DUNST GRATEFUL TO LAND AWARD AFTER VON TRIER SCANDAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

KIRSTEN DUNST used her acceptance speech at the Cannes Film Festival awards gala to thank members of the jury for keeping her movie MELANCHOLIA in the competition after director LARS VON TRIER was banned from the French event.
The Danish moviemaker hit headlines last week ends (22May11) for making controversial comments about Nazi leader Adolf Hitler at a Cannes press conference to promote the new drama.
Festival bosses subsequently banished Von Trier and the director admitted his remarks were "completely and absolutely stupid," but the scandal failed to stem the success of Melancholia.
Dunst landed the Best Actress award for her role in the film and when she took to the stage to pick up the prize on Sunday (22May11), she praised festival bosses for keeping the movie in the contest.
She said, "Wow, what a week it’s been… This is an honour that’s once in a lifetime. Thank you to the Cannes Film Festival for allowing the film to still be in (the) competition… I want to thank Lars for giving me the opportunity to be so brave in this film. It’s such a special night for me."

OWEN SUFFERS PRE-TOUR ‘MELTDOWN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:15 pm

British pop star MARK OWEN suffered a "meltdown" ahead of TAKE THAT’s upcoming tour as pre-performance jitters took hold and led to "panic" and sleepless nights.
The group is gearing up for a summer (11) tour of Europe - their first as a five-piece since Robbie Williams walked out in 1995.
Owen, who checked into rehab last year (10) following revelations about a string of affairs and drinking problems, has been in agony worrying about the 36-date trek.
He says, "A few weeks ago I had a pre-tour panic, a bit of a meltdown, which I went through for a couple of days. Not much sleep, but I came through the other end and I’ve been all right since." The first concert of Take That’s Progress tour is scheduled for Friday (27May11) in Sunderland, England, and Owen insists he now feels prepared to perform, adding: "We’re confident with it now and I think the show’s going to be brilliant."

MCFADDEN ‘ISSUES WARNING TO JONAS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:15 pm

Irish singer BRIAN MCFADDEN has issued a stark warning to DELTA GOODREM’s rumoured new boyfriend NICK JONAS, urging the pop star not to "hurt" his former fiancee.
The couple’s seven-year relationship came to an end last month (Apr11), and Goodrem was subsequently linked to the Jonas Brothers star after they were allegedly spotted holding hands as they left a movie theatre in Los Angeles.
The ex-Westlife singer has now spoken out about Goodrem’s rumoured new lover, insisting he just wants the 26-year-old singer to be happy.
He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "It’s fine; you see it (the photo of Goodrem and Jonas together) and accept it for what it is. It was positive. She looks happy. If she’s happy, I don’t mind. But there’s a warning from me: If anyone hurts her they’re dead…
"I wish her all the happiness in the world… We’re still really good friends."

GAGA WROTE JUDAS ABOUT EX-BOYFRIEND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:15 pm

LADY GAGA has confirmed she wrote her new track JUDAS about a lover who broke her heart, just days after she announced her split from boyfriend LUC CARL.
The pop superstar encompasses biblical themes in her latest release and was heavily criticised by Christian groups for the imagery used in the accompanying music video.
Gaga has now revealed the religious overtones hide a deeply personal meaning behind the lyrics as she is singing about a boyfriend who betrayed her. The news comes less than two weeks after Gaga confirmed her relationship with heavy metal drummer Carl has come to an end.
In an interview with Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts for Britain’s MTV, she says, "I’ve had a lot of ex-boyfriends betray me - a**holes, we all have them… I began to write a song about an ex-lover who betrayed me, who loved heavy metal music.
"And then I thought about the biblical implications and how Judas was the betrayer. And once I thought about what I wanted to do with the video… Judas didn’t really betray Christ because he was part of the prophecy. So I thought a more liberating way to tackle the message of the song - we attack the idea by saying my ex betrayed me and this person haunts me, but I forgive them." The full interview - Nicola Roberts Meets Lady Gaga - airs in the U.K. on Monday night (23May11).

LAURIE’S CHILDHOOD HUNGER STRIKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:12 pm

Actor HUGH LAURIE hated piano lessons so much as a boy, he embarked on a hunger strike in protest.
The House star is now an accomplished musician who plays guitar, drums, harmonica and saxophone, but admits he resorted to extreme measures when he was forced to enrol in piano classes.
He tells the BBC, "I did have piano lessons, very briefly. I loathed it. I insisted on giving it up. In fact, I actually went on hunger strike. I didn’t eat for three or four days. When you’re 10, that’s rather a long time." But Laurie’s musical tuition clearly paid off - he has been receiving rave reviews for his debut blues album, Let Them Talk.
