually has anything to do with his hateful message but has EVERYTHING to do with why everyone refuses to admonish him for that message." But the Odd Future frontman has brushed off Quin’s angry letter on his Twitter.com blog, responding, "If Tegan and Sara need some hard d**k, hit me up!"

Pop star NICK JONAS is helping to raise funds for an orphanage in Rwanda by hosting a benefit in New York on Tuesday (17May11).
The Jonas Brothers star has teamed up with singer/songwriter Diane Birch to stage the Stand Up & Be Counted event to boost donations to The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, which provides accommodation, education and healthcare to vulnerable youths.
Jonas, Birch and hip-hop group The Roots will entertain guests at the fundraiser, while music executive Steve Greenberg will be honoured for his philanthropy efforts.
Tweeting about the bash on Monday (16May11), Jonas wrote, "So exited (sic) to be playing at the Stand up and be counted event tomorrow here in NYC. Using music to do Good is what life is all about." It will be a busy evening for The Roots - the Stand Up & Be Counted event will be their second New York benefit of the night. The Grammy winners are also due to perform at A Spring Evening, hosted by designer Donna Karan, actor Joaquin Phoenix and author Salman Rushdie, and they will end their night at the B.B. King blues club, where they will play a set to celebrate the career of hip-hop pioneer Kool Herc and the 50th birthday of rap veteran Melle Mel.

GLEE star MATTHEW MORRISON would never consider sitting on the panel of a TV talent show - because he’d hate to judge wannabe stars trying to break into the entertainment industry.
Morrison forged a stellar career on the Broadway stage and in small TV roles before making it big as teacher Will Schuester on the hit musical series.
But despite his own successes, the star insists he’s not hardened to rejection and wouldn’t feel right killing youngsters’ dreams.
He tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "Never. I’m not a judge. It’s something I’ve never even thought about or aspired to be. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, and I’m sure I would probably be a decent judge, but I want to perform. I feel weird judging people, too, because in this business I get judged a lot, so I wouldn’t want to be on the other side. Who am I to judge?"

THE WIRE actress FELICIA PEARSON has pleaded not guilty to conspiring to sell heroin.
The star, who played drug dealer and assassin Snoop in the hit TV series, was arrested along with 37 other suspects during a raid by police in Baltimore, Maryland on an alleged drugs ring on 10 March (11).
Pearson, who was jailed for more than six years for killing a woman when she was just 14, was later released after being held on charges of conspiring to sell heroin, in addition to counts of aiding and abetting.
The actress appeared in court on Tuesday (17May11) for an arraignment at the Baltimore Circuit Court and denied any wrongdoing.
A trial has been set for 9 August (11).

The pioneering U.S. newsman portrayed by ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. in Oscar-nominated drama GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK has died at the age of 90.
Joseph Wershba passed away in Long Island, New York on Saturday (14May11) due to complications from pneumonia.
A former World War II army veteran, Wershba began his journalism career as a reporter with the CBS News network in 1944.
He made a name for himself during the 1950s, when a TV expose on Senator Joseph McCarthy helped to put an end to his relentless witch-hunt to out alleged communists in Hollywood, including playwright Arthur Miller and silent film star Charlie Chaplin.
The 1954 investigation, for Edward R. Murrow’s news show See It Now, and subsequent fall out with the disgraced politician was dramatised in George Clooney’s 2005 film Good Night and Good Luck, which saw Downey, Jr. play Wershba.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER has revealed the reason behind his split from wife MARIA SHRIVER - he fathered a secret lovechild with a member of their household staff.
The actor-turned-politician announced last week (beg09May11) he has split from his wife of 25 years and she moved out of their home in Brentwood, California earlier this year (11).
Now it has emerged their break-up came after Schwarzenegger confessed to Shriver that he had fathered a child with an unnamed aide more than 10 years ago.
In a statement issued to the Los Angeles Times, he says, "After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family.
"There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry. I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time. While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not." The names of the child and its mother were not revealed, but the Los Angeles Times reports the woman was a member of Schwarzenegger’s household staff for 20 years before her retirement in January (11).
