Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

British singer JESSIE J paid tribute to late THE WHO legend JOHN ENTWISTLE during an appearance in New York by wearing a replica of the rocker’s famous skeleton suit.
The Price Tag hitmaker jetted into the Big Apple during her whistlestop tour of the U.S. to take part in a special handprint ceremony to celebrate her debut album going platinum.
And during the event at Planet Hollywood in Times Square on Thursday (19May11), the star showed her appreciation for bass player Entwistle’s contribution to rock ‘n’ roll history by donning a black top printed with a rib cage and arm bones.
But the singer’s trip to New York wasn’t entirely a happy one - as the late-running star made a dash for her flight out, she was abused by a fan for refusing to stop and sign autographs.

Drivers taking Perry to her gigs are not allowed to "start a conversation with the client", her guests or fans, and are told not to "stare at the backseat through the rear view mirror". STARS HONOUR VEGAN SANCTUARY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

JESSE EISENBERG, ERIC ROBERTS and COREY FELDMAN have come together in New York to call for increased compassion for farm animals.
Wendie Malick, Fred Willard and Ally Sheedy were also among the guests at the star-studded 25th anniversary of the Farm Sanctuary, the leading farm animal protection organisation in the U.S.
The animal-loving stars dined on a three-course vegan dinner at the Cipriani Wall Street restaurant in Manhattan, before Roberts, Feldman and Sheedy all got up on stage to champion the vegan bosses behind the Farm Sanctuary.
Gene Baur, co-founder of Farm Sanctuary, says, "This is as much a celebration as a recognition that we are in the midst of a major awakening about the food we put in our bodies and what it means for the world around us.
"Twenty five years ago I couldn’t have predicted the profound effect Farm Sanctuary would have on how our society views and treats farm animals. We still have a long way to go and events like this are important milestones on the road to renewing our empathy and compassion."

APES DIRECTOR RULED OUT USING REAL PRIMATES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

Producers of the PLANET OF THE APES prequel movie were tempted to use real primates in the film - but they scrapped the idea because the beasts would be too difficult to direct.
Actor Andy Serkis plays chief chimp Caesar in the upcoming sci-fi drama Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but director Rupert Wyatt has revealed the Brit almost had to co-star with real primates.
Wyatt tells Total Film magazine, "The other Apes films dealt with talking apes and and apes that were humanoid in many ways. This film isn’t about that. It’s about apes as apes… We had a choice of using either live apes or CGI.
"Personally, I had moral problems with the idea of using chimps. And from a practical point of view it would be virtually impossible to get them to do what we need them to do within our schedule."

REFN ‘REPULSED’ BY VON TRIER’S HITLER COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:15 pm

Filmmaker NICOLAS WINDING REFN has blasted fellow Danish director LARS VON TRIER for his "unacceptable" statements about Nazi leader ADOLF HITLER, insisting he was "very repulsed" by the remarks.
Von Trier hit headlines this week (beg16May11) after expressing sympathy for Hitler while discussing his German heritage at a press conference for his new movie Melancholia at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Festival directors subsequently banned von Trier from the event.
Now fellow Dane Refn has addressed the controversy, admitting the comments reflect a problem with attitudes in their native country.
At a press conference for his movie Drive, Refn told reporters, "I think that what Lars said was very unacceptable, and I don’t want to comment on his movie (Melancholia). I haven’t seen it.
"I think it just shows that in Denmark we have a very small mentality and we sometimes forget that there are other people around us.
"I was very repulsed by what he said, and for my family’s sake as well, and how it affects them and everybody else. I don’t really want to get into it. Whatever he wants to do, it’s his life. The man’s 60 years old."

DOHERTY: ‘I’M BROKEN BY BLANCO AND WHITEHEAD DEATHS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

British rocker PETE DOHERTY has finally spoken out about his link to the deaths of his best friend and a budding actor, insisting the double tragedy has left him a "broken" man.
The former Libertines frontman was last week (beg09May11) cleared of any involvement in the death of Mark Blanco, who passed away in 2006 after plunging from the balcony of an apartment in east London following a bust-up with the rocker at a party.
In January last year (10), Doherty hit headlines again when he and fellow musician Alan Wass were arrested after the suspected drugs death of close friend Robyn Whitehead at his pal Peter Wolfe’s London home.
Doherty was subsequently charged with possessing cocaine and is awaiting sentence after admitting the offence - and now he has finally addressed both tragedies in a bid to "do away with the perverse and degrading silence" he’s maintained since the incidents.
In a post on his official blog, the singer/songwriter is adamant there was no "foul play" in either Blanco or Whitehead’s deaths. He insists he was not present when Blanco toppled from the balcony at literary agent Paul Roundhill’s home, and claims there is "no cover up" in the Whitehead case.
Doherty writes, "I have said nothing about any of this up until now. Even the words attributed to me are incorrect. I’ll tell you how I feel: Sick to my heart with sadness for the parents and family of both Mark and Robyn, for different reasons, although in both cases the relatives have suffered due to the unprincipled media’s insistence that foul play and the ‘evil junky Pete Doherty’ are to blame for two tragic deaths.
"Mrs Blanco. Your son was well-liked and well-loved and many respected him, for his wit and his talent and his intelligence. I met him on two occasions. The night that he died he was intensely agitated and extremely hyper-active and intoxicated. He was ejected from Paul’s flat because of his aggressive and loud attempts to belittle me and assert his view that I was a hyped up pop star and he was a talented actor about to star in a play called ‘accidental death of an anarchist’.
"Paul was dismayed that his friend was showing me this side of his character when in reality we could have been friends and exchanged ideas… When he left the flat he was alone and when he fell or jumped he was alone. THAT is what happened. He either fell or was making an extreme point about the nature of life imitating art.
"I need to think. I need to explain. I need you to know that these families are torturing themselves in the quest for sinister plots and answers that are not there. Robyn’s father texted me that I am a ‘coward and a runt’ and that I am to blame. She talked constantly of her father Peter Whitehead. She worshipped him… She would be broken hearted if she knew that I was not even invited to the funeral. She was my best friend you deranged old silly. There is no cover up. We are broken, me Alan and Wolfe."

DICAPRIO RAISES FORTUNE FOR HAITI

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO raised more than $200,000 (£125,000) for aid efforts in Haiti - by pledging to personally donate $70,000 (£43,750) and shaming business moguls HARVEY WEINSTEIN and VLADIMIR DORONIN into following suit.
The Hollywood heart-throb was at an auction for Sean Penn’s Haiti charity as part of the Cannes Film Festival in France this week (begs16May11) when he became frustrated at the slow pace of the bidding.
So in a bid to kickstart some large donations, DiCaprio leaped onstage, grabbed a microphone, and told the audience he will hand $70,000 of his own cash to the cause, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.
And DiCaprio’s philanthropic efforts didn’t end there - he publicly called on millionaire movie boss Weinstein and Russian businessman Doronin to match his bid, and they both agreed.
The auction eventually raised more than $1 million (£625,000) for Penn’s JP Haitian Relief Organization, which provides cash for aid efforts following the devastating earthquake that hit the country last year (10).
