Veteran actor ROBERT WAGNER has launched a scathing attack on a famed food critic who slated one of his favourite restaurants in Paris, France.
The TV star was shocked when British writer A.A. Gill, who works for the U.K.’s The Sunday Times, gave a negative review of Chez L’Ami Louis in the French capital and compared one dish to "an accident involving rat babies in a nuclear reactor".
Gill also griped, "It is, all things considered, entre nous, the worst restaurant in the world." But Wagner has now taken aim at the critic, slamming the unsavoury review in a letter to Vanity Fair magazine.
The actor writes, "Is Gill telling the thousands of diners who love it that only he knows what is good? Not only is he wrong, but one feels that Gill’s labial, proctologic, colonic, urinary and suppository references apply solely to himself rather than to one of the best restaurants anywhere."

Designer RALPH LAUREN’s daughter DYLAN has been left floored by the gown her father has designed for her wedding next month (Jun11).
The fashion icon insisted on creating the perfect dress for his only daughter but he admits it wasn’t an easy job.
During a rare family interview on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the designer says, "I had to do something that was better than ever before. It’s the only daughter I have… I wanted to give her something that she’d really treasure… and I wanted it to feel fantastic.
"It was clear what she should look like… I went through a few drawings. Nothing was perfect… (My wife) Ricky looked at the first drawing and she said, ‘Ralph, that’s not Dylan.’" But his daughter, candy store boss Dylan, loves the finished product: "I may not take off the dress after the wedding. I told my fiance I’ll sleep in it, I might wear it the next day; it’s really beautiful." And her summer wedding won’t be the only nuptials in the Lauren family in 2011 - eldest son David will wed at the family’s Colorado ranch in September (11).

Director WOODY ALLEN was surprised to learn RACHEL MCADAMS and MICHAEL SHEEN became a couple after co-starring in his new movie MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, insisting he "didn’t see it coming".
The Notebook beauty has been romantically linked to British actor Sheen since last summer (10) and they finally went public with their relationship at the Cannes Film Festival in France last week (11May11), when they walked the red carpet together at the movie’s premiere.
But Allen admits he was completely unaware of the chemistry between the pair during the shoot, unlike the sparks which flew between his Vicky Cristina Barcelona stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
He tells People.com, "I could notice it a little with Penelope and Javier. They were kind of chummy. But I didn’t see it coming here… and they did not ask my permission!"

Supermodel NIKI TAYLOR is to become a mother for the fourth time.
The 36-year-old beauty already has 16-year-old twin boys, Hunter and Jake, from a previous marriage.
Taylor also has a two-year-old daughter with her husband, racing car driver Burney Lamar - and now the pair is set to welcome another new addition to its family.
The beauty announced the news on Twitter.com by posting the message, "Guess what’s in this photo?" before posting a link to an image showing her holding an ultrasound scan.
Taylor then added a photo of her kissing Lamar alongside the words, "YES!! We are expecting our fourth child! So happy and blessed!"

Boxing legend SIR HENRY COOPER was laid to rest on Wednesday (18May11), with sporting greats including SIR BOBBY CHARLTON and KEVIN KEEGAN turning out to pay their last respects.
The British fighting legend and charity advocate passed away at his son’s home in Surrey, England after a short battle with ill health, two days before his 77th birthday earlier this month (May11).
Following his death, boxing icon Muhammad Ali gave a moving tribute to his one-time adversary, saying, "Henry always had a smile for me; a warm and embracing smile. It was always a pleasure being in Henry’s company." Soccer heroes Charlton and Keegan were joined by fellow sports stars Sir Trevor Brooking and Barry McGuigan and beloved British TV personalities Bruce Forsyth, Sir Terry Wogan and Russ Abbott at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Kent, England to bid farewell to the fighter.
Cooper’s coffin arrived at the church draped in a Union Jack flag, with a red wreath in the shape of a boxing glove and his nickname, ‘Our ‘Enry’, was spelt out in white chrysanthemums.
