LOHAN BEGINS SERVING TIME UNDER HOUSE ARREST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:57 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN has begun her 120-day jail term - in the comfort of her own home.
The Mean Girls star was sentenced in April (11) to serve time for violating her probation on a 2007 charge for driving under the influence. She was also ordered to complete 480 hours of community service after the actress was accused of stealing a necklace from a California jewellery store in January (11).
Lohan turned herself over to authorities at Lynwood Jail in Los Angeles around 5am local time on Thursday (26May11), but she was allowed to return to her Venice, California home within the hour to serve her time under house arrest.
Los Angeles Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore tells People.com, "She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times." Whitmore explains prison overcrowding, and the fact that Lohan is a non-violent offender, made her eligible for house arrest.
The actress, who has been fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet, was not required to take another booking photo.
A Los Angeles judge ruled Lohan’s arrest over the alleged theft broke the terms of her parole, but Lohan, who pleaded no contest to the misdemeanour, escaped further punishment and was simply ordered to turn herself into police on or before 17 June (11) to begin the 120-day sentence.
